《Development of hamster space civilization [Space strategy]》Chapter 2. Creating own race

Inside of the base Seed decided to create its perfect race immediately.

First of all, he had hoarded a lot of food in the lab. Seed didn't want to be distracted from the process of creation due to a lack of food. No more missed breakfasts! A lack of nutrients could have a catastrophic effect on his work. That was unacceptable for Seed.

Then Seed began to write embryos' DNA. With a help of DNA coder he changed the hamsters' skeleton to make the future race bigger, higher, and stronger than their brothers in the jungle. He adjusted their brain to make the hamsters smarter. Seed integrated some useful knowledge (like a language) with their DNA. As well, he added some intricate adjustments to set in stone the hamsters' loyalty to their creator.

When work was finished, Seed examined the ready DNA code. It looked right. But he was a little worried about the last adjustments, because they were intricate. There could be mistakes in the DNA code.

But I hope nothing goes wrong, Seed thought and activated a process of physical embryos creating, which lasted a few boring days.

All those days Seed went hunting. He had even gotten a little bigger.

Finally the embryos had been formed. Seed hurried to place them in an artificial womb. He wanted to get his first subordinates as soon as possible.

A boring week had passed and the artificial womb had given a life to little babies. Each baby had a different color of fur: gray, green, pink, blue, and red. Seed called this new race “mouchi”.

It turned out that the babies were noisy beings. As well, they cried and peed a lot. Unexpectedly Seed realized that he likes to be outdoors. Hence, he created some nannies for the noisy babies. They were insects which looked like ants. Sadly, but those nannies were quite stupid beings. They could execute just simple commands.

The next month didn't consist of only boring days. There were also difficult and stressful days. Seed went hunting to the jungle regularly and drugged many food back to home. It was like a conveyor. The babies grew quickly and ate a lot.

By the end of the month the mouchi grew up.

Finally! tired Seed thought happily.

He had even celebrated that day with the adult hamsters. Seed gifted a simple spear – a stick with a sharp stone that was attached to its end - to each mouchi with a hope that they would bring a lot of food to him. The hamsters looked touched, and some of them even cried.

It seems they are also eager to bring food to me.

It was a tender moment. The ball had even thought that he began to like these plump creatures with big ears, huge eyes, slightly elongated faces, and big black noses.

The next day a group of five armed mouchi walked - on their hind legs – to the jungle. It was their first hunt.

Father will be proud of us! They thought.

They were eager to prove their usefulness to their creator, but – truth be told – the hamsters also worried. They were afraid of failure.

Meanwhile, Seed watched the hamsters with the help of so-called “psy-cells”, special cells that allowed Seed to maintain a mental contact with each mouchi even at a great distance. These psy-cells were made by Seed, and they were in each mouchi's head.

The group of five armed mouchi entered the jungle. Seed continued to watch them through their mental connection. He worried about their success. Because if they fail, he would miss dinner, and also he would be forced to go to the jungle to find a meal for himself.

Fortunately, the five proud hamsters had returned with a prey soon. It was a dead spider.

A foolish thing thought that it could escape from my fluffy predators.

Seed saw their hunt from the beginning to the end. It was a complete success. A dinner wouldn't be missed.

The mouchi had drugged their prey to their creator, right on top of the hill.

Oh, how considerate of you to bring the food right to me!

Seed was touched to see that. All his efforts paid off right now!

My children are able to supply their papa with free food! Excellent work, Seed! Now I know that children are useful assets to their parents! I definitely need to have more babies!

The mouchi looked expectantly at their creator. Seed sent them an approving telepathic signal and grabbed a spider by one of his tentacles.

Bon appetite to me!~

Nom! Nom!

Crunch! Crunch!

The mouchi looked with admiration as black tentacles devoured the corpse of a spider. This scene showed the strength of their father.

Suddenly Sussi - a female mouchi - said passionately. "Great Father is so strong!"

The rest of the hamsters nodded.

Seed halted eating.

Um... I know that. He thought.

Seed focused his senses on Sussi and felt as fast her heart was beating. Pulse also was high.

Does she get sick?

Frankly, Sussi always behaved strangely in Seed's eyes. Since childhood she could stare at him for a long time with a strange emotion in her eyes. She often blushed when talked to him. Sometimes Sussi had even tried to stalk Seed, thinking foolishly that he must be blind. That was a strange behavior from Seed's standpoint. He even had thought of disposing of her a few times.

“That's true, my child. I am strong. Thank you,” finally Seed said kindly to Sussi through their mental connection.

The ball had noticed that when he talked to Sussi in a kind manner, she liked that much. It wasn't difficult for Seed to mimic that manner of speech.

“Ah, I'm not worthy of your praise, father!” she stuttered.

I know.

Seed tore off spider's legs and offered them to the hamsters. They accepted them gladly.

If they starve, they will be bad hunters, Seed concluded and resumed eating.

Later he went to the lab and created many new embryos of hamsters. The project “mouchi race” was a complete success. Seed needed more servants.

Three months later. Seed stopped to create new embryos a long time ago, because the hamsters reproduced themselves with a terrified speed. Now there were over three hundred mouchi under Seed's control and their numbers continued to grow. Even regular losses of hunters and gatherers in the jungle couldn't change this tendency.

Gradually the mouchi had built their own settlement around the Seed's hill.

Soon a trail appeared through the jungle. It connected together two locations: the settlement and the river.

Some mouchi had built up a small wooden raft and began to fish on it. A river was a good source of food and fresh water, as well as a potential wealth.

Seed had found some gold pieces and diamonds in the river. They were yummy.

The ball guessed that this wealth had come from the mountain range that he could see afar. He planned to visit that place soon.

Currently the hamsters cut down a large portion of the jungle with the help of stone instruments. Seed ordered to clear that area for future fields. The mouchi ate a lot. Seed realized that soon hunting and fishing would not be able to sustain the hamsters.

That area is a good place for growing crops, Seed thought, observing their work from the top of the hill. The river is close. It would supply water to the fields.

Seed had already created a plan for his future city. Yes, here he was going to build the first city of his great empire. From here he was going to expand his territory as far as possible.

Seed looked at the river where he saw a group of hamsters that looked for gold pieces and diamonds.

One day this planet will be mine.
