CLANG CLANG CLANG!
A prison guard tapped the bars of a cell inside of Sapianus City Prison with a baton, inside of the cell was a wolven woman with short and wavy brown hair that went down to just past her neck. She wiped her eyes clean of sleep as she sat up from her iron bed, her red and snake-like eyes opening up from the depths of her wolven mark that stretched horizontally across her eyes.
"Wake up! You have a visitor!" The guard shouted out as he put the baton back onto his belt. "You gotta boyfriend or something? Looks about as vicious as you do." He frowned at the woman and walked off, opening the door to the corridor that contained her cell before moving to the side. The woman heard footsteps approaching her cell, before spotting who it was - Altara. He was wearing casual attire just like when he talked to Krow.
"Hello there, Lilith. It has been a while since our brief introduction in Skarka City."
Altara stood in front of her cell, and the woman, Lilith, stood in shock.
"You...you were apart of the rebellion. You are the bastards that got me in this situation after you captured me in that church six months ago!"
"Hm." Altara looked down at his hand, itching his index finger with his thumb. "How did you end up here then? We handed you over to the rebels."
"Gh! Cus they sold me to the humans here at Homstala all because I had a large bounty for various crimes I committed in this country. As soon as they saw the amount of kredits..keh..."
Lilith slowly looked up at Altara. "So why are you here? What use am I to you?! You already got me locked up in here for life."

"Hm. You aren't the only one I've had to hunt down." Altara stopped itching his finger and looked up at Lilith with his blue eyes. "I need your Braveye."
Lilith frowned, staying silent for a second before walking up to the bars, grabbing them with both hands and glaring at Altara. "Tell me, why would a hero like you want a Braveye such as I? It is only for sadistic bastards like me, the power to increase one's wounds..."
Altara kept his eyes locked onto hers as she kept talking.
"..and how the hell would you even acquire it anyways?! It ain't possible for someone like you." She grimaced as she kept her grip on the bars of her cell, glaring at Altara.
"If I told you that if you cooperated with me you'll get your freedom..would you listen to me?"
Lilith stared at Altara for a second, her grip on the bars weakening as her eyes narrowed more. "Go on.."
Altara looked at the guard that was next to the door. "May we have a second alone?"
"Sure. You have 5 minutes." The guard walked out, closing the door behind him with a cough.
Altara leaned against the wall opposite her cell, crossing his arms.
"Someone such as you won't care much for idealogy and relations. But it is best I explain so we both get what we want."
Altara looked into Lilith's red eyes.
"Before my friend, Konstantine, captured you I killed your friend and fellow Kalamitus member, Ruby. She also had a Braveye that allowed her weapons to ignore all types of magikal constructs such as swords and shields a spellsword like me will create, letting her effectively ignore all defense from them. Quite a deadly power. Its name was Kassius. Its color was purple."

Altara's eyes then beamed purple. His narrow look remaining on Lilith who quickly stood back from the bars. "What?!"
"If someone is gifted with a Braveye from a Dogma then soon dies it goes back to that Dogma's possession. If that Dogma dies then all the Braveye's in their possession automatically transfer to the next worthy Dogma. That is exactly what happened to your now dead Emperor Nero."
Lilith's face filled with confusion. "S-So you're..related to him?"
"Yes. And now I have come to return what is mine - the Pontifex Braveye which is in your possession."
"..but Why?" Lilith simply asked.
Altara paused for a second, before looking up at Lilith. "Why should you care? I am offering your freedom for your cooperation."
Lilith sighed, keeping silent for a moment before speaking once more. "So the Emperor wants what is his. Tsk...fine. Not like it'll help me in here anyway. Would rather have an actual life outside these bars."
"And don't think you're the only one I have hunted down." Altara simply stated as he walked to the bars of her cell. "You will be released by tomorrow. I have methods. Now..would you kindly come into my arm's reach?"
Lilith hesitated for a moment, before slowly walking over to Altara. Altara then placed his hand on her temple, red smoke emitting from his body as this happened. Lilith closed her eyes as this happened, and after a moment Altara moved his hand away.
"Thank you, Lilith."
Altara then started to walk out the corridor which contained her cell.
"Altara!"
Lilith shouted, Altara looked back over his shoulder.
"Good luck..and thank you~"
Altara didn't say anything and walked out the corridor. The guard walked in as Altara exited, glancing at him as they passed each other. The guard walked to Lilith's cell, looking inside and spotting her sitting on her prison bed, silent.
"Keh!" The guard then walked past.
Altara walked out of the prison and onto the streets of Sapianus City, slowly looking up at one of the electronic billboards on the side of a skyscraper, squinting as he did. He noticed a picture of a man in his late twenties wearing a parka with a grin across their face, the words WINNER OF THE 33RD ERADICATION TOURNAMENT down the side of it. He soon noticed it was his friend Hugo.
"Shame I couldn't watch your fight." Altara smiled weakly to himself as he looked down, sighing, then walking down the street.
"Maybe..just maybe I will visit you, Hugo."

Cinder Roots (Undergoing a Rewrite)
This novel is currently undergoing a major rewrite, as I noticed several plot points that needed to be revamped. I'll leave the chapters I've posted here to anyone curious to see how everything started, but I'll be posting the rewritten story as a new novel in the future. The characters will be the same, but the journey will be more understandable and hopefully, a lot more fun to read. -------- First, everything was fire, it killed, it consumed, and it gave him life. He was just a tree, born in the biggest forest that remained in the world, full of dryads, naiads, elves and treants, but he was alone. He couldn’t see. He couldn’t talk. Curiosity plagued him. He dreamed of wandering the land, but could only wonder what stood outside the reach of his roots. The tree was tired of waiting. He decided to not just dream, but to act. How could he survive against a invading empire, a grand conspiracy that threatened to shake the foundations of the world, and the raw danger that lies within these woods? With pure determination. Warning - There are quite a few POV changes in the first chapters, but that'll change after the introduction is done, as I'll be focusing on the MC perspective only.

Einherjar
*This is the remake of Hell Bound* Einherjar, known in Norse mythology for being the warriors who fight at the end of days, Ragnarok. Arthur Clive felt that described Adventurer's pretty well, given that they were fighting to prevent the apocalypse due to a megalomaniacal being known as Chronos who somehow took over Hell and invaded Earth. It seems like a fantasy, but it isn't... and Arthur is just one of many who are trying to kill Chronos before he kills them. The only difference between Arthur and the others being that he's the closest to getting it right.
