《Blue Screen Blues》B2 Chapter 76: Addressing the Crowd

After calming down, Ryan was now seen standing in front of everyone and was receiving everyone’s Attention.

“Who here is happy with their current faction?” Ryan asks them all with the bon fire burning bright behind him.

“Let me see hands of who is happy with their current faction” Ryan asks the crowd.

Suddenly 19 hands fly up into the air and Ryan counts them all.

He then randomly picks a raised hand and asks: “You, who do you belong to, and Why?” He asks the man.

“I belong to Yulee, because I am a fighter and I with how this world is currently headed, I’m scared war will break out and I will need her damage blessing to survive in combat. I mean its kill or be killed right?” The man replies.

Ryan then smiles at him and looks over at Arcadia.

“You know Bunnell also offers a few blessings of her own to survive combat too” Ryan replies to him.

“I’m aware of that, but I can’t live a free life. I don’t want people telling me what to do. I want to be happy until death” He replies back to Ryan.

Ryan then smiles and analyses carefully what the man said.

“You know though with Yulee, your free until death. Then your soul becomes hers to use anyway she wants. I don’t really consider that living free to be honest” Ryan says to the man.

“It’s a condition I signed up for. It’s also a condition that I may never have to encounter. I mean the world is at peace between her and Bunnell. My soul only becomes forfeit in the event of another holy war. If I die today, I’d be free. I’d be happy, knowing I lived my life with no restrictions” He tells Ryan.

Several people who had this man’s same opinion smile and start clapping. Ryan then takes this time to seek out and find people who exhibited a distancing effect from the man. He noticed a few people holding their arms and looking down at the ground and picks up on these people being in a regretful state.

“Here’s the deal. I’m not going to sugar coat this. Some of you may have heard the myth, you know, that I am the son of Bunnell. The myths about me are true, but I don’t follow my mother’s path. I follow a much more different path. I am against Yulee and her whole “serve me and be free till you die” Promise. I also don’t agree with my mother’s “Exclusive Club” mentality. You can’t be yourself, and It seems like you can’t be friends with anyone who is not associated with her faction. If anything, you are almost expected to put down and try to humiliate those who don’t agree with you. For example, when I visited Sivika with my girlfriend Zephyr, we tried to have a sit down meal with our little group of friends, and with Zephyr being a Lyieku; a sinful act for just existing, she received harassment and prejudice right from the start. I also refused to acknowledge her as my savoir and light in front of all those clergy members and they also attacked me with the same treatment as her. The treatment we received was pretty disgusting. She got duck penis served on a platter with a note that said “I hope you choke on it and die” which by the way wasn’t what she ordered, and I got my meal, but they hid a triquetra razor blade inside. This type of behavior pissed us off, while the other members in my group who admitted Bunnell was their shining light out of fear, were treated normally”. Ryan says suddenly being interrupted by another person.

“I have a dire question. If you don’t agree with Bunnell, and you don’t like Yulee, Like who then do you follow then? There are only two gods in this world” the curious woman asks him.

“Wrong. There is a Third” Ryan says with a smile while looking at Arcadia. He then signals her to come up.

Upon saying that, everyone then starts slowly talking among themselves. The scene was almost as if Ryan said something taboo. 18 men glare at him and look at him as if he was crazy. 5 people actually choose to walk away from the crowd and back toward their tents.

As Arcadia enters onto the stage, the mumbling of blasphemy starts getting louder. Ryan then pulls out his phone and whispers something into Arcadia’s ear. Ryan then confidently starts preaching some more.

“Opposed to what the history books tell you, In the Beginning there were Three Goddess’s who came to this world. Yulee, Bunnell, and Arcadia” Ryan says while pointing to Arcadia.

People see her and appear extremely confused now. Ryan then takes Arcadia’s hand and places it onto his phone. He then activates the Projection Mode. Arcadia then projects her memories through the device and the device magically projects it onto the Foliage of the tree behind him. People see this projection and start getting even more uncomfortable with this unknown magic they are seeing. But on the screen, they see Arcadia, Yulee, and Bunnell all standing next to each other. Ryan then starts narrating and Arcadia projects the corresponding memories onto the screen.

