《ADEPTAVERSE》35 - Dogma Arc: Chasing The Devil

"South of here is where I saw the old man head. You four..please be careful.."
Verse was outside the hall in Zone Eight talking to Altara, Hugo, Konstantine, and Kry. Next to her was Radius who handed over four healing potions to them, one each. Around them were groups of rebels talking to each other guarding the hall which was now the most densely populated area in the city for rebels.
"So then...see you on the other side, eh?" Radius looked at the four, smiling slightly.
"Yeah, we'll see you soon. And don't worry, I'll bring a finger back for you." Hugo said giving Radius a grin before turning around to a brown armored truck behind them, getting into the driver's seat. Kry looked at Verse and Radius as he got in the front passenger seat, Altara and Konstantine getting in the back. "Thank you for helping us save Konstantine." Kry nodded speaking, closing his door and winding the window down.
"No..thank you. If it weren't for you we wouldn't have had this opportunity." Radius smiled at Kry, Verse nodding in agreement before speaking as well. "Thanks to you guys we woke up a beast in the city, and now change may come to it."
Kry smiled, and Hugo leaned over from the driver's seat. "Whatever happens, we're all friends." Hugo put his thumbs up to Radius and Verse and leaned back over to the driver's seat. Altara winded his window down and waved at the two as Hugo started the truck, driving away from the hall and down the street slowly.
Radius looked down at the floor before looking at Verse, who coughed slightly and adjusted her respirator. He helped her adjust it more.
"After this let's get you a new one, yeah?"

Verse looked up at him, smiling and nodding. "Sure!"
...
The four drove out of the city from the north entrance.
"Why didn't we go through the south entrance?" Konstantine asked Hugo, looking out her window.
"Because the south is dominated by the government, the rebels control the majority of northern Zones. That and going in a straight line after the Emperor won't be the best idea." Hugo said, starting to make tracks to go south after exiting the city. "I will circle round the city and head south."
Altara looked out his window at the murky plains outside of the city.
"You think..your yacht is still there, Kry?" Altara asked looking over at Kry in the passenger seat next to Hugo.
"Probably yeah, no reports of storms near the eastern coast..should be fine." He looked back at Altara with a smile. "Why? You want it?" Kry chuckled.
"No! No no...I was just wondering." Altara chuckled nervously.
Kry smiled at Altara and looked at Hugo who was using one hand to adjust his ponytail. "You ever going to cut that thing off?"
"Cut what off?" Hugo asked, adjusting it still.
"Your ponytail."
"No! I look cool. Everyone has a defining feature like that." Hugo finished adjusting it and put both hands back on the wheel. "Like how Alt has his golden canines, Konstantine has her red eyes..you have..I don't know that chip that makes it so you don't have to sleep, kinda underwhelming."
Kry adjusted his glasses and glanced in the rearview mirror at Konstantine as Hugo mentioned her red eyes, she was asleep.
Hugo did the same. "Damn, she falls asleep fast."
"We're all on lack of sleep. It's been almost a week since I've had a full night's rest." Kry said as he cleared his throat. "Either way, once we get this done we can have all the sleep in the world..hopefully."

