《Garden of Thorns *Lit RPG*》V2 Chapter 20: An attack.

The Jade Principality was in a mess. The leading officers in a meeting room were scorning one another because of the details they had received.

"How were we averted!? We had the holy church's aide and the dragons?! We did see the HErtia Kingdom as nothing short as pathetic! If we can destroy them, we can use them as slaves for our work! They have the abundance of resources that we'll need!? So why is that they're able to push us back!?" The leader of the Jade Principality, His Excellency, Great Leader Nevar Elsia slammed his fist by the table.

"What of the other worlders?"

"We've told them off the situation and they are planning to help us, but it is reported that chosen Mitsuki has gone missing along with her companions. We've also received reports that our attack on Reznoa had failed. Even with our insiders who have helped to prepare the damage, they were brought back to us... Stitched together in a... Inhuman fashion. Our inside men were stitched into a giant mass of a ball and left at the capital. We're trying to get the church's help to restore them but... It seems that whatever that they were subjected to, was enough for their sanity to be lost. A few of the Church's paladins and their bishops had died as a result of trying to restore the sanity." The report had Nevar in a fit of rage.

"We planned this attack on both fronts. We have the dragon kingdom, the church and we've gotten a few more nations to join us. The Huskar Republic is also joining us to conquer the Hertia Lich Kingdom as a whole... Who is the one stopping us?"

"The reports highlighted that it was done by Albert Sylvanus and the Sylvanus Knights that have joined him had been enough to push most of our forces back. Your Excellency." Nevar was scratching his head, trying to process the fact that they were being pushed back.

"Get the Vampire Aristocracy. Make sure Kellam is ready to execute that Albert Sylvanus! If we kill him, then our invasion will resume! We must ensure seize the Hertia Kingdom. Those demons have all the resources that all of us will need to ensure our prosperity!"

"Yes, Your Excellency!"

Back to Albert who was standing on top of piles of bodies with his hand holding an axe. He was chopping the human limbs up, as he passed it to Kaglar who was cooking up a storm for the residents who were present. Skinning humans alive for food, it's not as if the residents have a choice in the matter since their supplies had been ravaged. The skeletons, the various creatures looked at Albert with confusion. The living creatures within Hertia were thinking about what they were seeing.

"You have to eat."

"You just killed humans and your having us eat them?"

"Some of you feed on souls, but some of you like the ogres, hobgoblins, orcs and the other kin need sustenance. Besides I'm sure you've all eaten human meat before. Just eat them, don't see them as humans. See them as cattle. Like how I eat orc meat." Albert said as he continued to use a set of knives to take out the bones from the human bodies. For Kaglar.

"I've got the human body parts that are soft, where should I put them?"

"Ah just put them in the stew. I'm sure the Hertians are horrified. They're seeing a human help carve through humans for them."

"I don't see the Jade Principality as humans though. I see them as beasts that need to be cut open. Albeit much easier to cut them open than you orcs. I've nicked a few of my long swords thanks to you. Oh the Sylvanus Knights are here." Albert turned to see the Sylvanus Knights and the Fangs who knelt before him.

"Focus on ensuring that the residents feel safe. Set up perimeters as needed. Also help serve them food from Kaglar. Don't eat it though, it's not safe for humans to consume another human's flesh. We do have the rations we stole from the Jade Principality but it's not safe for the Hertians to eat thanks to all of the.. Holy magic imbued into it." Albert said as the Sylvanus Knights and Fangs did as instructed Reimi was looking at Albert.

"Your Grace. There were attacks in the capital. Should we be worried?"

"No. You don't have to be worried. The Ancients are more than enough. Besides the assassins they sent had been dealt with quickly. So you won't have to worry."

"Erm... Duke Sylvanus?" An orc chieftain came with a pendant.

"Yes?"

"This pendant is said to house a divine beast... It has been in this town for generations... What will you do about it?" Albert picked up the pendant looking at the orc chieftain.

"There is a beast within but I'd like to see what this one is." Albert said as the beast appeared out, it was a large blue griffin. It's size was comparable to Ferno's Black Phoenix form.

"I greet the one who has awakened me."

"I may have awakened you but I am not your master. I do have someone I believe will be needing you in the future."

"The Lord of Beasts. I see. You have defended this town in my stead. I truly apologize for my power to have been lacking to be used. I am Zuria the Cobalt Griffin that is of water." Cobalt Griffin lowered its head for Albert to stroke it.

"It's fine. But in the event the Lord of Beasts need you. Be sure to help him."

"Of course, I will remain here until I am summoned." Zuria roared as griffins came to make a protective barrier around the town.

"Your Grace... The Jade Principality and its allies, the Vampire Aristocracy, Dragon Kingdom and the Church of Vestivia. Have declared war on Reznoa and Hertia." Reimi came to report the details to Albert who merely nodded.

"What of Hertia's forces?"

"They've already been mobilized. The Jade Principality has already begun its all out assault. What are your orders?"

"Stay here. Kaglar, Iacus, Donovan. We're going to go intercept the enemies of Reznoa." Albert said as they got on board their horses.

"Let's go!" The journey would be 10 days, but the four of them rode their horses faster than the speed of sound. Even faster than the light itself as they were going to reach the battle. The First battle at the Reznoan Fortress that faced the Jade Principality.

