《Birth of an AntiHero》Chapter 53 – Before the Orientation Games Part 1

Mr. Abrams: “...Well now. Mind explaining to me exactly what that was??”
Noel: “...No.”
Mr. Abrams: "… If not because the principal liked it when you called that reporter an 'old lady', I would've dragged you off stage myself! That was NOT a self introduction... Not the beginning parts anyway.”
“...I was angry though. Wouldn't anybody be?”
Mr. Abrams: “...No. Not usually. I mean, yes they'd be angry, but they'd just bottle it up and leave the stage. Normally people would feel overwhelmed if they were being attacked by the entire freshman student body of their high school, not shouting that they are a king or that their life is more important than everyone else's.”
Rise: “Pffft! I woulda done the same – No! I would've even taken it a step further! If it was me up on stage, I'd have pointed out to the lot of them that even if non-combatants leave, all of them are still bound to the role of 'saving people' as heroes in training. Meaning that they're actually trying to make themselves even WORSE super heroes in the future by not learning how to do it properly early on here in school.
Anyways, great job! Gahahahahaha!”
Ian: “Not great! Are you trying to catch extremely bad attention for us or something?!”
{I don't see what the big deal is, I just vented my anger out a lil.}
Rise: “Don't listen to him, he's just a a wimp. I support your actions, they stopped criticizing you pretty quick! If I need to hear about how useless and unnecessary my attending school is, then I wouldn't be silent either. Screw being nice, those guys could only swallow their anger in hate anyway. Since they can't touch us, just tell 'em all how you feel, freakin' pound em with logic and facts!”
Ian: “I'm NOT a wimp!”
Rise: “Really? I have a hard time believing that. I wonder why.”
Ian: “It's true! I'm not scared it's just, Noel, You...YOU challenged THE Generational Leaders! Don't you know what happens when you do something like that? Are you afraid of your school life being boring or something?!”
Noel: “So? What's so special about these, 'Generational Leaders' That's got you so panicky-”
Ian: “I'm NOT panicky!”
Noel: “...”
Aria: “...But they can't hurt him because he's a noncombatant. Shouldn't that protect Noel?”
Elijah: “...Listen up. One of the scariest parts about children having superpowers, is that they have absolutely no qualms with bullying others and still calling themselves a “hero” afterwards. I would always find kids being picked on and have to defend them until their parents arrived.
What's scary is that as those kids grow older, they convince themselves that joining the 'Realist faction' is the right thing to do. That the reason behind their actions was to teach weaker children on the playground how a villain normally behaves! That they weren't bullying. That was just how... how a true hero should act – to show what a villain is like. Other times, young children would just assign kids they didn't like as villains in order to give themselves an excuse to pound on the girl or boy.
Some grow out of this phase and even repent to their victims... most don't. This school will probably have a bunch of guys and girls pretending to 'do the right thing' as an excuse to show off their strength and gain popularity for doing a 'good job' at culling the weak. The human mind craves attention, and the Hero mind desires a reason to deliver its own sense of 'Justice'.”
Noel: “So... what's wrong with what I said? You're saying that some kids might still try to pick a fight with me just to make me leave this school? But are they really so obsessed like that?”
Alyandrea: “Probably. I saw this one girl that would just ruthlessly punch away at everybody's weak spots and claim she was doing it so that 'Justice' doesn't remain weak. I lost to somebody that acted just like her, and had to get kicked out from the hero course examination test. I wasn't the only one to lose because of someone like that, either. A lot of people showed these ruthless and ugly sides to themselves. Dunno about the first girl but the girl that I lost to, I think she's attending this school as a sidekick now.”
Aria: “But you people were taking a test! Why would they hurt one of us even though we're so defenseless against all of them? Would that really be heroic? Even though they'll get expelled if they were to harm us?.
Brennan: “'Evil shall not go unpunished'. I've been hearing that a lot lately.”
Li Shun: “Hm... strange. That line...it sounds familiar. Where have I heard that before...
… Ah!
That's right! Mr. Disaster said that!”
Mr. Abrams: “That saying 'Evil shall not go unpunished.' is something that's been around for decades. It means the same as it sounds, to punish evil. Lately though, Realist Heroes have been using it to excuse their violent treatment of others.”
Rise: “So, the Realist faction are a group of heroes that act like villains, basically?”
