Kuro and Shiro persevered through the harsh desert, they were heading to Nimbasa City but were unclear of where the route to Nimbasa was...so they found themselves lost in a detour in Route 4. Their wandering would lead them to something...odd. As they wandered and wandered, Kuro would stop at the sight of a stairway going into the ground. Surrounding that stairway were five statues, which appeared to be Darmanitan in an odd stance, and were a pale blue color. Shiro was amazed at the statues, pulling out her Pokédex. Pokédex: Darmanitan — The Blazing Pokémon. Its internal fire burns at 2,500° F, making enough power that it can destroy a dump truck with one punch. When weakened in battle, it transforms into a stone statue. Then it sharpens its mind and fights on mentally. Shiro: Oh, interesting! Do you think these statues are actually Darmanitan? Kuro looked at the Darmanitan, then at Shiro...and back at the Darmanitan — he pondered her question in his mind for a moment and came up with his answer that he dug deep in his mind to find. An answer that God’s had given him omniscience just to answer... Kuro: Nah. It looks more like a statue than a Pokémon. Shiro: ...But the Pokédex said it turns into a- Kuro: What do you think this staircase is? Shiro: I don’t know...It doesn’t look good though. Kuro: Don't be too suspicious! It looks ancient, maybe we can find some forbidden treasure in here! Kuro said as he walked towards the stairs — the moment he stepped down the third stair, the ground trembled and Kuro would lose his balance off the stairs! As he fell, the surrounding area would become devoured by sand, as Kuro and Shiro were caved in as the land above sunk. The stairway was damaged, the five statues remained unharmed and still, as they surrounded Kuro and Shiro. In front of them (Besides two Darmanitans) was a gigantic set of doors...where Kuro and Shiro found themselves at seemed to be a castle..the interior design and setup of the rooms just screamed ancient royalty. Shiro gasped, standing to her feet as she looked around. Shiro: Wooah, where are we? The room had slight reverb, as her voice echoed throughout the chamber they found themselves in. Shiro would approach the gigantic door, but Kuro stopped her and suggested they go through one of the side rooms. She agreed and the two walked into the hall down the left. As they walked, they saw an abundance of artworks engraved in the walls. One of them depicted men and women kneeling before this large moth-like Pokémon with small four feet. Surrounding this strange-looking Pokémon was a massive ring of fire that scorched some of the people in front of it. On another side, people were depicted in front of their homes, with a spherical Pokémon, possessing two cyan eyes with a third on a black appendage on top of its head. And above them was this large depiction of a Golem like Pokémon holding its hands out to these seals that imprisoned these coffins behind it. Darkness stares them down from this room in front of them, the painting had words on top but the words were from a language that the two could not decipher. In this darkened room, they could hear movement and laughter coming from out of it...these strange noises sent a chill down Shiro's spine. Shiro: D-Do you hear that?? Kuro nodded his head. After Shiro spoke, the noise would go dead silent. The two slowly backed up, as a strange dressed man, who dawned this “inhuman aura”, he grinned underneath his ninja mask. ???: Oh? I’ve heard about you — Kuro, and Shiro correct? Kuro: H-How do you know about us? ???: Got word about you from Ghetsis, he said you and that other one are troublesome, but not an obstacle. Shiro: What are you doing in that coffin room? ???: Grave robbing. We’re taking every damned soul from these relic castle ruins. Shiro: Why!? ???: Don’t worry about it..but if you insist on trying to stop us, I’ll handle you myself. Bisharp, come! Out from the dark depths of the “coffin room”, Bisharp came charging at Kuro and nearly stabbing him! He fell to the ground with a cut on his shoulder, he backed up and stood back on his feet as he sent out Growlithe — while Shiro sent out her Servine. Dewott came behind Kuro, ready to defend. Kuro: Dewott, Growlithe, Attack! Shiro: Servine, Vine whip! Servine would unleash its vines in Bisharp’s direction, aiming to attack it — but Bisharp grabbed onto the vines and forcefully pulling Servine in its direction as it slashed Servine in the ground, Dewott came behind Bisharp and Growlithe unleashed a burst of fire right in front of Bisharp’s face but Bisharp ducked, making the flames hit Dewott as Bisharp tossed the Servine to Dewott, and grabbed Growlithe and slammed it to the ground. Growlithe fainted, and Dewott and Servine stood back to their feet ready to attack. ???: Bisharp, Sucker punch. Before Dewott and Servine could deliver an attack, they were smacked back down in one quick punch. Dewott stood back on his feet, removing the scalchops from his body as he surrounding himself with water and went rocketing right at Bisharp. Bisharp moved out of the way but Dewott pulled off a sharp turn and hit Bisharp down! Kuro: Good job, Dewott! ???: Alright then... Kuro: Dewott, Water Gun! Dewott pointed its scalchops at the Bisharp, as two beams of water went bursting at the foe's Pokémon. Bisharp took the attack, falling on one knee before crossing its arms in an "X" formation. ???: Furry Cutter! Bisharp would bolt towards Dewott and start slashing, Dewott avoided one but was caught in the fury of the second, then the third, fourth, fifth, and then Dewott was smacked down, rolling back over to Kuro's side of the room. ???(2): Hey, what's the hold up!? Another man wearing the same clothing said, coming out of the darkness facing his attention to his comrade, not even noticing Kuro and Shiro. ???: I was trying to stop these kids from stopping us...didn't think it would take this long, I underestimated their strength...specifically the boy. ???(2): Well...our mission is complete! Listen for this... As the man said that, muffled screams and moans came from the coffin room. Small black hands reached out from the room reaching out to the two strange men but never reaching them, as one grinned and the other laughed. Kuro and Shiro watched in disgust, the noises, the hands, their laugh...everything made this place very unsettling. Kuro: W-what the hell is this...? The men laughed unaware of what’s behind him, as a huge coffin with four arms and an angry face wrapped around them, as they screamed as they were pulled into the darkness — their laughter echoed through the coffin room. ???: Mission complete! Let’s get out of here before the guardian shows up! As he said that, the very room shook and rumbled, Kuro and Shiro ran inside the coffin room only to find that there was nobody in there...and no coffins were inside! The sand from above began to crack open into the relic room, and stomping could be heard from behind the Coffin Room's walls...a gigantic stone automaton-like Pokémon with a bandage on its chest with this massive slash came through. ???: Go...!! Kuro: Its the thing from the paintings...C'mon Shiro, we gotta get out of here! Shiro: B-But...how!? All the shadows in the room formed into one ball, as the ball went blasting at the two, but they got up and ran to other sides of the room to avoid the attack, as the Pokémon kept yelling, and yelling. Kuro: I have an idea, run behind the Pokémon!! Shiro would nod, putting her absolute faith in Kuro as she ran behind the Pokémon, the gigantic Pokémon turned to face her as Kuro's Dewott came flying in, smacking the Pokémon's head hard with a razor shell and jumping in front of Shiro, as Kuro came swiftly behind him. They all placed their attention to the crack the wall the Pokémon came from gave to the ceiling above, as Dewott stabbed its scalchops in the ground and two big beams of water blasted upwards -- sending both Kuro and Shiro way into the sky as they landed above ground! Once they landed, the two would hurriedly sprint from the sinking sand and when they ran far enough, they were safe, Dewott would spring out from the ground as his body was covered in a force field of water, and he landed right next to Kuro. Shiro: Smart thinking....Kuro....we almost died! Kuro: I know...and what's worst...we couldn't even stop those guys...

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)
