Kuro: Woah...why is it so dark in here?
Kuro said to himself as he finally made it within the Castelila City Gym...but he can't see anything. A small flame would light in front of his face, as he yelled and jumped back -- only to run into nothing and fall on the floor. He heard someone laughing. Claude: Haha...didn't mean to startle ya' man. Welcome to the Castelila City Gym. I'm your host -- Claude...You uh, you good man? Kuro: Yeah..I'm good, I just got scared a minute ago... Claude: Haha, fear won't get you very far. There's a Lil' something special about this gym I gotta let you know about. First of all, you'll need this. Claude said as he reached behind his back with his free handle, revealing to Kuro the second lit candle he had behind him. Kuro: H-How did you- Claude: Take this kid. Claude handed Kuro the candle, Kuro takes it. Claude: You'll need that if you wanna see. This Gym is sprawling with bug and grass type mons. And you gotta walk across these webs to get up and down and all around this gym...haha. This gym has several art pieces, big ones too. You use the candle to burn them down, and once you do...you either get attacked by some wild pokemon, or you find yourself in the chamber of creation...is what Burgh calls his little shed that he draws and fights in. This makin' sense to you? Kuro: Yeah, I understand. Claude: All right then Champ in the makin', go ahead..haha... Claude laughed..fading away into the darkness until he completely disappeared. Kuro gripped his fist....taking in a deep breath as he wandered throughout the gym. Spacious, yet empty it felt. His little light helped out but he was still extremely lost. He and his Oshawott kept walking and walking. Eventually, he stopped at the sight of something he hadn't seen before. He took a step back and held his candle in the air as his eyes could behold the enormous and breathtaking painting in front of him. He was in awe...did Burgh really make this himself!? He didn't even want to set it on fire! Kuro: Woah...This is amazing! I can't Burgh really made.....hey wait who's there?? He said as he felt something crawling on his back, he jumped to the side as he could STILL Feel something on him, he screamed as he ran around in a circle until whatever was on him went flying off into the darkness that surrounded him. He panted, grabbing his Oshawott as he was ready to take on whatever wanted to battle. The thing that crawled all over Kuro's back showed itself..it was a small Sweaddle with the most sinister grin on its face, as it chuckled. Kuro: Guess I'll have to take you on... Oshawott held its scalchop, and just as he held it in the air about to turn into into a blade-- it was gone from his hand! He looked all around to see a Spinarak holding a Scalchop in its mouth. Then the Pokemon jumped out at Kuro. Kuro fell over, as the candle fell and it set fire to the painting, and the Pokeball rolled towards the flame. Kuro screamed yet again. The painting set ablaze and from behind the painting sprawled a bunch of Spinaraks, Beedrills, and Venomoths came out and attacked him. Kuro: Oshawott, use water gun! Oshawott hopped up and he starting blasting the Spinaraks, and Beedrills. He fired one at the Spinaraks, which caused all six of them to jump into the air -- He fired another beam at the Beedrills, but both of them avoided. Then he hit all three Venomoths with its final beam! But As Oshawott finished firing its beams...he started to get the hiccups. Oshawott: O-Osh....O!..O... Kuro: Hey...are you alright?? Oshawott would be bombarded by Pin missles from the Beedrills, as when it was sent flying -- A stone would come flying out of his mouth! Oshawott would find itself landing in Kuro's arms. Kuro then ran away, as the Pokemon continued to follow him. He would find himself hiding behind this little cocoon. Kuro sighed, as he held Oshawott in his arms. Oshawott hopped on Kuro's head. Kuro would then walk around in the darkness, as he heard the sounds of swarming pokemon looking all over for him. Kuro heard more sounds too...sounds of what sounds like laughter. He followed this sound, walking as fast as he could until he reached this even bigger painting than before -- As the sounds of laughter he heard were as clear as day! On top of that laughter, he heard a muffled sound..like someone had a wrap-around their mouth. Kuro then took in a deep breath, busting through the huge painting as a bright burst of life hit him directly...like a vampire seeing the light of the sun. The entire new cavus he was in was multicolored...everything ranging from red, purple, blue, pink...etc. And the muffled sound he heard....it was no other than Shiro! Shiro was tied up and hanging down the ceiling wrapped up in this web-like material that looks to be of the makings of a Spinarak. In the center of all this madness was burgh, as he sat there gazing down at Kuro. Burgh: Excellent work back there Kuro, not only did you and your friend up there help clear Team Plasma out of the city..but you also stopped them somewhere else! You're a real hero kid. Shiro's eyes lit up as she saw Kuro. She tried swinging over to him but she didn't move at all, she was stuck. Kuro: Burgh....what did you do to Shiro? Burgh: That wasn't me...it was my Ariados. Kuro: Aria...dos? Burgh: Mhhmmm~. Your friend told me that you would be here soon, soo...the deal was that if she loses, she has to be wrapped up in the web until you beat me, and if she wins...she gets her badge. Simple as that. Kuro: Aww Shiro, why did you agree to that?? Burgh: Worry not young hero! If you beat me, you get to rescue her! Kuro: And if I lose...? Burgh paused after hearing the boy's question..laughing a little as he slowly rose to his feet...and the sound of crawling echoed throughout the entire chamber of creation -- this huge spider-like Pokemon (Known as Ariados), came slamming to the ground in front of Burgh. As it let out a cry and gave Kuro a chill. Burgh: Well, you'll end up like your friend over there...Do we have an agreement? Kuro: ...Yes, I accept!

Robert lived his life like many other people on Earth, he just had a specific fear instilled within him from his love of books. Like many others, it was hard to disregard the constant negative information being doled out in every form of media. This caused him to fear the loss of knowledge and books that had provided him solace in times of need in his life. He collected and stored thousands of books ranging from web novels to college textbooks on physics. This was an irrational fear of his until the world changed and that knowledge gave him a step above everyone else.
8 124Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
