《Heavenly Eclipse》Chapter 25 - True Overlord Spear

Mu Chen retreated backward by several meters and stood still with one hand behind his back as he faced Feng Yinhai, who was still in his beast form.

“Alright, come on.” Mu Chen beckoned tauntingly with his finger.

Feng Yinhai howled angrily as he rushed forward on all fours like an arrow shot from a bow, his sharp claws and teeth glinting in the sun, ready to tear Mu Chen apart.

“Little brother, watch closely! This is the true Overlord Spear Art!” Mu Chen said as he casually extended his index finger.

The entire scene was reflected in Zhao Feng’s wide eyes as he watched the battle between man and man-beast.

Mu Chen pointed his index finger at Feng Yinhai and an overwhelming pressure akin to a supreme overlord flooded out from his body. Compared to Zhao Feng’s pressure when he executed the technique, the difference was like heaven and earth.

His entire finger turned a striking crimson as his supreme spiritual qi and physical power condensed and combined with one another perfectly, endlessly compounding on top of each other and further increasing the power of the attack.

“Overlord Spear Art, first move: Piercing Heaven!” Mu Chen shouted and thrust his finger forward to meet Feng Yinhai’s claw.

In Zhao Feng’s eyes, that single finger had transformed into a supreme divine spear that could pierce through any obstacle. In that moment, he seemed to understand a little more about how one could use spear techniques, even without an actual spear.

Weapon Intent had a total of four levels. The first level was Aura. The second level was Will. The third was Unity, and the last was Soul. Mu Chen had demonstrated the third level, Unity. To be precise, it was the unity between man and weapon, to be able to use a spear technique without a spear!

Mu Chen’s finger moved at an inconceivable speed and struck Feng Yinhai right in the center of his palm before his attack could even land.

The moment that finger touched the skin of Feng Yinhai’s hand, an invisible force ripped straight through it and pierced straight through the rest of Feng Yinhai’s body. Feng Yinhai continued on his path and stumbled several steps past Mu Chen.

He slowly looked down at his chest and saw a finger sized hole in the right side of his chest where his heart was. His face was full of shock and disbelief. Mu Chen’s attack had pierced straight through his hand, his arm and then the set of earth grade armor, and lastly straight through his heart.

“I-Impossible…” He muttered as he fell to his knees and then collapsed to the ground, dead. His body rapidly shrunk and the fur disappeared as he reverted back to its original form.

“Hmm?” Mu Chen suddenly noticed that his body was reacting to something. He felt a primal thirst coming from the depths of his soul, the need to consume.

He turned and looked down at Feng Yinhai’s corpse. Something seemed to be telling him that there was something he needed from it. Following his instincts, he walked over and placed his hand on the hole in Feng Yinhai’s chest. He slowly retracted his hand and revealed a marble sized drop of blood floating in his palm.

“Devil Wolf Origin Blood!” Mu Chen could feel the bestial aura of a demon beast emanating from this tiny drop of blood.

Without hesitation, he swallowed the drop of Devil Wolf Origin Blood. Mu Chen felt a warm feeling as the blood traveled down his throat and into his stomach. The second it entered his stomach, it dissipated into several streams of energy that were absorbed into his body.

Instantly, Mu Chen could feel a warm, comforting sensation throughout his body. Then.he suddenly felt a piercing pain in between his brows, where his soul was housed.Closing his eyes, Mu Chen entered his mind's sea, where his soul was located.

The soul was essentially the “self” of a person. If one’s soul was damaged, their mental abilities would degrade based on the damage to the soul, and they would lose things like comprehensive ability or even their memories. In severe cases, it could lead to mental retardation. Moreover, it was also very difficult to restore damage to a wounded soul, as spiritual herbs that had soul-restoring properties were few and far between. As a result, they were also exceedingly expensive.

The moment Mu Chen entered his mind sea, the first thing he saw was a large, black furred wolf with crimson red eyes standing on the surface of his mind sea. It growled menacingly, its eyes filled with hatred and bloodlust. These eyes very much resembled Feng Yinhai’s own eyes.

