《The Crawford's Multiverse of Madness》Chapter 391 - The Crawford Family Smile

The next couple of hours was a blur to Zeel's mind…

There was swaying and tossing, and what felt distinctly like the up and down motion of a carriage…

The ground was rocky, and that told Zeel they were taking him away from the desert…

Also, the concentration of Death Energy in the air thickened, but he was not able to absorb the energy due to the balance with his Speed Divinity…

Zeel had tried to move several times, but he couldn't…

His injuries were extensive enough to force his body into a hibernating state, providing as little resources to the brain as possible…

And what was a Homo-Superior when his brain was not functioning beyond 500%?

Still, Zeel remained silent and unmoving, gathering energy to jolt his brain to full status for a couple of seconds…

That was all he required – a couple of seconds to kill everyone nearby, and possibly, even warp away…

Sadly, every time Zeel was about to stir awake, several bludgeoning impacts to the head would render him into a deeper state of unconsciousness…

Obviously, the Militants wanted him alive, but they were not going to take any chances considering the abilities he had demonstrated so far…

To say Zeel made them terrified would be an understatement…

What was most terrifying about Zeel was the fact that most of the carnage he did without any Divine Energy…

Meaning, it was his natural, flawless skill that killed over a dozen of Militants…

And honestly, Zeel liked every second of it…

-------------

Several hours later, Zeel awakened in a gloomy room that smelled of mole, urine, and decomposing bodies…

His hands were bound to the walls by carbon steel shackles, and even with his abnormal strength, there was no way to overpower his shackles…

The back of Zeel's hand brushed against the walls, and a host of information filled his mind…

The atmosphere was too cool – almost cold…

And judging by the time that had passed, Zeel knew there was no way the sun had set as yet…

After thinking for a couple of seconds, eliminating possibilities one by one, there was only one logical conclusion remaining…

"I am Underground?" Zeel mumbled, frowning at the realization but also finding a bit of relief in such a fact…

This was neither good nor bad for him…

It was all about perspective because from his perspective, he was not trapped underground with the Militants – the Militants were trapped underground with him…

One of the main challenges with killing an organization was having to worry if you got them all, but with all the Militants in this underground structure, Zeel was sure he would kill them all…

Well, that was as soon as he figured out a way to escape…

The area was filled with so much Death Energy that Zeel wasn't sure how it would affect his abilities…

'Good thing there is fodder…' Zeel mused, taking note of the five others in the chamber alongside him…

The Researcher was a blonde-haired, brown-eyed coward of a man who had already cried to the point he was partially blind…

The Black-Haired Agent was relatively composed, but Zeel could tell this was her first time facing the prospect of possible torture…

Then, there was a short, toned man with a beard as long as his toenails shivering against the wall…

Obviously, he had been here the longest, and was subjected to all forms of torture – his eyelids were cut in several places, his arms and legs were slightly bent from lack of proper healing…

Almost all his teeth were missing, and to top it all off, he had both eyes but Zeel could tell only one of them was working…

Zeel directed his attention at the last man – mid-twenties, very charming, and had probably been here a couple of weeks at most…

Still, this man only had a few missing toes and fingers, and with his full mouth of teeth, Zeel could guess that he was using his mouth to please the guards so they went light on his torturing.

With his arms bound to the wall, Zeel found a comfortable position within the limited space he had "So… who are you guys?" he questioned, genuinely interested…

Or, at least, pretending to be…

It was best to show your Cannon Fodder some interest lest they refuse to commit suicide when it was time…

"Carlos…" The Researcher muttered, eyes still red from all the sobbing "I do Research in Epidemiology…"

Zeel frowned "Ah… I get it now… they were trying to kill you…"

"Excuse me?" Carlos questioned, shrinking back some more "What do you mean?"

"I glanced at your Research on the Quantum Computer…" Zeel explained, "You were beginning to scratch the surface of a theorem that could predict when major pandemics would appear in the population of Humans…"

"What are you talking about?" The Black-Haired Agent interrupted, and the silent men also began to stir…

Zeel quirked his brow and asked "Name?"

