《Transmigration: Operation Don't be a Martyr!》Chapter 5.26: Lilith Winterburn

Currently, there are three people inside Blare's small apartment. The two were sitting at the sofa while watching the petite woman paced back and forth with her arms crossed.

"Rhieanne, can't you think without walking around the room?" Blare softly said - her brows furrowed.

"How could I? (sigh) Lilith, your past scandals are surfacing! Because of this, many of the company's investors might sell their stocks!" Rhieanne said as she exhaled loudly.

It only took 3 days for Blare to recuperate. In those 3 days, Rhieanne was able to negotiate with the investors and their small cafe turned into a company - which Blare named Emperio.

Unfortunately, exactly after she recovered, the past of Lilith Winterburn resurfaced and the media eyed her - especially when news about her ownership of Comperio was known.

Ace was there when she was flocked at the hospital. The reporters asked slandering questions as their cameras flashed.

"Miss Lilith! Do you still love the youngest CEO in London, Mr. Aiken Charleston?"

"Are you and the CEO of the Rosenthal Conglomerate are in a relationship?"

"During your unsuccessful pursuit to Mr. Aiken, did you decide to target Mr. Ace instead?"

"Did you cause the break-up between Miss Clara and Mr. Aiken?"

Blare did not answer this nor did Ace. If it wasn't for Ace's bodyguards stopping the reporters, Blare may become helpless and possibly become violent. She simply has no patience for the people who are forceful.

However, the feeling of dread consumed her whole emotion that day. She was so scared that the only thing that was left on her mind was to hide.

Blare didn't care about their opinion but that indifference didn't change the anxious emotion inside her.

"Did any of them already sold their stocks?" Blare asked.

"No, not yet..." Rhieanne replied in an anxious manner.

Blare glanced at the man in front of her. "Lance, buy those stocks."

Rhieanne looked at her with disbelief. "You're letting them go?"

Instead of answering, Blare asked her, "How did our customers respond on this issue?"

Rhieanne flinched and quickly grabbed her tablet to look at the Comperio's website. There were some harsh comments but many defended the Comperio's reputation.

aileen7: The owner of this rubbish cafe is such a slut! Why would anyone go to this place?

caffeineislife21: @aileen7 obviously, you haven't been there. The atmosphere of the cafe is very relaxing, the staffs are accomodating, and the liquors are the best

hailhydra66: @caffeineislife21 you forgot the expensive academic books! Those things are very hard to get and we get to read them

jadefinnesse: @aileen7 you must be a troll lol, you kept spouting nonsense when you've never even been inside Comperio

halloooo94: @jadefinnesse clearly someone was pouring dirty water on the owner lmao

ilovetostudyjk: @aileen7 I don't really care if the owner is a slut or whatever they reported about her. I mean, Comperio's a great place for us students and that news about her was like, years ago? Either way, idgaf

girlwithtaste1: @aileen7 Did the owner take your man or something?

"Rhieanne?"

Rhieanne was forced to stop reading when Blare called her.

"There we some slandering comments but... Majority of them don't seem to care about your issue..." She replied in a daze.

Blare sighed in relief. "Then our problem will lessen."

She turned to Lance and said, "Lance, in addition, I need you to investigate at what price they were planning to sell the stocks to their buyers. Then start buying those stocks at a slightly higher price than what their buyer offered. If they persist at a high price, convince them that our business will end in bankruptcy."

"Also, report those investors and their buyers to me. Their personal information and their connection to their buyers. Hire a detective to do the investigations so you could hide your cover."

Both Lance and Rhieanne looked at her in shock.

"Did you offend someone?" Rhieanne asked worriedly as she sat beside Blare.

Blare shook her head. "I'm not sure ..."

She looked at Rhieanne with her sharp eyes.

"You don't have to worry about my affairs. Just prepare to call a reporter for my interview in 3 days. I only need one, professional reporter to clear all their assumptions."

Rhieanne softly exhaled and replied, "Understood."

Blare turned to Lance who was in deep thought.

The man suddenly blurted out, "If the investors knew that the customers didn't care about your past... Then we can convince them to not sell their stocks."

Blare nodded.

"Then why not just do that?"

"... We need to discern which of them plans to harm me and my company." Blare replied with her lips slightly curved up.

Then Blare snapped her fingers as if she remembered something. "By the way, the emergency meeting will begin in 30 minutes. Let's depart now."

All of them stood up without a word and left the apartment in no hurry. The reporters are outside the apartment building and are eagerly waiting for Blare. Because of that, the three discretely took the backdoor to escape the mob of reporters. The two did not notice Blare's troubled expression as her hand fisted tightly at her side.

Rhieanne's car was used and all of them left without being noticed.

Inside the car, Lance spoke in annoyance.

"Your location should be unknown. Where did those mobs get your location?"

Rhieanne sneered. "You mean, who did they get her information?"

Blare turned her attention to the car window and watched the lively street. "... Many people didn't like me back then. As far as I know, I've only pestered Aiken and Clara. The rest are just annoyed or amazed by my thick face." She said as she let out a soft laugh.

"Even so, those two would never go this far to expose my past." She added.

"How can you be so sure?" Lance asked.

Blare let out a deep sigh. "Clara's main character is that she's kind. She also knew that I already gave up having his man the last time we talked. On the other hand, I repeatedly told Aiken that we no longer have anything to do with each other. Years have passed... So it doesn't make sense that they're trying to bring me down now."

Rhieanne glanced briefly at Blare. "What if they're attacking you because you're becoming successful?"

"Those two are not so petty." Blare said confidently.

"We can only know who's behind all of this once Lance finished his investigation," Blare added while smiling at Lance.
