Late at night, the rain was pouring down like a waterfall at the Lin clan's domain.

Currently in the manor, all were praying the heaven's and trying to get favors from the gods.

As to why? The clan leader's wife was having her second childbirth!

If it was a normal childbirth then no one would care, because as long as they was a successor to the Lin's family , then the clan's future would be bright.

The first child born was a male, he was named Lin Chen . But sadly the heaven's weren't fair, he was born with broken meridians and unable to practice martial art.

Now all the hopes were on the second child.

After a few minutes, the nurse opened the door, and walked out of the room.

"How... How is it?"

" The child was born safely..."

At the response came from her mouth, the clan leader was overjoyed and the elders were all smiling.

"... but the mistress"

"What about my wife??? what did happen?!"

"The mistress lost a lot of her blood during the process, she died after giving birth... and also, the child is a young healthy girl"

At her words, the clan leader Lin Fang fell on his knees, he wanted to cry, but no tears came.

It seemed like the whole world was silent, time stopped.

The elders were also dead silent, not because of the death of the mistress, but for the fact that the child was born female. That would mean that the clan would never achieve their past glory in their lifetime, but it didn't continue for long. After all as long as she is a female, she can give birth to another successor, so all hopes weren't completely shattered.

After some moment, Lin Fang finally went back up, and said with a hoarse voice.

" Where is my child? "

The nurse went back to the room and got out holding the little baby in her hands and she gave it to him.

"The mistress... before she died, she chose a name. She wanted to name her Lin Mei"

Nothing in his whole life was like this moment when he held her for the first time. He kept looking at her and went to a side room where no one was there. He was feeling sad , tears finally went down, but at the same time he had a bright smile on his face.

" So be it, she will be called Lin Mei!"