"CIA"

"I am pretty sure that is the name of an Organization…"

"Pretty sure?"

"I am usually in a world of my own…" Zeel smirked, observing his fellow captives with careful considerations…

The Black-Haired Agent shrugged "Caroline…"

"Well… Caroline…" Zeel nodded, and gestured to another one of the men…

"That would mean-" Caroline tried to question Zeel further, but a sharp glare from him quieted her down…

"And your name?" Zeel turned to the man who had been tortured the most…

"Bean…" The Man replied, his voice murky from the lack of teeth to aid in the pronunciation…

"And you…" Zeel questioned, gesturing to the freshest face with all his teeth intact "I know your story, but I would still like a name to pin to the face…"

"Flinch…" The Man replied, cautious but also curious…

Zeel nodded and turned back to Bean "What can you tell me about the place? How deep Underground? What is the soul composition? How long have you been here? How many guards do you see? What are their inclinations, culture, and weaponry? Are there children and women in this underground structure?"

"I am not sure…" Bean whimpered, unable to think about anything but survival over the past year…

"What are you? Special Forces… Elites of some kind?" Zeel further questioned…

Bean paused and thought deeply before replying "I'm just a normal guy…"

"Okay…" Zeel nodded in understanding, knowing Bean was telling the truth "So, they need you for something, but judging by the scarring on your body… it isn't anything outside the country…"

"Organs…" Caroline mentioned, "These people deal in organs…"

"How deep?" Zeel asked Caroline…

"About thirty minutes…"

"So… about three miles give or take…"

"Weaponry and number of personnel?"

"Hundreds in different chambers throughout the underground…" Flinch interrupted, surprising Zeel a bit "I tried to escape once and it didn't work out… I learned my lesson but you sound like you know what you're doing…"

"And the torture methods?"

"Physical… never psychological but they can be pretty brutal…" Bean replied, though judging from his face, the physical torture had become a psychological burden…

There were many more questions Zeel asked, but when he finished, he got an idea of the overall workings of the Underground Structure and the Organization that ran it…

Caroline turned to Zeel "Can you get us out?"

"If I could get out, do you think I would have bothered to ask your guys any questions?"

"But… don't you have Jumper abilities?"

Zeel frowned "I am a bit different from regular Jumpers… if I could get out, I wouldn't be here…"

"They are planning to attack the US…" Caroline justified strongly "We need to serve our country and allied nations…"

Zeel giggled slightly, his smile dazzling everyone in the chamber "What gives you the impression that I am American?"

"Weren't you the Jumper assigned to us?" Caroline questioned, her heart beating a mile a minute since the Jumper assigned to her unit was their escape plan after capture…

Of course, not everything went as planned since almost all of her Unit was now dead, aside from the useless Researcher…

Zeel paused for a while to think about his answers, but since he didn't want to risk any headaches at the moment, he decided to tell the truth "I killed that guy…" he admitted…

"What?"

"I killed the Jumper assigned to your unit in the desert…" Zeel clarified, searching his body for the Quantum Armband he programmed before passing out, but there was nothing…

Caroline mused for a couple of seconds before replying "Good… I never liked that guy anyway… he was a bit pervy…"

Zeel laughed "That's a good answer… if you showed hostility for a split second, I would have had to kill you as well…"

"How can you do anything with your hands shackled to the wall?" Carlos teased, trying to forget about the terror gripping his heart…

"What shackles?" Zeel snorted, removing his hands from the shackles on the walls…

There was nothing a little concentrated [Black Lightning] couldn't do… the heat generated by the lightning from the tips of his fingers directly seared through the shackles…

"Now… if you would excuse me…" Zeel stood up, closing his eyes to concentrate on the walls, trying to establish the proper dimensions for a warp into a nearby corridor…

"I can promise benefits if you get us out!" Caroline yelled, knowing if she didn't offer some benefits, Zeel definitely wouldn't bring them along for his escape attempt…

Zeel paused, his interest in Caroline going from one percent to a thousand percent in an instant "What kind of benefits?" he asked with a wide Crawford-Family smile…

The same smile his Ancestors wore when they were prepared to harvest an entire planet's resources…
