《DarkVoid: The God of Death》8

The humongous beast flew from its position with each flap from its wings generating massive gusts of wind as it drifted further up into the darkening sky, stationing itself 900 meters in the air with ominous black clouds still far above it. The dragon’s keen eyesight overlooked the entire area, the Atazoth, which expanded considerably from its own eyes could see. However, there was a mess of canyons all connected to it and one another like a maze. A range of mountains from different sizes formed along the Atazoth, cutting its path from the rest of the canyon. Presumably the end of the isolation layer.
Above the mountain ranges caught the dragon’s attention, it noticed a couple of hundreds of dots flying at breakneck speeds heading to its location. It growled furiously, fumes of smoke left its nostrils in readiness in combat. Now on high alert, its slender neck quickly cast its gaze at both the north and south of its area to see a few hundred more from each direction arriving on the scene.
Meanwhile, Eraak continued to sprint while jumping over lava pits, boulders, and any shaky looking ground. The terrain was too rough and not ideal for rushing. His ankles ache from the irregular of the obsidian ground, not used to running this fast and far for this long. Reluctantly, he ignored these factors; the scientist was to fixate on the vision in his right eye. Through the eyes of the dragon, Eraak saw the incoming thousands of tiny dots; all had energy signals he had sense, no doubt to be only tier 2s.
In every case, tier 1s are never born with wings, which crosses them out of the equation, and Eraak knew full well there aren’t any tier 3s in The Central, the suspected tier was obvious. A sigh of relief escaped his lips, his muscles, although tense, were less than before. “Good, if it were a powerful form of an abomination I would’ve had to change my plan.”
Nonetheless, he felt his blood boiled from the low numbers; it was far less than he initially anticipated, leading him to presume they were underestimating his summoning and in conjunction... himself. This way of thinking consumed the mad doctor.
A bitter smile crept in, snickering, hiding the complete anger wielded inside his chest. The rage he kept bottled up from decades to centuries against the demon race were dispersing out of control in his mind. He wanted to see them all die. No mercy, just death. The most intense and gruesome death at the hands of his summoning and himself.
But that urge was suppressed when a voice entered his mind, “Remember your goal.” he recognized it as his voice from an earlier age of his life. Quick flashes of images in his head reminded himself of his goals and dreams. Stopping his sprint for a second to regain his thoughts, gasping for air as sweat poured down his tired face. His mind now cleared from his disdain for the demon race, a bit reluctant he proceeded forward.
“I need to control my hatred… I should be grateful for their incompetence will only increase our odds.”
Delving deep into his mind, he established a connection with his summoning, “Kill them all quickly and efficiently. Use your great power to attract everything towards yourself, far away from me as possible.”
Following its orders, the summoned Dragon lay its eyes on a single moderate size mountain surrounded by small canyons overflowing with lava. An idea came to mind as it focuses on gathering its energy before releasing it with another ear-splitting roar. The sheer pressure of power created a massive magnitude earthquake, felt from all directions miles away. The winds themselves rushed and blew most of the infantry away, successfully giving them massive concussions, the sheer power busted their heads like balloons resulting in hundreds of deaths. The North and south infantry suffered the most casualties, while the west managed to stay put for the most part.

To brace himself, Eraak conjured an invisible magical shield placed around him and the human from incoming debris falling on top of them. The mad scientist had anticipated the earthquake beforehand.
In a short timeframe, it gathered more of its energy before releasing it with more roars that echoed throughout the region, adding onto the already establish pressure to the earthquake.
A smile of satisfaction plastered on his face, goosebumps formed just from the sight of the demons suffering for a short period was all it took to bring joy back. “Marvelous! Yess! Kill them all!”
He regretted yelling out loud as his throat constricted from the outburst, feeling dry as the air itself. His legs were sore from the constant running, heavy panting accompanies by the intense burning of the skin, while sweat accumulated from his body. The overexcited scientist knew his body was within its boundaries.
Worse enough, he felt a minor headache coming into play, the vision spell along with the excessive running accompany by the earthquake intensifying in magnitude was the most likely cause of this. “I can feel the effects worsening. I have to hurry.” His eye darted left and right to see the canyon walls weren’t caving in as he expected, they were still miles upon miles apart, even running at 30 mph was still far too slow.
“And by the looks of it the Wall of Abigor Is still far from my sight, and my stamina is draining fast. Tsk at this rate ill collapse from sheer exhaustion-”
His inner thoughts shattered when a humongous sound burst his eardrums leading him to fall on the obsidian ground on his stomach, having only a few seconds to cast a magical shielding around his ears by covering them with his hands. He clenched his eyes and grunted from his headache intensifying. The metallic smell of blood drip down his ear canal as he lets go. He screamed on top of his lungs as he pushed his muscles to their absolute limits to stand up which he succeeded. “I… figure… as much...” He said, panting while looking through the eyes of the dragon to see the mountain it had stared at was a stratovolcano awakened from its slumber
The explosion incinerated hundreds of demons near the mountain ranges, canyons of filled lava flew high in the sky burning everything to a crisp with volcanic rocks plummeting into the demon forces. Plumes of heavy smoke drifted into the cloudy sky mixing well with the cries of anguish that filled the air, ironically blending well with the environment.