Altara looked out of his window once more, his blue eyes running across the murky plains of Wrathak as they drove along the muddy road. "Why would they settle on land as ugly as this?" He asked the two in front.
"Wrathak is rich in minerals, I guess it drove all its beauty into the ground..literally." Kry looked out of his window.
"Maybe that is the reason why they wanna invade the east, they're jealous of all the green Homstala has!" Hugo chuckled out, Kry smirked and Altara gave a weak chuckle.
...
Meanwhile in a small military base south of Skarka City.
"My Lord, there is a slight malfunction in the third missile. It would be recommended we have time to fix this error before launch as odd launch times will give them time to defend against the third missile." A Wolven man with brown hair in a black suit spoke to the old Emperor Nero. The Emperor itched his almost bald head before moving down the scratch at his decaying beard.
"Yes..yes..deal with it at once." Nero turned around and started to walk down the metal hallway he was standing in, being met with General Trench at the end of it who opened a door for him before following the slow old man.
"My Lord..."
"General......"
They continued to walk.
"My scouts have told me a potential group of rebels are tracking us, spotted through telescopes atop the city walls."
Nero seemed unfazed, speaking in a calm voice. "Good...the oligarchists have come."
"Sir?"
"I didn't shut off the security cameras on our route out the city for a reason, it is time for you to deal with them once and for all, Trench." Nero looked up at Trench as they walked.
"I understand, my Lord." Trench put his visor cap on, his dark blonde curtains running down the side of his head as he looked at the Emperor with his blue eyes striking through his Wolven mark.

Life as a Game, Cool
Soo… Hello? Why am I doing this? Ugh… Anyway, name’s Sethsamm, no last name. Why you ask? Well… it all started with me waking up and having this holographic RPG-like window in front of me. Sounds like one of the many mangas’ I read, funny. So I got this window, then it explains that my life is now a video game. And then shit hits the hay… Starts up a bit slow, also a bit of wish fulfillment. Of course, there will be plot since I have a dislike for stories without plot, conflict, or even MC struggles. I'm Always Talking to Myself
My name is Zach. I’m a typical bland featureless protagonist type. The kind of guy who has purposefully few defining characteristics so that people can project whatever they want on me. Like Luke from Star Wars or what’s her name from Twilight. Most main characters are like me. Kind of flavorless blank slates because we all secretly doubt that we’re Harrison Ford, but pretty much anyone could be Mitt Romney. Yep. Yes indeed, I do spend basically my entire life running an internal dialog to no one. Usually I’m imagining that there are people listening. Like maybe philosophers from Ancient Greece, or researchers from another planet who act suspiciously like the characters from that Instagram comic with the aliens. Stupid Instagram comedians stealing my internal monologue and turning into a wildly successful enterprise which I would imagine has a vibrant merch dropshipping arm and hundreds of thousands of daily dopamine hits for loyal followers. I basically spend all of my time explaining random things to imaginary people (and aliens, and animals, and household items which have inexplicably gained sentience and frankly have some concerns about this whole existence thing). Honestly, it’s both highly entertaining to me, in that it makes me think about why we humans do all of the bizarre things that we do, but also horrifically exhausting and kind of makes you feel like you’re either, worst cast, losing your grip on reality, or best case, becoming Abed from Community. Anyway, I’m sure that I have some distinguishing characteristics, but, in the interest of hypnotic suggestion I’m choosing to omit them until I’m pretty sure that you have subconsciously come to identify with me, or until I feel like it. (By the way, in case I forgot to mention it, a higher power called Aww Thor or something told me to say that this is a slice-of-life comedy adventure and that it's set in a fantasy world with isekai and LitRPG elements.)

I, Mor-eldal: The Necromancer Thief
As a budding little necromancer, I soon discovered that the world of city people is complicated. When my master kicked me out of the cave, he warned me not to talk about my “dark” magic, because people here don't like the undead. I am not really an undead, I just have a skeleton hand, but it is better to be careful. Anyway, that's not my biggest worry. In the Black Dagger brotherhood, I learn a lot of things, such as illusionist magic, which turns out to be quite handy to survive in this maze of streets: in the Cat Quarter, we have thugs of all kinds that are best avoided. But we also have good people, goodhearted “gwaks”, as we say around here. Little did I know that I would soon be caught up in an infamous traffic that would entangle my life even more. With a mix of lighthearted adventure and picaresque, this story narrates the hectic life of a good-spirited street child and his companions in a medieval urban fantasy setting with some nineteenth-century influences. Updates Mondays and Fridays. This is a Creative Commons By work. It is a translation of a trilogy I wrote in Spanish between 2017 and 2018.
