On the top of a snowy mountain, sitting on one of the two chairs placed on two sides of a foldable table, sat a lonely figure with white hair and fitting white attire.

A strange tiara was on her head, rather than sitting on top of it, it floated above it like a twisted halo, with multiple spikes protruding from its surface. But unlike what her appearance implied, she was no angel.

The attire she wore was a simple white dress with ornamental patterns; the attire clearly emphasized her bosom area.

She wore a golden necklace on her neck, which contrasted well with her slitted purple eyes. Four white wings extended from her back.

Currently, she was waiting for a report from one of the top enforcers among the dragons.

Suddenly, a figure as black as night, a winged beast with a wing span of at least a thirty meters, flew down to her location, before its form morphed into that of a tall, black haired man.

His face was extremely serious and had a matter of factly attitude to it. His eyes were of crimson hue.

“I assume it is done?” the woman in white asked.

The dark haired man got on one knee and bowed before her.

“White Dragon Lord, Maira, is dead”

“Well done, Black Dragon Lord. Take a seat” the woman in white beckoned him to sit next to her.

“Is that truly all right?” he asked.

“I am one of the five Dragon Kings, Black Dragon Lord, Crushius. If I say it is fine, it is fine”

The lady in question was none other than the Light Dragon King, one of the five Dragon Kings who served the Dragon Emperor, who was known better by his subjects as the Dragon God.

Following her orders, Black Dragon Lord proceeded to sit on the empty chair.

“Darkness Dragon King truly has a very capable enforcer. I cannot say the same for my own” Light Dragon King, Meruela said with a clenched fist.

Five Dragon Kings were the Dragon King of Light, Dragon King of Darkness, Dragon King of Flame, Dragon King of Water, and the Dragon King of Sky.

Each Dragon King had Dragon Lords serving underneath him, ranked starting from 1, based on their strength.

Generally, the first ranked Dragon Lord is the one who is the strongest and is the one the Dragon King would send when something needed to be done just right.

But in Meruela’s case, it was her former subordinate, the White Dragon Lord, who had betrayed them.

That is why; she had to resort to asking the enforcer of another Dragon King to get the job done.

“I will apologize to Darkness Dragon King the next time I see him”

“No need to, Lady Meruela. I have already informed him of your order and he approved.”

“Really now? In that case, all is well”

“But what of her daughter? Does she know?”

“No. And I do intend to keep it that way. As far as she or anyone else will know, her mother, the White Dragon Lord perished at the hands of humans. She can never know that her mother had betrayed us and planned to help the humans”

“What do you plan on doing with her?”

“She is strong and capable. With her mother’s death, there is an empty seat among my Dragon Lords, she can fill in that position, and eventually, she will take her mother’s former place”

“I see” Black Dragon Lord nodded.

Now, none would stand in their way of destroying the accursed Holy Kingdom.

“But we must tread cautiously, or a tragedy of twenty years ago might repeat”

Twenty years ago, a black winged angel appeared within their land. He single-handedly massacred nearly the entire royal family. The former Dragon Emperor, Shade and most of his relatives had fallen victim to that angel, who proceeded to take their corpses with him.

Only three members of the royal family were left alive, the emperor’s aunt, son, and daughter.

The Dragon Emperor’s daughter, Ling-Long, used an ancient spell to travel to another world in order to find and kill that angel. The spell she used could not be tracked down; she took the name of the world and the spell she used with her. The princess was now no longer in their world.

The Dragon Emperor’s aunt and son disappeared shortly after, never to be seen again. Most likely case is that the angel returned and took them.

With the entire royal family gone, the closest relative of the emperor by blood, the former Darkness Dragon King, ascended the throne as the new Dragon Emperor. He proclaimed.

“The Holy Kingdom summoned the angel that caused this tragedy. We cannot sit idly by. For the sake of the survival of our race, the Holy Kingdom and any other kingdoms must be destroyed!”

Under the previous Dragon Emperors, dragons and this world were in a state of conflict, but under Dragon Emperor Shade, the conflicts had decreased. He had wanted the dragons to coexist with this world. But with the murder of the Dragon Emperor, the conflicts resumed and a war was essentially declared against all the other kingdoms.

As such, the raids upon the human kingdoms commenced, and after twenty years, Holy Kingdom was one of the few left intact

The reason for that is because of the legacy left behind by the five angels that established the Holy Kingdom: Arariel, Sariel, Mural, Nightous, and Lucifer.

Since the attack by that black winged angel happened to suddenly, they could not confirm it, but they suspected it was none other than Lucifer, summoned by the Holy Kingdom.

“I understand” Black Dragon Lord muttered.

“Yes, his majesty must be protected at all cost. He is the last living member with the blood of Dragon God in his veins. And his orders are absolute.”

She offered him a cup of tea, which he politely declined. After a moment of silence, Black Dragon Lord said.

“With your permission, Light Dragon King, I shall take my leave”

“Permission granted”

Sprouting wings on his back, the Black Dragon Lord flew away.

Holding a tea cup in her hand, Meruela’s mighty grip ended up shattering it.

“Maira….How could you betray me? Me? And I even thought of you as a my successor…”