Eraak was at loss of words. He could barely fathom it; the entire west side was eliminated by a simple, yet mighty roar caused by his summoning.
“Incredible display of power and strategic mind... This beauty of a beast saw a mountain with nearby canyons filled with lava, quickly piecing together the clues, it knew the mountain was, in fact, an inactive volcano. With that information at hand, it gathered its life energy and released it upon the isolation layer as a powerful roar, alerting everything to its area while creating an earthquake. Not stopping for a single second, it added more life energy into each roar until the magnitude of the earthquake was strong enough to awaken the volcano, killing everything in its path. The strategy in itself is simple, yes, but it worked, the evidence is in my sight.”
Lost in admiration, the sounds of a stopwatch beep in his head, immediately alerting him to the current time. 10 minutes. The realization hit him like a bag of bricks. Try as he might, the mad doctor couldn’t lift his legs, his body felt like collapsing due to exhaustion. Sharp needles pierced his mind or rather two fists pressing on to each side of his head in the form of a migraine.

Stifling a cough, he reached into the pocket of his coat in search of an item. “No time to waste…”
Above the air, the dragon prepared itself to dive into the remaining survivors. Anger by their fallen comrades they push onward with as little as 20, firing their massive fireballs in unison in hopes to hit their target. Unfortunately for these fiends, the beast flew towards them, tanking the fireballs like it was child’s play. With its massive jaws it maw the first demon and brutally massacring the rest with its enormous body acting as a blunt weapon.
They stood no chance against the summoning, in fact, a few called it quits and flee from the scene as fast as possible hearing the cries of their comrades diminish. But before the dragon could brutally assault the cowards, its head glanced to the stormy sky to see it swirled into a funnel.
Seeing it in its vision as well, Eraak quickly stop and stared at the storm clouds forming. “The abominations have... finally arrive…tsk, a bit late I must say.” He said as blood slowly trickled down from his right eye.
Crackles of thunder abrupted as lightning began striking furiously at the dragon, who with fast reflexes dodge all incoming strikes. Weaving and dodging in midair.
“That funnel in the forever storm is an abomination; it’ll try to reduce your stamina until back up arrives.”
On cue, a single black winged creature, 20 feet in length materialized from the funnel thunderstorm. The abominable creature had no eyes nor any other facial features; instead, large sacs of yellow bubbles rest on its head and face reaching under its jaws, full of sharpened razor teeth with thick yellow goo dripping down.
Dodging the last lightning strike, the orange eye dragon glance at the foul creature and roared, issuing a challenge.
Eraak tightened his fist and gritted his teeth at the sight of the abominations, “Of course they’ll appear first.”
“Listen here dragon, do be careful around those abominations, do not let them take a bite out of you. The yellow goo around their mouths is a type of venom design to paralyze any living thing. More than a few bites would be able to put you down!”
Annoyed by the change of events he opened his coat pocket outward, a white beam shot towards the ground, not damaging the ground instead an object materialized out of thin air.
What lay there was a metal object coated in all white paint, held a slight curvature design and large enough to be fit around a thigh, in the middle was a wide small cylinder encased by see-through glass containing green liquid. Two small black rods on one side of the cylinder each tried to zap the green fluid every second, but the glass casing only deflected the concentrated electrical power.
“They’re looking to try to get you on the ground, so be wearily about your wings, they’ll go for it first.”
“I do not doubt that it understood me.” Rightfully so, the dragon showed signs of intelligence before, placing his trust on it wasn’t a bad idea. Eraak levitated the metal object and put it around his right thigh, securing it. Upon placing the device, a beep sounded on activation.
A pinprick needle softly pierced his skin tissue, injecting the green fluid out of the container at a steady pace. As it coursed into his bloodstream, the concentrated electricity followed the liquid throughout his body.
The intense heat of electricity zapped every inch of his body, feeling his organs were going to melt, he stifled a scream, grunting as he gripped his head as the green fluid flowed through his brain adding fuel to a burning migraine. Not long after the injection, the pain faded in obscurity, lessening his tense grip on his head.
The electricity no longer affected him, the process of the green fluid was finish as it now absorbed the electrical power continually leading to high stimulation to his muscles. His exhaustion was gone replaced by pure bliss and power flowing inside of him.
“Hehaaah yes that’s the good stuff.” A smirk plastered on his face as he straightened his legs to get a better feel, “This device now allows me to-“ with a single push of his legs, Eraak sped across the land at the top fastest speed he could go. Accelerating faster than his previous speeds by a mile and in the process breaking the sound barrier, “-run faster than the speed of sound!” he said as he continued to run near the cliff walls to hide in plain sight.
Near the funnel cloud the grotesque creature screech, accepting the challenge as it dived downwards towards the dragon, as it did, hundreds of more materialize from the storm clouds in full unison, screeching along and followed suit.
