《Development of hamster space civilization [Space strategy]》Chapter 8. Pipe dream

Some months had passed and the abrai's anthropologists had left the planet. They had done their work and lost any interest in the mouchi race. As a parting gift the abrai built a galactic communicator – a large satellite dish - close to the settlement. It was a very useful device. Now the mouchi race could communicate with an entire galaxy.
Another parting gift was an acknowledgment of the hamsters' sovereignty over the K-5135343435 from Abrai Hegemony. Now the hamsters were known as “Mouchi Autocracy” and on the galactic map K-5135343435 was renamed as “Katak”.
The hamsters' population continued to grow. The race had reached three thousand numbers approximately: a thousand adult mouchi and two thousand children. The young race would starve if not a plentiful harvest. The abrai's crops had saved the young race from running into problems.
New population needed homes. That's why the government - the mouchi in the town hall - decided to expand the settlement's territory. Besides, the granary was full, and that allowed to engage more hamsters to a construction site.
Now a large mob of mouchi worked diligently outside the town. The mouchi erected new houses daily. As well, they were clearing a new part of the jungle. They needed a space for a new large field.
The archaeologists continued their work on the planet. They had found other ruins of the same perished primitive civilization. The abrai learned that those humanoids had tamed some animals, knew how to work with bronze, gold, and some other metals, could build small wooden ships, and cultivated some crops.
But each archaeologist had the same question. What had caused the fall of this primitive civilization?
Unfortunately, they didn't have an answer to the question so far, except Seed. The ball had learned what had happened to the fallen primitive civilization.
About a month ago Seed's centipede looked for some food in the mountain range. In one of the caves it had found a hidden spaceship. It was a small vessel.

Of course, this finding couldn't be left without Seed's attention.
At last! He thought excitedly, Some high-tech!
Soon the ball – accompanied by another centipede - had reached the spaceship that looked like an old rusty barrel and stood on short feet. That sight wasn't promising. But at least this thing can fly... Yes?
Seed couldn't find any openings on the vessel's hull. He came closer and tried to open the hull with the help of his sharp tentacles to no avail.
Um... Despite its rustiness this metal is sturdy.
The ball commanded the centipedes to spit out some acid at the spaceship. These creatures had special glands with acid inside. The giant insects did as it was ordered. The metal on the hull hissed. It took some time to melt the metal down.
Finally Seed got in through a breach. The centipedes were left outside as guards. Inside the spaceship looked as if it was abandoned a long time ago. All cabins were empty.
Close to the captain's bridge, the black ball found marks of a fight that was coming off here a long time ago. Some skeletons in space suits lay in the corridors, holding guns.
Wow, they had a fierce dispute here, Seed thought, bypassing corpses. Interesting, why did they fight?
The door to the captain's bridge was breached. The ball came in. Some skeletons in space suits lay there as well. There were rows of computers and a captain's seat. Behind the captain's seat hung a large sign which – Seed was sure - should mean something. But Seed didn't care. He came here for technology.
Soon a gradual process of spaceship eating began. Seed ate the vessel with gusto, getting a portion of knowledge with every eaten piece.
The ball had devoured all insides meticulously, even the skeletons weren't spared. All found gadgets Seed ate as snacks.
They crunch funny, He thought.

Then the ball devoured the hull. The outer metal was difficult to digest.
The whole process lasted about two weeks. In the end not even a piece of the spaceship was left in the cave.
Seed had returned to his base with much knowledge. As well, he knew what had happened on this planet many centuries ago. Computers stored a lot of information in their database.
A long time ago there was a society far away from Katak, on another planet. That society was bad, evil, corrupted, and... bad again. Well, at least in this believed some members of a particular sect who lived... No, suffered in that bad society.
One day those members of that sect gathered together and left their evil planet. They wanted to build a sound society where each member would be happy.
Spending some time in hyperspace, the fanatics had reached Katak and found that the planet was occupied by some primitives.
It isn't bad, they thought, because a fine society can be good to everyone.
They decided to integrate the primitives to their good society, but a little later when a fine society would be built.
The fanatics landed on the planet and began to build their sound community. But the process went not as they expected. The fanatics lacked many things that a young colony needed. Besides, it turned out that they weren't as dear friends as they thought at the beginning of their trip. As a result, conflicts began to occur among them. Later the first batch of fanatics was exiled from the fine community.
It should help, the good society thought. We have expelled all rotten apples from our ranks.
Unfortunately, it didn't. The exiles wanted revenge. Therefore, they went to the primitives and declared themselves as their gods.
The fine community continued to live, accumulating problems and disputes with every passing day. So it wasn't unexpected when a new batch of rotten apples appeared in a fine community again. Of course, they were exiled immediately. The new batch of exiles also decided to be gods.
When the sound community got news about what their exiles had done, it became angry, because it couldn't forgive the exiles for this unbelievable deception. The exiled fanatics – as proper exiles - should live in dirt, daily crying about their foolishness. But what the fine community had found?! Yes, an unbelievable deception! The exiles lived a good life, even daring to plan a revenge! Without a doubt the fine community couldn't stand idly. Thus, a war broke out.
It was the beginning of the end. Both sides didn't have many weapons or ammunition, but the exiles had local warriors under their command. It was a treat to the good colony. Therefore, the members of fine society decided to become a little evil – of course, only for a period of war - and also declared themselves as gods to gather their own warriors.
Soon a cruel war was burning on the lands of primitive civilization, where blood flowed like rivers. No one wanted to give up. A genocide was a right word for what was coming off in that time. As a result, the primitive civilization was destroyed by the exiles and the fine community. Small groups of primitives ran into the jungle from their gods, where they disappeared forever.
The final act of that war had happened inside the spaceship. In the end both sides realized that an idea of ideal society was a pipe dream. Hence, they decided to leave the planet. Neither side wanted to give a free ride to the other side. A fight was unavoidable.

Madness Led by the Hands
‘Great, no… splendid. It was for naught.’ ‘Naught? Depends. If your desire is to send an army of killers our family’s way, yes indeed. If it’s plain survival you seek, then no.’ ‘They don’t coexist?’ ‘What… don’t tell me you’re still all groggy from the fall. Perhaps in novels, but real life is much tougher–––many more times a drag than anyone can possibly imagine. If dusty history is not a reliable teacher for you, then the pandemic surely took that place. At least that one has the advantage you needn’t be literate to savvy how reality always trumps imagination.’ ‘Whatever you say, whatever you say. So… what now?’ ‘Now? Isn’t it obvious? Now we shall survive. And live a good life.’ ‘Ohh… pretty much everything here has something against this little weird wish of ours. Might you consider?’ ‘Then pretty much everything here is a goner.’ ‘Hm, I don’t like the sound of that. Too much trouble, you see. I’d prefer laying low somewhere safe.’ ‘…nobody told you it’s mutually exclusive, no–––or did you forget about that too?’ ‘Fine, then I wish my future enemies all the best.’ ‘They are undeserving of your pity.’ ‘Of course not. That unlucky bunch won’t ever comprehend the reason behind their demise. Just let me smoke in peace and offer my condolence in advance.’ ‘Idem, let me study alchemy, unobstructed by all, if possible. This also includes you. By the way, are you sure you smoke to offer condolences? It seems like an excuse to me.’ ‘I-it is none. Plain truth, you see?’ ‘Seriously, why did I even ask...?’
