《ADEPTAVERSE》33 - Empire of Darkness Arc: The Kalamitus Part 4

3:20 AM.
Zone Eight, Skarka City. Wrathak.
Hugo was stood amongst a group of rebels in the street, all of which had a casual attitude to them. Their rifles were on their backs or by their side attached to a sling. Some were even eating or drinking.
"Keep your eyes out, they're using Kalamitus members to take back the Zones alongside imperial troops.." He got off the phone to Kry.
The rebels, all in civilian clothing and mostly Wolven nodded at Hugo. Quickly running away from the hall which they were outside of and getting ready in various areas in the Zone whether it be inside of buildings or on the street. They would use dumpsters as cover or even parked cars.
Hugo unzipped his parka and folded his arms, standing on the wide stone stairs to the hall he was standing before.
Behind him, sitting on a step, was Altara.
"Konstantine is inside of the hall looking at some paintings of god knows what.." Altara said to Hugo with a sigh.
Hugo looked at Altara for a second before walking over to him, sitting down.
"Yeah."
Hugo chuckled. "You know...we're quite lucky.."
"Lucky? How?"
"We came here to stop a potential invasion praying on nothing but miracles and fate to play in our favor. A four-person team versus a whole goverment..well now a whole rebellion has started our chances have increased one hundredfold. I mean if we failed we would have all been killed but..well we agreed to do this back in Homstala."
Altara looked up at Hugo, and Hugo looked back with a grin.
"Are you saying the rebellion has a chance to overthrow the government?"
Altara asked, itching his cheek and looking back down the stairs at the street.
"We certainly are outnumbering the government in terms of men and women. The civilians that aren't joining the cause are simply locking themselves inside their houses." Hugo chuckled. "Says a lot..they would rather fight against the empire than with it...I wonder whose fault that is?"
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Four gunshots were heard inside the hall behind them, the two running inside without a word.

They saw Konstantine backed up against one of the pillars inside of the hall, Hugo saw Konstantine and started to run to her but Konstantine put her hand out to him with her hand up.

"Stop!"
She shouted. Hugo stopped as instructed as did Altara who was standing just behind Hugo. The hall's doors closed behind them.
"Two of them, female. Appeared from the roof. They must have snuck into the Zone and skipped over all of our defenses."
Hugo summoned his battleaxe with a flick of his wrist following a low hum in the room from the magikal energy. He looked around and held it in front of him. Altara summoned his red greatsword after some effort, grunting from the slight strain.
Hugo looked at Altara with a grin, seeing his summon for the first time. He quickly regained focus however and stayed on guard.
Konstantine had her fully automatic pistol in her hand.
"KONSTANTINE! ABOVE YOU!" Altara shouted, Konstantine rolled forward dodging a strike from two blades that stabbed into the ground. The three all looked at the figure, which was Ruby. Her eyes were glowing a dark purple. The elven assassin pulled her two tantos out of the ground and looked at the three.
Hugo summoned a crossbow in his other hand and fired it at Ruby who rolled to the side, running in a semi-circle around the three before jumping at Hugo aiming her blades for his chest. Hugo grinned seeing that he could block the attack with the head of his axe but...
SLASH!!!
"GR!" Hugo's eyes widened with shock and confusion as the blades drove into his chest. Ruby swiftly took them out and kicked off of Hugo, who staggered and fell to the floor. Ruby looked at Altara and Konstantine as she stood away from Hugo.
"With Kassius I will claim this bounty and all the riches that will come with it." Ruby mumbled.
Altara looked at Hugo on the ground, his breathing quickly getting more rushed..his eyes locked onto Hugo, grimacing with anger before he suddenly screamed out loud.
"HYAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Altara's body quickly started to steam with red magik as he ran at Ruby, swinging his greatsword at her neck. Ruby ducked under the strike and aimed a lunge at Altara's stomach. Altara dodged to the side.
Konstantine sprayed fire-enchanted bullets at Ruby, one of which hit her shoulder before she dashed behind a pillar. Altara ran at the pillar and swung his greatsword at it, causing it to crumble upon impact. Ruby dashed straight through the rubble at Altara who attempted to block a strike from her tanto but saw that it phased straight through his sword.