“All these three women came to this world together. But soon a battle between Yulee, and Bunnell broke out, and Arcadia chose to stay on the sideline. She didn’t want to take sides, but they both always approached and pressured her to join one’s side. Eventually something happened and in anger they turned on her and got her banished from the world” The projection then shows a Coding contract glowing and her being sucked inside a portal. While the two other women stood tall with a glare clearly being broadcast on their faces with their arms crossed.

“Both of them made it so she couldn’t come back into the world unless a few mere impossible conditions were met. She had to sit in her own little “Room” and watch the world fall into chaos. She felt alone, and helpless and sad unable to do anything about the chaos they were unleashing upon the world. The two goddesses ended up writing her out of the history books and everything you were taught today is basic common knowledge. Now it wasn’t until just these past ten years that Arcadia was rediscovered by Zephyr through a dream. She ended up reaching out and got Arcadia’s blessing which allowed her to start opening up doors to her re-existence into this world. We just now recently, ended up getting her 10 followers which allowed her to step foot back on the world. And ever since then, she’s been devoting her time to helping people” Ryan says while looking at Arcadia proudly.

Three people in the back of the crowd suddenly start making their way forward. When they reach the front, they look at Arcadia and smile.

“I…I was healed by you. You didn’t even ask for anything in return. You even fed me, and my two kids in the city. I had no idea you were a Goddess! I feel so blessed to be in your presence, your Grace!” The man cries out beholden.

The Woman behind them then points at Arcadia and walks up to her looking completely surprised.

“It’s You! It’s REALLY You!!! I can’t believe you are an actual goddess! You Revived me and my team and over in the Anvil Falls Dungeon after we wiped. You Revived all of us and blessed us with Purgatory, which saved me so much money! The appreciative woman says. I never got a chance to thank you! You were there and gone before I got a chance to fully recover. I saw you and never really had a chance to thank you. The woman says while bowing her head.

The last man in the back walks straight up to Arcadia and takes her hand and kisses it. “I am Guard Watch 2nd Lieutenant Grimes. You saved me from a pack of mountain Lions that nearly killed me while I was out exploring on my day off over near Mount Cheat. You saw me losing and healed me up at the perfect time. I was so close to dying, and your timing was just such a blessing. I thanked you and never got your name, but your actions that day allowed me to go home, and on the way home I was able to see the encroaching enemy soldiers marching toward the city, which gave me ample time to warn everyone and give everyone a 10-minute head start. Those precious minutes changed the course of the battle, no doubt. I am forever grateful for your deeds M’lady.” He says while getting off his knees and backing up into the crowd.

After he says that, the whole crowd starts erupting with chatter. People were now whispering among each other about the attack on the town, and people started pointing at Arcadia. Ryan who was reading the vibe of the crowd then gets back into focus in front of the crowd.

“So, her actions of kindness and selflessness actually contributed to somewhat saving the town? That’s good to know” Ryan replies back to the man.

“Mr.Glasser, to be fair your actions actually saved the town; you drove them away with your Reckless and Relentless powers. How ever If she didn’t save me, you would have arrived to the city that would have already been captured, or completely decimated” the man explains.

Ryan walks over to Arcadia and puts his arms around her and starts whispering to her.

“I’m going to pitch it to them” Ryan whispers to her. Just then Zephyr defensively removes Ryan’s hands from Arcadia’s hips in jealously and glares silently at him and crosses her arms. Ryan then realizes he’s still in “Trouble” and can’t do such things with Arcadia in her presence.

Ryan then rolls his eyes at Zephyr and walks back in front of the crowd.

“So here is the deal. Obviously one faction sucks, in your eyes” Ryan says while pointing to someone who had Yulee’s insignia hanging around their neck. “And the other faction sucks in your eyes” Ryan says while pointing to someone wearing His mother’s Insignia.

He then takes a deep breath and feels the warmth of the fire behind and takes time to smell the Pine burning before speaking again.