The summoned dragon roared a magnificent roar before breathing burning orange color flames at the incoming hostiles. The bright flames danced across the blackened sky, coexisting with each other like night and day, massively wide enough to engulf 23 abominations into a crisp and injuring a few dozen more in the attack, all screeching in pain as they fell towards their death.
Unfortunately, the rest dodged the attack and continued traveling downward, halting its fire breathe, the dragon resume flying in the direction of the volcano, far west side from the hive of creatures. The abominations weren’t having it as they followed suit from behind hungry for death, but they were still tad bit slow compared to the beast.
In an attempt to slow down the dragon, the funnel storm returned its lightning bolt strike against it, hitting its back and wings multiple times, roaring in agony the dragon dodged the attacks a bit more difficult than before.
Using its slower velocity as an advantage a few abominations went ahead after its wings, chewing on it with murderous intent yet they couldn’t get past the thick skin without difficulty. Instincts kicking in, the Orange-Eye dragon swung its massive tail against each abomination resulting in an offensive explosion of guts and yellow goo, splattering it onto its hide. Growling, it turned its body in a quick 180 to launch a giant ball of pure orange flames into the crowd. The flame ball exploded in a wide radius upon impacting the first creature, killing it and 29 others.
35 now left in the battle, however before it could act again the funnel itself swallowed the dragon entirely. It tried to fly through the storm clouds resulting a cry of pain from the electrifying shocks. In a shallow attempt, it fired its flames at the clouds to no avail. Sounds of the screeching creatures were steadily approaching the funnel storm.
“Damn it!” Eraak lifted his left palm and directed it towards the direction of the funnel. “Summoning it back to the dimension isn’t an option, it’ll be too suspicious for it to disappear from thin air suddenly… and on top of that, I won’t be able to escape without it distracting the forces near the wall.” He said, gritting his teeth.
Focusing his magical power around the dragon, conjuring a thin layer of shielding surrounding its hide. “The only thing I can do is shield it and prolong its existence until I’m out of this realm… a shame, I was beginning to enjoy this summoning, but I guess its fate has been set to be my sacrifice.
Fierce lightning struck every inch of its body, the shield around it protected it as the summoning desperately dodged a few, the flying abominations arrived and flew through the clouds one by one biting into the shielded skin to no effect.
The dragon used everything in its arsenal, it breathed fire and swung its tail around to keep the creatures at bay. Killing a few only spawn more.
The continuous attacks dwindle Eraak’s mana, he was losing momentum fast, and the effects of the green fluid were fading due to low power in the device and as it did the blissful effects from the liquid was disappearing, replacing it with pain and exhaustion from before.
A sigh of relief left his mouth when he noticed the walls were finally caving into a dead end. Having an urge to cough, he brought his right palm to his mouth to cough blood on his hand. His lungs increased its respiratory breathing; he could feel his body fatigue arriving sooner than expected.
Getting closer to the walls, he ran fast and used his last bit of strength into his leg muscles to propel himself high in the air and grab hold onto rocks with his free hand, climbing until suddenly halting at the ledge.
Eraak sensed thousands of demonic energy signals from the direction of the wall. “Marvelous, they finally showed up! Leaving this area would be suicide. The energies I’m sensing are from skilled tier 2s alphas, not the sort of demons I want to face.” Eraak yelled deep in his mind instead of yelling outward, which would’ve alerted the demons to his area.
Gritting his teeth before coughing more blood, the electricity around his body was lessening, indicating the device was running out of power. Another problem arises when multiple beeps signal the stopwatch inside his head alerted him it was 5 minutes until the leech was full.
“Damn it, how rather bothersome the situation has gotten, I have to stay in this position until they leave” He whispered, pain and soreness in his voice, even his outstretched arm was begging to tire out from being in the air for so long. Feeling his mana reserves depleting at this rate was exhausting on his already tiresome body. On the other hand, his ears captured the beating of wings, glancing up he could see thousands of demons, wearing full body armor flying at rapid speeds towards the funnel.
The mad doctor sighed a small relief, but his face contorted to a look pain, he could feel his grip on the shield around the dragon slipping by every damage it taken. Eraak pulled himself over the edge and continued to run; his legs ached at each step he took, blood trickled down his mouth and eye.
His vision blur as his left eye stared up at the farthest depth of the sky and saw the gigantic black wall. He could taste the ominous air surrounding it, beyond this wall was his final goal. It was beautiful yet a terrifying sight to see, different than what his secondary vision displayed.
Seeing through its right eye, he saw the dragon was slowing down from each attempted dodge, the small abominations biting on its back and arms, struggling to fight back as even its stamina was depleting. A pain of guilt struck Eraak’s heart, he sympathized with the dragon, for better or worst. But he knew he couldn’t keep the shield going, his mana reserves are an all-time low if he doesn’t let it go then there’s no way his body would be able to lift the human without falling unconscious.
“I’m very sorry, but I cannot hold the shield up any longer. You have my thanks and gratitude for your help you beautiful beast.”
And like that… he closed his fist… and undid the shield.
