《The Crawford's Multiverse of Madness》Chapter 29 - Run If Anything Goes 'BOOM'!

The convoy traveled throughout the day and night time to make it to Las Vegas as quickly as possible.
Zeel and Alice could feel the satellite tracking their location, but kept their cool regardless.
Zeel had warned the convoy of the potential dangers so the group had everyone armed and ready for a fight at any given moment.
After a couple more hours of traveling time, Claire yelled "Spread them out!"
They arrived in front of a gas depot, possibly the only gas depot that remained in the entire Los Angelis.
While everyone else was worried about filling up the gas tanks and leaving, Zeel and Alice scanned their surroundings carefully.
Alice and Zeel's ears perked as they pushed their senses to the max, attempting to spot any ambush.
Zeel had taught Alice how to stack their surveillance capabilities. This allowed the capabilities of the nanites to be temporarily enhanced.
They would use this ability only when unseen danger was close, something easily identifiable by their keen intuition.
Over the years, to combat threats that did not include technology, Alice had learned to send out something akin to echolocation but its effectiveness was less than what they both would like.
So, over time, Alice and Zeel developed a more suitable method of detecting enemies. Alice would act as the emitter, sending out pulses with the aid of her nanites.
Zeel, as the owner of the main nanites, would act as a receiver to interpret what the signals would be bounced back from.
Zeel discovered this method after hijacking an Umbrella Corporation satellite temporarily, he realized that the Earth had become filled with Alpha and Beta particles.
Anything in large enough quantities could kill a civilization, and these particles were emitted by almost everything infected with the T-virus.
Alice sent out the pulse as Zeel analyzed the received signal.

When the pulse came in contact with zombies, the signal received would be all jumbled.
Human contact would be less jumbled, technology would be fine and easy to understand, any other form of metal would absorb or reflect the signal.
It was a bit rudimentary for detection capabilities but it was the best they could do at the moment.
Pulling up to the gas station, the group noticed a trailer blocking the access to the gas station.
Everyone could tell it was a bit too convenient to be safe, but during these apocalyptic times, you take what you get at face value and then prepare bombs in case everything goes to shit.
At least, this was the method used by Alice and Zeel since the main thing they had in common was the ability to blow shit up with whatever they were given.
"We're gonna have to move it," Claire said as she gripped her gun tightly to her waist "All right, Chase, I need a lookout!"
After looking around, Claire points to the tower and said "Up there,"
Chase was pointing at one of Las Vegas' prime attractions during the time when civilization thrived.
"Great. Climb the Eiffel Tower with a high-powered rifle. A few years ago, that would've caused a stir. Well, let the good times roll," Chase said as he began climbing the Eiffel tower like a monkey would trees.
After reaching a high enough position, Zeel unwrapped the sniper rifle on his back and aimed at nothing in particular.
"Let's get this done," Carlos said as he patrolled along the borders established by the encampment, his finger constantly rubbing the trigger of his gun.
Zeel didn't particularly like Carlos, but Zeel admired that Carlos was someone who got things done.
"Mikey, get the winch," LJ shouted as he remained on the bus, everyone didn't mind since they all knew he was a coward through and through.

Still, everyone kept LJ around because he had the uncanny ability to survive no matter what.
The group was just about to start their pillaging when Alice yelled "Wait!"
Alice walked to the container that blocked the gas depot.
Zeel walked up next to her and put his ear on the container, he was genuinely appalled he didn't notice this sooner.
Both he and Alice had been focusing their senses so far outwards that they forgot to scan their immediate surroundings.
"Get back!" Zeel yelled, pulling Alice back as they leaped two meters in the air.
Not giving anyone time to listen to his order, the container completely opened up, releasing at least a hundred unique zombies into the temporary encampment.
Everyone was too terrified to even raise their guns. It took a minor telekinetic push from Alice to snap them out of their daze.
Clair, seeing the situation go from bad to worse, yelled at Carlos.
"Carlos, cover me!" She said and darted to the children's bus.
"Go!"
"Move!" Carlos yelled.
"Alice, deal with them. I'll go and look around for those pulling the strings behind the scenes. We'll do the usual plan okay?" Zeel said.
"Got it, go! Remember to hesitate when you feel the nanites getting agitated, you have to pretend to freeze up. We need them to stay as long as possible," Zeel reminded since she could somewhat resist the satellite's brain-hacking.
Still, the satellite would make her actions sluggish, and moving one second slower in the Apocalypse was equal to death.
Zeel ran towards the horde and encountered four zombies.
*Whoom*
All of a sudden, the world in Zeel's eyes slowed down marginally, one second became five seconds.
Instead of pushing forward, Zeel spread his legs wide and took on a combat stance.
He then brought his left leg to the front dragging it on the ground. This was a technique he made himself since kicking the ground to go forward could lead to him overextending himself.
Using the drag of the ground to limit his speed had become a good practice when fighting slow opponents.
While Alice had developed Telekinesis, Zeel had developed a sort of speed increasing ability.
After his left leg was in front, Zeel did a spin and sent his right leg to the head of the first zombie, kicking it off cleanly.
Time resumed for a while then three more leg whips happened in succession after.
*Pop*
*Pop*
*Pop*
With his attack, the heads of the nearby zombies popped like balloons.
Apart from Alice, who was admiring in the distance, nobody noticed Zeel's blur of movements.
Detecting interference from a nearby rooftop, Zeel doubled back around before running towards the opposite building and jumping to the second floor.
Jumping about 20ft was Zeel's maximum at the current moment.
After landing, Zeel made his way to the third floor and then leaped over to the Building of the interference. It was easy to find since his nanites could detect any tech within a hundred-mile radius.
Reaching the top of the building, Zeel was met with the sight of a tent surrounded by guards and a helicopter in the background.
Zeel did not know if the Umbrella Corporation was just arrogant or they didn't expect smart people to survive the apocalypse, but everything here was like a gift from God.
Zeel's planned to Disguise, infiltrate, hack, eliminate, and run if anything looks like it was going to go 'BOOM'.
That was his and Alice's plan that ensured their survival all the time.

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Dazai x reader - sleeping beauty
So I've got a lot to say: This is a slowly progressing romance, Dazai x reader of course! Oops spoiler (๑>◡Also, I'm focusing more on the plot/ character development for the time being, so don't expect too much mushy stuff. (I don't paragraph space between quotes in fan fictions or else it would be waaaay too long because I tend to write a lot... so all you grammar nazis, just know I did this intentionally)I had a lot of fun writing it, so I hope you like it!
