《Smoke and Murders》What I have to do

So... That was what she was….
A beautiful lie.
Her own body started forming cracks in place of her usual scarring.
Her scars began to leak.
That feeling of decay was a soul that was extinguished a long time ago.
The cracks seep black ooze.
She hated those responsible for bringing her here. They killed a child for her to live…
And for what?
To keep this place alive.
Black ooze pours from her mouth.
She saw the machine behind it all.
To get this all to stop...
It has to be turned off.
By who?
Who can possibly be able to? She was not made to even touch it.
Horns of her answer were what she saw.
Suffocation of the ventis cut off her breathing.
Amongst it all, there was shouting.
She understood what she has to do so clearly now. Every angel has a purpose to their city. Every angel instinctively knows its purpose. Every angel had a power associated with it.
She had none, however, she knew what she had to do.
That goat embraced her.
“Carole! What the Fuck! Seriously, snap out of it!”
The onslaught of thoughts that made it hard to think, the memories not her own filling her head halted. Surprised at the sudden affection but Carole’s hands gripped the back of his coat. Making sure he was there and in the smell of his cheap apple-scented cologne…
She was sorry, but... She'll get him to do it once she's able to.
He had no association to anything, thus he would be able to touch the machine.
He would...
He would...
Fluid leaked onto his coat.
Not of that black bile previously pouring from her body... but of water and salt.
His hand caressed through her messy black hair in a stiff and somewhat awkward motion.

He was quiet; it was so unlike him, he just stood where he was, a hand on her back, ignored the set of ivory wings and another hand moved through her hair.
He sucked in air through his teeth, letting out a small hiss of pain as he moved his hand from her back on his head as if he was having a headache.
“Fuck me… this is… This is... so not how I thought investigations would go," He groaned
It now occurred to her he was not ignoring her new wings.
His hands held onto one of four of her black wings tightly. Firmly, bending at an angle.
It was finally obvious now that Hide was not untouched during this. That black ooze from her body’s cracks, although it stopped flowing, had left some mild burns on his bare hands and legs.
What a mess.
Ilden’s has just been getting colder and colder with every year.
Hide’s, despite his pain, loosened his grip on her wing, “You are still an angel. Not to them, but to me... Does that make you feel better?” His smile out of context would seem one of innocent joy. No... It was technically.
“There are many ways to sneak in poisons to a party,” He said. "It would be a big gift to my Loulou."
Does not even bother to hide it anymore, does he...
Idiot......
"Yeah... I know that, Just measure the doses correctly," she replied back.
Her wings shrank to a small manageable size, still pitch black, and the cracks in her flesh were less prominent as Hide let her go once he was affirmed she was okay.
The goat man released a sigh of relief and shoved into his pockets and moved some distance away.
“Well, Miss angel girl, looks like we have our work cut out for us,” He said looking up at the ceiling trying to ignore the elephant in the room.
Carole stood up, brushing herself off and flexing her wings when a group of hooded figures, one by one, entered the church.
The duo stood stiff; at the sudden appearance of these suspicious figures.
Carole wondered with her new wings if she could fly and make an escape if things here get too messy.
“We are calling you two into questioning. we thank you in advance for your cooperation.”

I'm still writing the entirety of Volume 2. WARNINGS:-Yes, this contains LitRPG elements after a slow start, promise.-This work is incredibly Slice-of-Life heavy-Also conversation heavy-Also plot heavy (But not in that way, unfortunately)-The pacing in terms of plot is slow -(Edit after a review)- This story is also known as: I honestly don't understand what's the difference between "light" and "dark" stories. I realized that far too late, so this story is... weird. It might be light at times, and dark at times, and in all honesty, definitely has dark undertones. Oh, and prepare to be disappointed or pleased by this story; I understand that this story is polarizing, at least. Cover made by: Fei (@Chippy03966650) / Twitter