“I stand before you, offering you all a chance to make history. Arcadia is currently recruiting members to join her faction. No one has to join us, so don’t jump ship with your current Faction feeling that you have to in order to enjoy this little hospitality we are offering you for absolutely free. Those who don’t feel like joining won’t be treated any different then you are now. Our current mission on overthrowing the corrupt officials ruining our nice little town is our top main focus right now. But should someone want to join us and make history, I offer you all this chance to do so now” Ryan says with a convincing and warming smile.

Suddenly 8 people step forward.

“What bonuses does She offer us?” A woman demands.

“Unlike Yulee and my mother, she doesn’t offer healing or damage buffs. She’s got more of a “Survival” approach to her at the moment. Currently she’s offering a Five percent gain on all Experience, Five Percent stat regeneration, Three percent Precision, and a two percent boost to healing effects” Ryan says with a confident smile. He then chuckles a little bit and looks at Arcadia. “But wait there’s more! Instead of specializing on constant variables, she was smart enough to specialize on inconstant variables too. At night, if the moon is hidden, Boom: Twenty percent damage and healing boost. Also, every new moon we get a sexy one hundred Percent damage, Healing, and effect boost” Ryan says with a very aggressive Salesman voice. Arcadia then walks in front of him and puts her finger up at him.

“I also have plans on in the future to lower the cooldown times for Teleportation mages by fifty percent, should in the event I ever get established medium ranking faction” Arcadia says softly before walking back out of focus.

Ryan then crosses his arms and stares at the crowd. “You all hear that? She’s got more perks lined up in the future! This is a good deal without any extreme “catch” if you die, or any extreme devotion and lifestyle change” Ryan says with a huge smile on his face. The minute he said that Arcadia rubs her arm nervously. She then looks down at the ground and ponders on something haunting her. There was something she didn’t tell Ryan and was wondering if she should tell him now or later. She then looks at all the enlightened faces in the crowd staring at her and smiles.

“He’s doing his bit. I need to just stand here and smile. I’ll tell him only if we ever reach that threshold of followers. But that’s highly unlikely. Athena and Discordia dominate this world. Like they said a while ago. I am a nobody” Arcadia thinks to herself now feeling depressed. “Great, now I’m feeling emo” Arcadia thinks to herself.

A woman in the crowd then raises her hand. Ryan then points to her.

“You there what do you have on your mind” Ryan asks her.

“I have a question. How is she able to provide those types of perks? I mean it seems like we get more promised than what Bunnell and Yulee offers. How can you offer more to us then they can?” She asks doubtfully.

Arcadia takes a deep breath and tries to break out of her shy state she just put herself in.

“I…I am not intentionally using my faction for war games. I mean in honesty I can’t attack either of them. I have to be neutral” she says while opening up a portal and pulling out a Coding contract from it. She then hangs it over her head and let’s go. It floats above her with “holy like” glowing blue borders around it.

“It’s hard to explain. But here. Let me give you a more detailed history lesson. This is a Coding contract. All three of us goddess’s use these to make deals with each other. We also use it to change the rules of the universe, Dimension, and “magic” and what not. We in the beginning used this to trade spells we had with one another for spells we wanted or didn’t want. That is why Bunnell, and Yulee seem to have specialized forms of spells that match their factions’ fundamentals. I have spells they didn’t want, and they have spells I had at one time I traded them to shut them up and leave me alone. This ended up leading to my downfall when I tricked them by making them give up their height, and their “lady-endowments” to me. This made them plot against me and ended up making me sign away my fate. This little magical little thing sealed my fate when I signed it. This led them to fight each other non-stop while stuck up there helpless to do anything about it. They ended up having a “Arms Race” with each other that they spent points on to help counter-act each other’s tactics. As you all know, Yulee dumped a crap load on points on obtaining a copy of Necromancy; a default power I actually have, but don’t use. She copied my power and specialized it in her own way, as allowed by these little “Coding Contracts” we exchanged in the past” Arcadia says while pulling out 30 plus more from the portal she had opened. Ryan feeling nosey walks over to the nearest one that was floating around him and takes a quick glance at one and reads a text that says:

“In exchange for giving up and sharing HALF of my exclusive power of gravity manipulation between you two, I Hecate am allowed EXCULSIVE access to being able to summon forth foreign objects for my amusement or enjoyment at the cost 1% of each of your base mana each cast. [Balancer Status: Accepted]

Upon reading that he smiles and feels relived that this great mystery on why she can summon in Monster energy drinks was allowed. He then quickly switches back his focus to Arcadia who was talking still.

