《The Planetfall Generation》The Captain

'New monster application uploaded.' The notification rang.
'New map data sent. New Map data available' Fi downloaded all new data available and a planetary map appeared in her UI.
She chose the new option and zoomed out to see the map. The planets general details were available. All the four areas that the early scout teams had arrived at were the most accurate. Fi's group was the last to set up the beacon.
A fifth area on the map read transmitter location. It was at the farthest point from all five campsites. Somehow it felt like no-one wanted them to see what was there. The map data was obfuscated and blurry.
Fi and Sawyer silently checked up on all the new data. There was a lot to digest. One of the groups had lost half of their members to a sudden attack. A yet unknown monster was behind it. Only a short video feed of a humongous shadow crashing down existed.
'Incoming group call. The captain of Harmony 3 calling' A list of recipients followed. It was to the whole team.
Fi didn't answer the call and asked.
"What is the Harmony 3?" a stupefied look sat on her face. She had no idea what it was.
"It is the real name of our ship. Technically the whole ship is called Harmony." Sawyer said brushing his growing stubble.
"Harmony 3 would be a part of the ship which will probably land here," Sawyer continued and eyed Fi.
Fi nodded pursing her lip. She had heard the ship would be split in five. Four of them landing on the scouted places while the last one staying in orbit.
The one in orbit would serve as a trading hub and the command center of the new planet. You would take a shuttle there and be able to look at the best items people could gather. The greatest work by the makers. Items of untold value would be sold.
Broken out of her daydream, by Sawyers' hand on her shoulder, she smiled.
"Let's answer the call," Sawyer said with no smile on his lips. A radiant smile in his eyes offsetting the cold expression. A man in love with being alone spun around Fi's little finger.

Fi nodded and they answered the call.
"This is the captain of Harmony 3," a familiar voice said. It was raspy with a twinge of gentleness strewn in.
"I am Ramon. Chosen by the AI for prior merits. A background as a medical doctor." Ramon said over the comlink.
"How is the situation on the ground?"
"All of us are still alive," Sawyer said. A sigh of relief was heard from the Captain. Sawyer smiled hearing care from the captain. He had a good impression of the new Captain.
"We have cleared one of the menaces around. Application sent in with the name Cracklefluff."Sawyer said holding his tone steady throughout the name. Snickering could be heard in the background on the other side.
"We still have two major places to clear out before we are ready to welcome you. No major threats have been scouted as off now." Sawyer continued, used to reporting in.
"It is great that the Cracklefluff threat has been taken care of," Ramon said stifling his laughter. He took a deep breath, clearing out the mirth sneaking into his voice. Ramon had to try and be authoritative with his new role.
"We will be in touch. Staying alive is your greatest responsibility." Ramon said content with his tone.
"Acknowledged Captain Ramon. Staying alive priority number one," Sawyer said and saluted. His answer followed by silence on the other side. A light cough.
"I need you all to acknowledge your mission priorities." Captain Ramon said. He finally felt like a real captain. Finding his question if he was the right man for the job disappearing.
"Yes sir," four teammates said in unison. Fi was glad that a person she knew was captain. Ramon was a good man, a truly good one, Fi thought.
"Godspeed, Captain out," Ramon said cutting off the transmission. The whole crew behind Ramon with a newfound respect for the man. A captain who cared for his underlings was fantastic news.
Back on the planet Fi and Sawyer looked at each other. They nodded at each other and accepted an invite to chat group scout team three.

Robin had while carried set up a group for them to share information in.
'Cracklefluff?'The first message sent on the channel read. A crying laughter emoji followed.
Fi sent in an angry one in response. Then forgetting the issue when a new notification dinged.
'Please name the island' it read.
A group call was initiated by Blue. All joined in.
"What shall we name the island?" Blue asked with a pant. It was tiring walking the distance to the camp with an extra weight. The group pondered and threw in all manners of suggestions.
After a while of arguing on merits of different names, Fi spoke up.
"Can't we let the people on Harmony 3 decide?" Fi said and pulled at her ear. The group didn't disagree with the decision. It was the usual way.
They all agreed in the end. Robin did begrudgingly, he wanted to be the one to name the planet. He still had the chance to be doing something as he technically was also part of Harmony 3. Voting and suggesting names was possible, he wouldn't have as big of a voice there.
Robin realized he might actually have a bigger chance of influencing the vote with his star status. He smirked while walking.
Sawyer started handling the corpses of the Cracklefluffs. He took all the materials he thought were of use and discarded the rest. He left a small bit of the rabbit for Fi.
It was too long of a distance to bring them all to the recycling unit.
He used his powers of melting to help. Sawyer was still disgusted by the process. An ugly expression on his face he wished luck to Fi and left for the campsite.
Fi waved him off and sat leaning against a tree. She had to formulate a plan. The first step would be to make a fire for her food. There wasn't really a second step. Staying awake and guarding the beacon for the night wasn't a big deal in her opinion.
She decided to venture into the Dreams online mode. She entered the forums. Reading the rules quickly she entered Harmony 3's part.
She saw a few different parts of the forums. A few posts caught her eye. Specifically, the ones recruiting members for their alliances, groups, sects and guilds.
There were a few big ones, the same as before the reset.
Many of the members which had been part of the big guild made new ones and joined smaller ones. Hoping for a better position in the future.
Fi didn't have any interest in joining any group at this moment. What interested her was a singular post on the trading forums. Posted by a group who called themselves the Radish Maker Guild.
They were asking for a batch of materials to be sent back to the ship. Any materials would do and they would pay with everything they had.
No idea existed in her mind that she could trade before the Harmony arrived.
She looked into it and found that the scout ship came with automated pods for sending materials. Their normal capacity was enough for them to reach orbit. These on the scout ship modified to reach the colony ship.
This was a great opportunity for her. She could make friends with a maker's guild and get some much-needed money.
Fi sent a message answering the post. She stood up. She was to search for materials and creatures immediately.
Linking herself with the beacon, it would inform her of creatures entering within 150 meters.
She slapped her face. The glow in her eyes intensified.
"Octo, hold on tight. We are going hunting." Fi said. Octo raised one tentacle in a salute, mimicking Sawyer's prior action.
Fi laughed and launched into the forest.

Giantslayer
Synopsis: Alain is a fledgling Giantslayer, enhanced individuals capable of killing deadly giants. But these giants are not big, they are what ancient humans would refer to as mundane animals or beasts. 'The Final Curse' as many humans call it, was a curse that shrunk down the entire human population to the size of small rodents. When the curse first occurred, the majority of the human population was eaten by beasts who are now of towering heights and sizes. But their abandoned gargantuan structures were not built for naught, the remaining humans retreated back into their now giant buildings and rebuild societies and nations inside of them. Follow Alain in his quest to right the wrongs done to his past and hunt down the elusive and mythical Elder Giants, giants capable of intellects and speech. Are they real? Alain certainly insists so despite no one believing him. But perhaps it did not matter, they were real enough to him for what they did to his family. A/N: I'm pretty new to writing creatively so I hope to improve as we move along the story. The prose I use is still fairly simple and 'plain', but I am also new to literature in general so I am hoping to improve my vocabulary as well. It should also come under no surprise that I am a non-native English speaker and writer as well. With that said, I do appreciate constructive feedback. Please don't be overly mean at least. All the chapters are rough drafts that will be edited in the future. The cover is by this user from pixiv: https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/4545042
