《DOPEMAN》Shaman's Trial

I walked through the old lake house. The chipped wood, the fading environment. I felt this odd sensation. I was leaving this world almost. I walked into a room, it had a man with ragged clothes. He had different color irises. One is green and the other is brown. He had tattoos similar to the Demon markings I saw back at the park. He turns to me. "The DOPEMAN." He had a deep booming voice. It was almost inhuman. "Sit."
I slowly sit down. "How do you know my name?"
"The SPIRITS."
"And what are these spirits?
"The SPIRITS are the SPIRITS."
I roll my eyes. "As long as these spirits can help me."
Shaman shakes his head. "I require a TEST. The RIGHTEOUS men desire to CONTROL the SPIRITS. Will you do the same?"
"No. All I need is their help. I'll take your test. What is it, algebra or something?"
He laughed. "Comedy from the DOPEMAN. The SPIRITS told your story. A tale of a man who sold the POISON to your hometown. It filled you with a head of guilt and a heart of loneliness. Now you want to redeem yourself by DELIVERING items."
"Uh...Yeah. So what's this test?"
Shaman hands me this pipe. I hold it in my hand and look at the object. It looked familiar. There's no way it could be what I think it is...
"You sold the POISON to your town, but have you ever tasted the POISON?" He asked.
I knew it. It's crack. He spiked it too. Laced it with something. Hopefully, it won't kill me. I grab his lighter and smoked. As I coughed the smoke, I felt...
Wrong.
The room started to fall apart.
Shaman laughs and chants something. He was performing some rituals. I look around to see a gray void, almost cloud-like. It was storming, lightning and thunder. I stand. I look down to see my lack of weapons. All I got is my arm blade. Desert Demons pop from the ground suddenly, ready to strike. They had eyes of flame. The skin of lava. I started running. Running far away. I trip and fall. As I get up, I see my mother.

"What's wrong?" She asked me. "I thought you forgot everything? I thought you went to church? I thought you forgave yourself?"
You're not real.
"I'm very real, [READACTED]. Oops! I said your name. You're the Dopeman now right."
You left me. You made me like this.
"You left me to fend for myself. Your own mother. Shame on you-"
Don't say my name.
"What? Still on that, boy? Nobody cares about you. You're the Dopeman. that's it."
I'm more than that.
"Then what are you?"
I...I am...
"What? What?"
I suddenly see my mother's face melt into another Desert Demon. I squeeze my palm and cut its head off. I bled lava. I start chopping and killing all I could. I was going mad. But I had to. I had to keep it pushing. As the bodies around me start to decay. I felt weak.
I fall to my knees.
With all this, I still feel ok. I'm ok. I hear the news and the tears around me, but it doesn't affect me.
I'm gon be alright.
Why?
Because I am Dopeman.
The room started to reform. I pass out.
I think I beat the trial. I hope.

Awakened; Dungeon Tales
For decades now, strange places inhabited with monsters have been appearing across the globe. People call them dungeons and those who enter them delvers. For years, delvers explored and conquered, becoming beacons of hope—idols in a world wracked by war. Nowadays, thousands of youths each year undergo the Awakening ritual, foregoing their mundane life in favor of a more magical one. Marco is one such youth. He has a cushy life and a good family that wishes only what is best for him. He isn’t satisfied, however—he wants more. What exactly, he doesn’t know. He only knows that inside the confines of what is considered normal, he won’t find it. I update twice a week, on Tuesday and on Saturday. P.s. Before you start reading, I would like to say a few words. For starters, I never thought I would one day publish something on this website, and I want to thank all the other authors who inspired me to do so. I would also like to thank whoever spends their time to read my novel—it means a lot. So, thank you. Finally, I think it is imperative I warn you. I’m not a native English speaker: English is not my first language. If you see mistakes, feel free to point them out. I will correct them as soon as I have the time to do so. Cover: It was done by Ioannis Ioannidis. It can be found for free on Pixabay. Should the author ask, I will remove it immediately.
8 183Trial of Champions
It all began with a family trip to an amusement park. How were any of us to expect being transported from Earth to participate in some "Trial of Champions," whatever that was supposed to be? Given only an hour to choose the Classes that would come to define our strengths, we were almost immediately torn away from one another and thrust into a deadly game of survival. It wasn't all bad, though, as terrifying as it could be from time to time. The supernatural and magical powers of the Classes were like something out of an RPG, complete with leveling up by killing monsters and completing so-called "Sub-Trials." And despite the juicy Experience to be gained from killing other Champion Contestants, not all of the participants were bloodthirsty murderers; some could be allied with, or even befriended. Even if it seemed like everyone who had been chosen for this Trial, no matter what universe they came from, was at least a little bit crazy. I would survive this till the end, and I'd make sure that my siblings and parents did as well, no matter how many times we were separated from one another. No matter how long it took. No matter what I had to do. --- A first-person litRPG incorporating classes inspired by D&D and other sources. If you like blue boxes but don't need to have huge lists of numbers to scratch your itch, you should be satisfied on that front. Each chapter is, in my word processing document, seven pages long (approximately 3300-3900 words). The Traumatizing Content warning is there because of discussions of certain topics. Nothing that I think deserves the warning actually happens in the story.

8 165Rage: Crisis / Consequence / ???
Its been ten years since Seth was given his powers, ten years since his town was driven mad by that very same power, and ten years since its source was shunted into his head. A species of energy beings, a people filled with regret for what their entrance onto this world caused. Regret for the deaths that town perpetuated, the devastation they brought, the blow they served to the once proud heroes of this world. Heroes Seth now hopes to join, hopes to heal and atone to for what transpired. But their wounds run deep, their ire sharp, and their acceptance thin. And to top it all off... Seth's power is run far deeper than he knows, and sees his world in a light all its own. This series is my first foray into authoring, with two parts out of at best four if the readership stands. But part three will still book end nicely otherwise. And I'm not stopping till then. It is action heavy with varied and ramping up fight scenes through out. (Book 1 is heavy / Book 2 a little lighter) It is bloody in places, mildly gory in others, and heavily gory in simulated places. Nothing truly horrifying, I think, but be warned. It has trauma. PTSD is a major part of the story, but I will never trust that I got it completely right, so your mileage may vary on how believable or impactful it is. Lastly it has language. Swearing ebbs and flows as the story progresses and attitudes harden or soften. Sometimes bleeding through into the narration... somehow.