It seemed that this was the remnant soul of the Devil Wolf that had been hiding within the Devil Wolf Origin Blood. It had somehow merged with Feng Yinhai’s own soul remnant. Mu Chen figured that it must have had something to do with the Bloodline Stimulation Pellet and Feng Yinhai’s beast transformation.

“Alright, then let this little dog be food for my soul!”

The sea bubbled furiously and a giant copy of Mu Chen slowly emerged from the depths of the water, its eyes glowing violet and gold as it towered over the black wolf. It was clad in a set of grand silver-black armor and wielded a pitch black spear in its hand. Compared to it, the black wolf was like a small puppy facing a giant.

“In this place, I am god! Little dog, submit to me!” the giant Mu Chen roared, his voice like a thunderclap as it reverberated throughout the mind sea. At the sound of his voice, the water turned choppy and the sky turned dark as lightning bolts flashed through the sky.

The wolf did not even dare to move a single muscle as it immediately covered its head with its paws and cowered in fear, letting out meek whining sounds. The giant Mu Chen’s palm descended and tightly grabbed onto the black wolf, who was repeatedly howling in despair. He then threw it into his mouth and devoured it, letting out loud chewing noises. The whining noises stopped abruptly.

Mu Chen opened his eyes as he went back to the real world. He could feel that his body had gotten slightly more powerful, and his bloodline had also similarly become stronger. It seemed that he could become even stronger by devouring more Origin Blood, perhaps he could eventually unlock the secrets of his new bloodline. Right now, he did not know what kind of powers his new bloodline held. More research and testing was necessary.

“Big brother, are you alright?” Zhao Feng asked. He was still lying down on the ground with his body paralyzed, and could only move his head. He saw Mu Chen standing over Feng Yinhai’s corpse and not moving for several seconds.

“I’m fine.” Mu Chen replied.

He bent down and searched through Feng Yinhai’s corpse, grabbing the damaged Earth grade armor. The Earth grade armor had numerous fist and foot imprints on it, as well as a finger sized hole through the chest area. It was not in good shape, but the material could be melted down and reforged into something else. He also slid a dull silver ring off the dead man’s finger.

“Oh, this wolf man actually had a spatial ring. It's a low quality one, but still a spatial ring nonetheless.” Mu Chen smiled as he slid the ring onto his own finger. If Feng Yinhai was still alive, he would probably spit blood from anger as he had saved up his contribution points for almost 2 years just so he could exchange this spatial ring with the sect.

The ring had a storage space of around 5 cubic meters, which was not too bad. He stored the damaged Earth grade armor into the ring.

After that Mu Chen looked inside the spatial ring and began to take inventory of the items within. There were some spirit stones, mortal currency like gold and silver coins, as well as some qi recovery pills and Mortal grade spiritual herbs. Piled at one side were some miscellaneous items such as weapons and unknown materials. There were swords, sabers, spears and even whips. All of them were only low to middle Mortal grade, and were not very valuable.

Just then, Mu Chen noticed a fist sized piece of dull, brown colored ore in that pile. It looked just like a random piece of iron ore and was quite unimpressive.

“Oh? This is actually a piece of star iron.” Mu Chen was slightly surprised. Star iron was a mid Earth grade material that was very suitable to be used in weapon forging. It was relatively light yet also considerably durable, making it a great material to be used in a weapon as it would boost its quality by a good amount. A fist sized piece of star iron ore like this could also be sold for a good price. Mu Chen was quite satisfied with his haul this time. It really did not take him much effort or time to kill Feng Yinhai.

Mu Chen also noticed that Feng Yinhai’s robes had a crimson red ‘九’ (Nine) character emblazoned on the sleeve.

“Nine Demon Gate again? Then this Feng Yinhai must be the eldest senior brother those two disciples from earlier were talking about.”

Shrugging inwardly, Mu Chen pushed it to the back of his mind. So what if he killed the Nine Demon Gate disciples? It was impossible to find out who did it. Moreover, he would be one of the least likely suspects anyway. In the eyes of all who knew him, Mu Chen was an untalented weakling, how could he take out the Sea Forming stage Feng Yinhai? The notion was simply ridiculous.