“While I was locked up, Bunnell countered this by spending her points on a trait that allowed her to demolish the scores of undead with ease that she would summon. Both traits ended up getting locked up into an evolution arms race between the two factions, and this allowed the Undead to get stronger, and Bunnell’s Undead slaying blessing to get stronger. Almost like the coevolutionary characteristics of the Newt and the Garter snake. Well, they ONLY focused on increasing their stats for warfare and countering each other. I on the other hand have no preexisting issue with them since I was never at war with them. But while I was locked away in my own little faction room, I was offered the ability to specialize into things they haven’t chosen for CHEAP. Mainly Defensive attributes, Experience, and maybe one day, Teleportation” Arcadia tells the woman.

“Well, it’s interesting how you don’t fit the war path as they do, but in my opinion your stats sound like trash. I mean, we can smell war between factions a mile away with what Mriya is doing. I don’t want to follow someone who’s only contribution to me is experience increase and “Maybe one day” teleportation. I need someone who dominates Like Yulee. So, no offense I’m passing on your offer to join” The woman says with a sour tone.

Arcadia walks down from the stage and frowns at the woman. “I respect your choice. I’m not perfect, but I have room to grow. The more people I get, the stronger my buffs get. But you can count on me not wasting my faction points on pointless stuff like how Bunnell and Yulee does. I’ll be about making my followers life easier. Not about power, control and domination.” Arcadia tells the woman.

Ryan then pulls her back on stage.

“So, anyone sold? Who wants to join our little ‘Cult’ ” Ryan says jokingly.

Suddenly there were 27 faction abandon signs above people’s heads. Then suddenly all those people then rush forward toward the stage. Ryan then smiles and looks at Zephyr.

“Your turn” he says with a smile. He then walks away with Arcadia and leaves Zephyr with the duty of Initiation.

Arcadia was amazed at how much he was able to Reel in in one go, but that hidden secret she was hiding from him started to cloud her mind. But she makes up a real quick excuse to get away from him.

“I need to go check up on Breanna. I’ll be back in thirty minutes” Arcadia says hastily. She then opens a portal and steps through and closes the portal behind her. Ryan who was a little confused, walks back toward the crowd amid Zephyr finishing the initiation procedure, the acceptance icons above people’s heads start to glow bright. As people look around each other and appreciate the new faction they joined, Ryan looks at the non-converters whispering among each other.

He walks over to them and approaches them carefully.

“Just a heads up. Like I said earlier. No one is being forced to join this new faction I’m trying to bring alive. You all still are welcome to have a great time here. I mean if you are not comfortable with being around us anymore, I will understand. He tells them.

“We are still interested in the original plan. It’s just we were confused if this free little vacation you offered us came with a catch” The eldest man says.

“No, there still is no catch. I just offered an opportunity to those who were not happy. Everything else I promised is still in play” Ryan assures him.

Another woman then cuts in.

“I mean, we are still down for this gracious opportunity to piss off those over-controlling Delandian’s since we know they are almost in the same bed as Mriya. I mean if we don’t help you with your problem, whos to say Mriya is going to do the same thing to our lovely town of Edough in the future?” A younger woman says.

Upon hearing there was no divide or change in plan from this, Ryan feels extremely happy.

“I’m glad to hear you all are still on board. Tomorrow we shall have an epic beach day So get ready!” Ryan says sounding all excited.

Pretty soon Ryan summons forth his friends back inside the house. Then everyone has a quick rundown of how tomorrow is going to play out. Then they all head to bed.
