《The World After》ARK 2 BEGINS

I opened my eyes to nothing but darkness.
“W-Where am I?” my voice echoed through the dark space. I stepped forward stretching my hands all over the place trying to touch something.
“You shouldn’t be here boy.” A voice echoed from behind me.
I turned to look, but no one was there.
“W-Who are you?!!” I asked turning my head frantically, looking for whoever said that. My heart was racing fast, I could hear the noise it was making.
“You’ve already forgotten?” the voice asked sounding closer than last time.
“I don’t know you” I said as I slowly walked backwards focusing on the direction the voice was coming from. I continued to walk backwards and not too long, I tripped falling on my back. I looked up to see what I tripped over. It was a body, a young child’s body, its front facing the ground.
I couldn’t tell if it was male or female or if it was dead or alive. “Hey! Are you okay?”
“Didn’t I tell you not to trust anyone?” The voice spoke again coming from right behind me. My body turned cold and my breathing stopped. I turned around slowly to see Furoto with a sword in his hand, the same one he tried to kill me with that faithful night. His soulless eyes glowed in the dark like a devil of hell, his voice still devoid of emotion.
“What do you want…? Furoto?” I asked, my blood slowly beginning to boil of rage. He was silent. Before I could ask again, I felt a cold hand touch my shoulder. I turned around to see the body that was on the floor but, without its head. “AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!” I screamed in horror as I pushed the body away from me.

I got up and began running as fast as I could. I turned around after a while to see that both of them were not there, I stop to look in front of me. They were in the distance, both standing side by side staring at my soul. The headless corpse instantly began running towards me so fast that I couldn’t react.
It pushed me to the ground and held me in one place “G-Get off me!” I barked. Furoto started walking slowly towards me. His sword scratched the floor emitting a searing noise.
The noise was getting closer and closer. I struggled and shouted but to no avail. Furoto was now on top of me and the corpse. I tried to close my eyes but I couldn’t, like a force was keeping them open.
Furoto raised his sword up ready to strike “P-Please!” I whined.
“Didn’t I tell you not to trust anyone… Kai?” Furoto said, his voice just as vacant as before.
His sword came down. As I finally closed my eyes, I could only think of the question he asked.
‘You did…’
….
I woke up with a start, my entire body covered in cold sweat, my bones still shivered from the dream I had. I was in a dimly lit room, nothing was inside except the bed I was lying on, a table and a candle on it that brightened the place a little. I could tell the walls were not made of cement, so I stretched my hand to check it. It felt moist and damp and the room smelt like rotten egg.
‘This place… is this a sort of house?’ I thought to myself as I sat up. I took the candle on the table and looked around the room. There were several stalagmites and Stalactites.

“I’m in a cave?” I asked myself puzzled by how I got there. “Wasn’t I in a cell?”
Suddenly, I heard the door open. Straightaway, I dropped the candle on the table and laid back on the bed.
“Wake up dude!” it sounded like a guy, his voice was toneless and deep. “Seriously man wake up.”
“…” I kept quiet hoping that he would leave or something.
“Alright, have it your way.” I felt myself getting lifted from the bed I was on with no struggle at all “You’re such a pain, you know that?”
“H-Hey!!” I shouted trying to get off him.
“Best not to struggle man.” He explained as he continued on his way.
“What are you doing?!!” I yelled shaking my entire body to release myself from his grasp. “WHERE ARE YOU TAKING ME?!!”
“Calm down dude.”
“…Fine.” I sighed, finally accepting my defeat. “But can you at least tell me where we are?”
“You sure you want that kind of information?” the man asked.
“Well… you did sorta kidnap me.” I explained expressing my annoyance “And, I want some answers.”
“*Sigh*, Alright man you win.” He said as we continued into the dark cave. “This place you see…” he paused. Was probably waited for me to tell him stop. “…Is the hideout of the Sinners’ Creed.”
“…Ummmmmmmm… and that means?” I asked nonchalantly not understanding why that was so special.
The guy stopped in his tracks (Probably from shock) “Are you serious?” he asked, and for once, actually had a sounded surprised and embarrassed.
“What?”
“You don’t know us?” he asked.
“Should I?” I was still confused with the situation at hand.
He continued walking. “Dude.” His voice was back to default mode.
“Did I do something wrong.”
“You’re not very bright, are you.” He asked as he stopped again.
“What’s that meant to mean?!!”
“Do you know anything about assassins and thieves” he asked. It seemed like he was crouching and trying to tie something.
“Besides that they’re bad news? No, not really.” I shook my head contemplating why he would ask such a question.
“Ahhh I see, you’re one of those rich kids that always get lost? Or the type that ran from home?”
“What n-, I mean I did run bu-”
“I see.” he said as he wrapped something round my waist.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!?” I roared.
“Relax, I’m just making sure you land safely.” He explained as he lifted me off his shoulder and pushed me away at arm’s length like he was carrying a child he didn’t like.
“BUT, I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS!!” I said as I turned on my night vision. ‘I still can’t see his face? It’s still too dark?’ I pondered wondering how that was even possible.
“Not interested, and not my problem.” As he said this, he released me from his grip “See you later dude.”
“W-WAIT!”
I soon quickly realised something .The feeling, I knew I was falling down a hole.