Mr. Reeds: “Hohoh, not quite. I don't remember how many generations actually passed, but it was a few. For undisclosed reasons, a massive war broke out between the Hero Society with Herotopia's newest Heroes, and The Sanctuary of all Villainy: Villain Haven.

...Nobody can forget the blood shed on that day. A few of those survivors managed to come together and form a new group, the Realist Faction. They called for more supporters, and demanded that villains be tried for life sentences over even simple crimes, and grew even more violent in their approach of Villains.
At first, suppressing the small group of Heroes was an easy job. However, it was only after they started poisoning the minds of young children with their slogans, war stories and promises, that they garnered eventual support.
Those same survivors ensured a powerful new generation would stabilize their faction years into the future, and then THOSE young, new Heroes would do the same by attempting to raise an even MORE powerful next generation, and that's how the Dreamer faction soon gained its current status as a washed up has-been group of the past.
Simply put young'uns: nobody wishes to return to those dark days of war and bloodshed. Those realist young'uns were taught by their parents to be ruthless against evil, or else they might not live to see the following day's sun rise. Such fear...is what truly gets passed from parent to child: the fear of an undesired past, repeating itself.”
Mr. Abrams: “...”
Noel: “...”
Ophelia: “Good work Noel. I new you'd be alright.”
Noel: “Oh! Thanks, Oph-”
Wayne: “You shouldn't have done that.”
Noel: “...{Again}And why is that?”
Oliviera: “Harvey is...”
Elijah, Oliviera, Wayne and Brennan each looked down, as if pondering a matter so daunting that visible droplets of sweat began to arise from the pores along the surface of their faces.
Brennan: “I...I grew up with Harvey and his goons. They think nothing of other people's personal feelings. Only if they can beat down the bad guy in front of them. They'll hit others and talk down to you, all under the disguise of being realist faction members or “roughhousing”. They follow one track minds that endlessly pursue ways of showing off and gaining recognition. Being the one to drive you out of school sounds like a pretty good way of getting famous...”
Aria : “But... But I DON'T GET IT! How can they still think they can be heroes if they DO things like that! Who could...Who could even think they'd get away with such a thing??”
Alyandrea: “I think... What the professors, Wayne and Brennan are trying to get at, is that they don't SEE their actions as evil.”
Brennan: “Yeah, she's right. It's almost like... killing a deer for sport is seen by humans as cool and we've developed reasons for it too, like culling the population before it grows too much.
But what about for the deer themselves? They probably see us as evil, even when we ourselves don't view it as such. Imagine if the roles were reversed, and we were the ones being culled by an extra terrestrial race so that our population doesn't grow.”
Aria: “But... but still! Even if they don't see themselves as acting bad, they're STILL risking expulsion, aren't they?”
Brennan: “...There's probably some who think that they can get away with it. Or that they're discreet enough to touch us when nobody is around, watching.”
Mr. Abrams: “Pffft! Fat chance of that happening while I'm your teacher.”
Wayne: “By the way... Mr. Abrams. Why...exactly are we running?”
Mr. Abrams: “Because it's healthy for you and we never were able to finish our run before our turn on stage came up. Look: it isn't even that far.”
Every student looked towards the road ahead. For 20 minutes now, they'd been heading North from the temporary assembly stage that had been set up on the eastern side of campus. Northeast was their new destination.
{I was honestly dazzled by the calm, serene peaceful walkway that we're running across at this moment. I can see beautiful flowerbeds being cared for by robots. The flowers are being measured by green – uniformed students, and the grey uniformed people are following each robot extremely closely. Around us, I can see gaping landfills made by tan shirted students, and dark blue shirted students fill each crater sized hole with iridescent, clear liquid formed from thin air. Occasionally, an adult would be seen overseeing one group, before moving on to the next.
And the girls!
.
.
.
...Wait. Huh? What?}
As they jogged past each student group, their respective club's females would suddenly lock deadly stares onto them, or rather, onto Mr. Abrams.
Mr. Abrams Fan #1: “Oh... Oh my God. Oh my God, OH MY GOD!! IT'S... IT'S MR. ABRAMS! AAAHHH~ MR. ABRAMS~!!!”
Mr. Abrams Fan #2: “Yaaah!!”
Mr Abrams Fan #3: “GET HIM!!!!”
One girl followed behind them.
Followed by another.
And Another.
Very soon, the entire Northeastern campus learned of their infamous celebrity's arrival. Naturally, more than half of the girls, and even some guys, were pursuing the group of 12 plus 2 adults.