Upon seeing this Altara realized what happened to Hugo, being stabbed in the shoulder with one tanto but before the other could land into his neck Altara grabbed Ruby by the neck, slamming her into the ground. Ruby's eyes were blazing purple still as Altara started to choke her. Konstantine's eyes widened at this seeing the normally calm Altara lose his cool, then she looked at Hugo who was incapacitated on the ground.
"Gh~" Ruby slowly brought one of her tantos up.
"ALTARA MOVE!" Konstantine shouted, aiming her pistol at Ruby. Altara blinked twice and got off of Ruby and stood up, Ruby dashed out behind another pillar as Konstantine sprayed her bullets at her, none hitting.
Hummmmmmmm~
Another figure suddenly appeared, dropping from the ceiling. It was a wolven woman with snake looking red eyes; Lilith. "Sorry I am late...darlings~" She looked at Hugo, her eyes blazing pink.
Konstantine aimed her pistol at her. "YOU STAY AWAY FROM HIM!"
Altara ran from behind Lilith and swung his greatsword at her. Lilith ducked just in time and ran to the other side of Hugo, aiming her hand at him as another hum emitted throughout the area. Hugo's wounds were getting bigger.
Altara's body steamed more with red magik as he saw this, pointed his greatsword at her. Ruby slowly walked out from behind the pillar and looked at Lilith expanding Hugo's wounds slowly, before staring at Altara and Konstantine.
"Get away from him."
Altara mumbled, his eyes looked dead and his body still steamed with red magik.
Lilith however, ignored him. Instead focusing on making the wounds slowly worse..her legs twitched..
"Ruby..deal with him."
Ruby lunged at Altara with her tantos extended, aiming one tanto at his stomach and the other at his chest. Altara locked his eyes on Ruby and let one tanto drive into his stomach.
Seeing the blade go inside of him, Altara acted. He brought the greatsword up and stabbed Ruby straight through her chest. Ruby's strike to his chest also landed, but was weak, only going halfway through. She coughed blood and looked up at Altara, who spoke to her.
"I found the secret of your power rather quickly, and from there I knew sacrifices had to be made to counter it. A deadly power, unless it is up against someone who will do anything to live." Altara spoke down at Ruby, who's eyes were shaking. The purple glow vanished as she slid off of Altara's greatsword and landed lifeless on the floor.
Lilith saw this and gasped. "You...BASTARD!"
Hugo's wounds started to expand more as she stood over him. Altara swung his greatsword at Lilith but collapsed halfway through the swing. His wounds were also expanding.
Konstantine noticed what happened and her eyes widened, before narrowing onto Lilith. She quickly walked up to her and aimed her pistol at her from a few meters away.
"If you stop I will let you live, witch!" Konstantine shouted strictly at Lilith, who glanced up at her. She extended her hand at Konstantine but her face swiftly turned into one of confusion.
"Ruby..didn't injure you?"
"You had too much faith in her."
Lilith grimaced and looked down at Hugo and Altara.
...
.....
"I...surrender.."
Lilith mumbled, the pink glow in her eye vanishing as she stood straight.
Konstantine was surprised, but slowly holstered her pistol.
"Good choice."
Lilith looked at Ruby, then at Hugo and lastly Altara.
BANG!
Konstantine fired an electric bullet into Lilith's foot, causing her to spasm and land on the floor, knocked out.
Konstantine checked Hugo's pulse and exhaled with relief, the doors to the hall opening as four rebels ran in. Konstantine looked back at them. "Get a doctor!!" She went over to Altara and checked his pulse as well, but Altara placed a hand on her shoulder.
"I'm fine."
