Birds chirped as the wind blew a soft gentle breeze. "Guys I have a plan," Sato remarked as he stepped into the town. 'Every time we catch up with Niji, he always gets away. We need to stop looking for Niji and start looking for his house. I think he's probably been hiding the Heiwa no Jigen in there."
Arashi nodded, "I agree with Sato."
"Okay," Sakura started. "But where do you suppose we look?"
"I don't know." Sato tapped his head, "Maybe we could ask around town?"
"Hey!" A voice whispered. "Over here." A Dog-like man with rat teeth motioned for them to come into the alleyway.
"What is it?" Sato asked.
The Dog Bakemono responded, "You wanna know where Niji's house is right?"
Sato nodded his head. "Yeah. Can you tell us?"
The Dog Bakemono pointed to the back of the alley. "He lives back there. Although, I don't think he's home right now."
"That's even better." Sato responded "Thanks for your help. Guys, let's go!" Sato ran towards the back of the alleyway with his friends following closely behind.
"Well, here it is," Sakura said as she stopped in front of the door. "You guys ready?"
Sato nodded, "Now how do we get in?"
"Stand back," Arashi warned as orange flames surrounded his claws. He swung at the door with his flaming claws repeatedly. "There, that should do it." Arashi kicked the door in hopes it would fall down but to no avail. "Damn. It should've busted open."
"Arashi." Sato started. "I think I know where you're going with this. But for it to work. We need someone with pure strength. Sakura, that's your cue."
Sakura nodded, "Got it!" The Strength Bakemono punched straight through the door causing it to crack and fall over.
"Yay!" We're in!" Ai cheered.
"Arashi that was a pretty cool idea you had there." Sato praised him. "How'd you come up with it?"
Arashi grinned, "From you. You're a lot better than I ever gave you credit for, Sato."
Sato smiled back, "Yeah. Same goes for you, Arashi."
Sakura chuckled, "Now you two get along, huh? It's too bad; our time together is almost over."

After a brief moment of silence, Ai spoke, "So then. We should enjoy this and not be all sad, right?"
Sato nodded, "You're right, kiddo. Let's go inside."
As soon as they get inside a laser security system activates blocking them off. "I got it." Arashi flew to the ceiling swiftly dodging the laser until he made it to the other side of the room. He turned off the switch. "It's all good now."
Everyone else crossed to the other side of the room and hurried up the stairs to the next floor. A giant boulder came rolling down at them. "My turn." Sakura ran for the boulder head-on, she grasped it with both hands. Sakura lifted it off the ground the veins from her arms becoming visible as she held it high above her head. She threw the boulder in the other direction smashing it into a million pieces. "Come on! Let's get to the next floor."
They all headed up the stairs. When they reached the third floor. The walls emit spikes and began to squeeze in on them. "I'll save us!" Ai put out her hands as she began radiating magical energy, her hair flew up revealing her elf-like ears and huge fluffy angel wings. A pure white shield formed around the group. The walls closed in on the shield and retreated. "Yay! I did it."
They all headed up to the fourth floor where a giant snail Bakemono with a mechanical shell was waiting for them.
"Damn it," Sato grunted. "How much security does this guy need?" He extended out his arm visualizing the structure and color of his sword. "Illustrate!" He shouted the sword materializing in his hand. "Guys, let's do this!" Sato rushed across the floor swinging his sword at the Snail Bakemono.
"How's this!" Sakura punched the Snail knocking it back into a wall.
"You're going down!" Arashi flew up onto the Snail's shell surrounding himself in blue flames. He continuously kicked its shell denting it.
The Snail Bakemono shot out a blast of energy at Sato. A white shield formed around Sato protecting him from the attack. He turned to Ai. The white-haired Magic Bakemono gave him a thumbs up, "I got your back, big brother!"

Sato smiled as he over to the Snail. He jumped into the air stabbing both of its eyes "Sakura, Arashi NOW!"
"Right!" Sakura and Arashi both kicked the Snail's shell splitting it in two.
Sato swung his blade down slicing the Snail Bakemono. It's gooey guts splattered all over the room. Sato laughed, "Hey guys. This is just like that one time. When Arashi got Demon Bakemono guts all over us. Remember?"
Everyone else laughed as well. "Yeah, that was really gross." Sakura laughed again.
Arashi smiled as he wiped a tear from his eye. "I'm really gonna miss you guys."
Sakura smiled back. "Me too."
Ai nodded, "So am I."
Sato gave a warm smile as he looked at all of his friends, "I'll miss you guys too." He turned his head to the stairs leading to the fifth and final door. "Let's go."
They all head ed up the stairs where the Heiwa no Jigen was set up in the middle of the room. Sato immediately ran for it.
After all this time. He thought to himself.
After all this craziness, I can finally go home. Go back to my normal life.
Before he grabbed the sword he looked back over at his friends who were trying their best to smile.
Sato lowered his eyes and frowned, "Sakura. Ai. Arashi. If it weren't for you three. I never would've gotten this far. I've changed my mind. I wanna free all of the Bakemono trapped in the Forbidden Book!
Sakura gasped, "But Sato…you can't. The Heiwa no Jigen can only take one person with it."
"Maybe…or maybe not. I have a plan." Sato informed his friends.
"What is it, big brother?" Ai wondered.
"You'll see. But I'm gonna need all of your help again." Sato notified. "Sakura! I need you to stab the Heiwa no Jigen hard into the ground. Really stick it in there."
'Got it." Sakura took the blade from Sato and stabbed it into the floor.
"Good," Sato commented. "Now Arashi. Heat it up with your blue fire."
"Okay." Arashi wrapped his blue flaring claws around the sword. It began to absorb the heat.
"Nicely done." Sato turned to Ai. "Okay Ai. I need you to use as much of your Magic energy as you can and try to surround this whole word in a shield. Hold onto the Heiwa no Jigen if you need more energy."
Ai saluted Sato look, "Okey dokey, big brother!" She grabbed onto the sword. Her Magic energy began to radiate and a green shield surrounded the whole world. All the way out to the edges of the book.
Sato gasped, "A green shield. "I've seen you use a green one before Ai."
Ai struggled to keep the shield up. "Neither have I. Only my dad and cousin Hibiki could do it. Now please hurry up! It's getting hard to keep it up."
Sato nodded, "Ai, good job. Now everyone grab onto the sword!" Everyone holds onto the weapon. "Sato inhaled before speaking, "Heiwa no Jigen, free everyone from the Forbidden Book."
Arashi protested, "Sato! No, wait!
"Unseal!" Sato shouted ignoring Arashi.
A huge light blue circular portal sucked in the whole shield and everyone in it. The portal ejected everyone out of the Forbidden Book and into Sato's school library.
"What the hell?!" The Librarian panicked. "Oh no. B-B-Bakemono! I'm calling the cops!"
A bunch of the Bakemono ran out of the library leaving only Sato, Sakura, Ai and Arashi. Arashi tackled the librarian. "Call the cops, and you're dead, human. Sato! Do you realize what you've done?! What were you thinking?!"
"Oh gee, I don't know. Maybe I was thinking I'd help my friends and all of the other Bakemono escape from the creepy book they were sealed in thirteen years ago."
Arashi sighed, "And do you know who one of the other Bakemono you helped escape is. Think about it you set everyone free, including Niji. The one who declared war between humans and Bakemono and got us all sealed in the first place. He'll kill all of the humans here."
Sato facepalmed, "So then, I guess we don't have a choice anymore. We're going to have to fight Niji after all."

8 221Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
