《The Crawford's Multiverse of Madness》Chapter 392 - Failed Escape

There was a moment of stillness…

Everyone in the chamber froze because, for some reason, they sensed Zeel's words held a lot more meaning than a few words could possibly contain…

Zeel only asked 'What Benefits' but to Carlos's, Caroline's, and Bean's ears, it sound like a complex literature poem that held several undecipherable meanings…

Sometimes a river was just a river, but with Zeel, a river was a galactic storm in Ancient Solar Systems of Godless Ages…

That was why Caroline didn't answer immediately…. She remained silent and thought about the hidden implications of what Zeel was asking, but she could not see any tricks…

Zeel's smile faded as he repeated "What kind of benefits?"

He was not accustomed to repeating himself, but as weak as he was at this time, Zeel wasn't about to let pride blind him from benefits…

At least, not anymore…

Caroline paused, and instead of answering, she stuck her hands into her pants and fumbled about for a couple of seconds…

She groaned painfully, and some silent tears slid from the corner of her eyes, but she still tugged at something lodged inside her pants…

Zeel raised his brow, interested by the gutsy display...

Very carefully, and with an endless amount of pain, Caroline retrieved something she had hidden between her legs…

It was a very bloody armbrace…

Caroline extended her hand with the armbrace, handing it to Zeel "They wanted to take it away while you were unconscious, but I saw how tightly you clung to it… so, I decided to save it for you…"

Zeel took the armbrace and smiled semi-happily, examining the blood and secretions on the arm brace brought a nod of appreciation to escape his usually stoic features…

"You will probably suffer from vaginal cancer if you survive this place…" He mentioned nonchalantly as if Caroline hadn't just done him a favor "This arm brace is made from Quantum Qubits… it probably irradiated your vaginal walls…

"A risk I am willing to take…" Caroline replied, not missing a beat "These terrorists are planning something that can cripple my country… what's thousands of lives to a little vaginal cancer?"

"So… you believe a thousand lives is worth your own?" Zeel asked, genuinely curious and a bit upset…

"I am saying I can take the suffering in place of those who can't…" Caroline clarified…

Zeel shrugged, feeling a bit guilty in his heart "Well, you kind of suffered for nothing because I can't get us out of here…"

"I thought you had a plan…" Bean growled, the hope in his heart rapidly vanishing…

"I am a very long-lived person…" Zeel justified, a bit frustrated "My plan was to slumber until everyone died… I would recover from some injuries then… but now, I need to get you guys out…"

"He's a madman…" Carlos laughed hollowly, insanity about to take over "I thought he knew what he was doing but he is just a madman…"

"I have been trying to get myself out from the moment I woke up…" Zeel stated honestly, something that was not common for him "I can only teleport as far as I can see, feel, and calculate… but a lot of people died here, so in my eyes, everything here is somewhat cloudy…"

"And what does that mean?" Caroline asked, grunting with each subtle movement she made…

Her Vaginal Walls were bleeding profusely, but she withheld from showing any weakness…

"It means…" Zeel channeled more energy into his eyes, strengthening his Draconic Sights, once again confirming the cloudy wisps of death that blocked his vision "I can probably get us out of this chamber, but since I can't see or feel the surface from this deep underground… we would still be inside this underground structure…"

"A small chance is better than none…" Caroline smiled happily, but everyone could see it was forced…

She stood on her feet, and Bean moved to her side to catch her in case she fell, which she did…

As if answering Zeel's doubtful gaze, Caroline clarified "I can still escape!"

"What about me?" Flinch questioned, finally speaking up after withdrawing from the conversation since the beginning…

Zeel hopped to his feet and laid eyes on Flinch who, ironically, flinched under his gaze "Are you a good person?" Zeel inquired…

Flinch nodded slowly as if unsure about his own morality, but luckily, the nodding was good enough for Zeel…

Zeel placed a hand on Caroline's shoulder, and extended a hand towards Bean, Flinch, and Carlos…

One by one, with great hesitation, the men took his hand, holding as tight as they possibly could…

Slowly, calculations ran in Zeel's mind as he tried to narrow down the exit point as much as possible…

There was a very real chance he would teleport into a wall, but he could survive such an ordeal…

As for the others, he hoped they would be fine…

[Warp]

The air trembled, and the next moment, the holding chamber was empty…

------------------

BURIAL CHAMBER

Zeel was the first to exit the warp, and then he forcefully pulled everyone else from the void between spaces…

His [Warp] ability was a subset of his [Dimensional Shift] ability, so it was no surprise that transporting more than one person pushed Zeel to take a greater risk of losing control…

The moment everyone was safely through the warp, Zeel fell to the ground in a mix of exhaustion and disgust…

As soon as his mind was not preoccupied, he could hear a variety of whispers spilling into his mindspace, drowning him in a wide array of voices…

It was extraordinarily painful…

Zeel rolled down a mushy surface, only realizing it was a hill of corpses after he hit the ground…

An entire room filled with rotting corpses…

'What did I expect…' Zeel lamented internally, clutching his head in pain…

It should have been obvious that as a Pseudo-God of Death, he would be drawn to places filled with Death Energies…

"BLARGH!"

"BLARGH!"

"BLARGH!"

Caroline, Bean, Carlos, and Flinch spewed their guts out, rushing down the hill of bodies in a mix of terror and hysteria…

Flinch's voice echoed far and wide in the chamber as he screamed louder than any female Zeel had ever seen…

Then again, he usually spent time with Alice and Elizabeth, and they weren't so easy to spook…

Zeel shakily got on his feet, and rushed to Flinch's side, smacking the man's jaw out of place to cease the screaming…

On the side, Carlos slumped to the ground unconscious, the stench was too much for him to bear…

It took a couple of seconds but Zeel managed to calm down, and Caroline was not far behind…

As for Bean, he seemed to take the sights of so many bodies as a grain of salt…

When Zeel allowed his mind to listen to all the whisperings, everything became clear – it was instantly obvious the dead were whispering secrets into his ears…

This was a new ability – one he didn't previously possess and a clear indication his Death Divinity was slowly finding a place in his Divine Soul…

The ability to hear the secrets of the dead – [Death Whisperer] …

The moment Zeel understood the ability, his mind fell into a state of exhaustion and he collapsed on the ground…

He tried to crawl towards the door, but a Militant entered the chamber and instantly laid eyes on him…

Zeel could generate no resistance as the Militant slammed his firearm into Zeel's head twice, knocking the Homo-Superior unconscious…

Caroline and Bean were quickly rendered unconscious as well, with Carlos and Flinch already unconscious prior to the Militants' arrival…

-------------------------

SOME HOURS LATER

Zeel awakened strapped to a massive boulder – something he couldn't possibly warp away with…

Obviously, the Militants were more or less aware of his abilities, but they couldn't discern his actual capabilities…

Zeel found it a bit weird that the Militants hadn't tried to kill him as yet, but it was not completely unexpected since they probably found more value in keeping him alive…

'Why do people always keep a threat alive?'

Honestly, Zeel was reluctant to warp again…

There was no guarantee he wouldn't be drawn to the chamber filled with rotting corpses or maybe somewhere even thicker with Death Energy…

Such a place would scar his mind for life…

There was a sizzling sound that brought Zeel's attention to the front, and when he saw what was being cooked, a chill traveled down his spine…

'Shit just got so much fucking weirder…' He internally lamented, witnessing Carlos being cooked on a heated slab of mental…

Zeel thought he was alive for his monetary or combat value, but now, he was painfully aware of the reason he was still alive – he was a luxury fucking desert!