Old Riding Author Lunatic Asylum
Just off the A19, in the dark, incomprehensible lands known as Yorkshire, there lies a town. A town where shadow-silent alleys glint with the secret hunger of knives. Where blood soaks the chipboard window shutters of forsaken terraces stretching off into the night. Where the smog-choked air rattles with the depraved laughter echoing out from clubs that can only generously be described as post-apocalyptic. Well, that’s Middlesbrough. But down the A19 a bit (an impossibly long way down, actually) there lies another town: Raughnen, in the ancient, forgotten Old Riding. It is an equal match in muggery and thuggery alike. It also has magic spells and pointy wizard hats. And now, across the miles and across all sensibilities, a pretty nasty power (a magic one) calls out for its pretty nasty counterpart (a decidedly unmagic one): a proper sound Boro lad. Nothing good can come of it. This is a collection of one novella and four connected short stories: I. A Yorkshire Summoning II. Old Riding Day Trip (the novella) III. Heaven is a Parmo IV. Death on the 66 V. Death on the 257 In total, this comprises 34 chapters totalling around 35,000 words, so try not to worry. It will be over relatively quickly. There are three more short stories with more tenuous links to the core collection: Rush, Paper Round and Scenario 79: Sausage Fingers, all of which can be found in my collection Short Records of Misadventure. Reading these may allow you to make more sense of certain parts of the story, if any sense is to be made at all. NOTE: There are instances of prejudice and discrimination within these stories, including elements of sexism and ageism, which are purely the thoughts and actions of the characters involved and which certainly do not reflect my own views on these matters. ANOTHER NOTE; A WARNING, PERHAPS: This can get a bit weird. In less than 150 pages, we have four viewpoints, first and third person narratives, and a completely disjointed plot with lots of gaps, dead ends and no real resolution. Also ZERO lunatic asylums. It's all a bit odd. If that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea, which it most likely isn't, it might be best to move on now.

Dungeon Crawler Katia
The aliens killed everyone on Earth...almost. Every structure, from the Taj Mahal to the lowliest lobster trap, vanished into the earth, killing everyone inside. The survivors were given a choice: Endure on the surface without food or shelter or tools, or descend into a world-spanning nightmare dungeon that is also a reality TV show. Katia, an art professor from Iceland who has given up her humanity to transform into a shapeshifting doppelganger, meets up with Carl and his cat, Donut. Together, the three fight to survive in a dungeon filled with Clarketech goblin murderdozers and pyramid-scheme fairy moonshine-makers. The above is, of course, describing Dungeon Crawler Carl. With DoctorHepa's (the author) permission I'm posting some fanfic to expand on Katia, one of the secondary characters who started off not getting as much exploration as I would have preferred. I started off writing chapters that matched up to canon except from her POV instead of Carl's; that lasted a couple of chapters before going off the rails and spinning off into a completely new story, which suggests I should really go back and renumber all the chapters as soon as I find some tuits.