Guilmore Fortress. Cannons were being prepped as Albert's entourage arrived.

"Duke Sylvanus?!" The soldiers greeted.

"Continue your prep. How are the civilians?"

"We've gotten them to safety... Your Grace.. How did you get here so fast?!"

"Never mind that soldier, we have a battle to prepare." Albert said as he checked in with the military. The Imperial Army was well armed with semi-automatic rifles but it paled to the comparison of the Jade Principality's assault rifles and carbines, but they make it up for it with higher caliber bullets. Some of them were equipped with M1 Garands, SVT-44s, SKSes. The Reznoa Kingdom had more magic users but magic would be useless if the Principality was able to take their casters down first.

The Princess and the Saintess were to remain in the capital, which Albert was fine with. Not that he cares or gives too much of a damn about it. To him this was nothing important. Albert was going to use the axe that had Sanguine Blood's page attached to it.

"I'm a little excited." Albert said as he took a moment to glance out to see the oncoming army. Vampire knights, vampire soldiers, vampire mages joined in with angels and human soldiers. Tanks and armored vehicle transport. Dragons. Throwing his mask aside as Albert took off his shirt.

"Your Grace?" The soldiers looked at Albert who lit a cigarette as the gates opened for them.

"Shut the gates." The four of them stepped out as Albert lit a cigarette for himself. Kaglar was carrying his zweihander, while Donovan readied his long sword and sword breaker. Iacus readied his rapier and the throwing daggers with Albert readying the axe in hand. Facing the large numbers of the threats before him.

Albert grinned as he leaped at the vampire mage, chopping an arm off. Then the leg, flipping the axe as he removed the vampire's head. Beginning to acquire the First Buildup.

'Page Buildup- Thirst : Bleed chance increased by 200%. When bleed is inflicted on enemy, bleed will increase blade sharpness to Sanguine. Sanguine increases pierce chance through armor by 25%. Stacks up to 50%. +5 % For every 100 stacks of bleed.'

Albert was continuing on, swinging his axe madly as limbs were flying. The flesh lumber looked lovely and the thirst was going to need a lot of it to be satiated. Albert started swinging, his axe didn't drag in between attacks. Instantly chopping through as if the flesh and bones were just sharpening it. The blood splashing to Albert's face as they see a grin showing up.

The vampires all reacted to Albert, attacking him in pairs. Parrying their attacks was easy, but Albert needed to do something to break the onslaught. A fast parry with the axe, then pulling the vampire into it. Crashing into the back of the axe's blade, where Albert kicked it through. A loud crack was heard as Albert looked at the Second Demolish.

'Page Demolish - Neverending Cravings - Health damage -7% every second. Recover by causing bleed damage to enemy or by parrying. Parrying enemies now leave them in a state of bleeding that'll cause their blood to recover your health by 2% per enemy.'

Albert was smiling as he picked up the axe, parrying an attack from Vampire Mages that had launched blood spheres to try and restrain Albert from moving. The blood spheres were filling up Albert's blood meter and seeing the Sanguine Blood being satiated. Unlocking the Third Buildup.

'Page Build Up- Red Commodity - Gives more blood upon injuring targets, prolonged pain to vampires.' Albert was going to have fun with this as he went after the vampires. The touch of the axe slowly sinking through a vampire knight's armor was enough to cause a shriek to be heard. They heard voices.

"If I can eat their blood. I will be okay."

"They took everything from me. So I'll take everything from them!"

"I've become a vampire but I will only drink their blood!" The voices raged on as the vampires were in a disarray, their mind control magic failed to control Albert. Their mental disruption spells were being bounced back to them. A sign that the individual before them had greater pride and willpower that was enough to stop most of them.

Kaglar, Iacus and Donovan were handling the other side. Kaglar swinging his zweihander down to cleave a tank in half. Iacus leaped into the air, throwing daggers made of darkness to pierce into the tank crews inside. Donovan took a direct shot from a barrage of magic with his shield, then throwing it into a soldier's head. Rushing in with his long sword to cleave his way through. Sword breaker to intercept a saber, snapping it as Donovan shoved the sword breaker into the crusader's throat.

"The Ancient Demon of Black!? Then... That's the Wise of Darkness and the Berserking Shield. Were they this powerful?!"

"The Anccient Demon of Black?! Didn't we have the demon realm on our side!?"

"Sorry, but I make it a point to join hands with the strongest. Only way someone can win me over? Is if they're stronger than me!" Kaglar howled as he charged in with a mace. Slugging the crusaders into the air, launching them off to crash into the angels that were in the air.

"Set it up for ya!"

"Thanks!" Iacus ran to Kaglar's side, stepping on top of the mace.

"Alley oop!" Kaglar launched Iacus into the air, where daggers formed by Iacus's side. Marking the targets by visual as the daggers seek them out like sharks taking their prey. The daggers sunk their teeth deep into the angels and crusaders, piercing them in a quick multitude. Phasing through the bodies and striking at them in a repeating strike.

Iacus landed on Kaglar's shoulders, who swapped his mace out for a ballista. With Iacus providing the bolts. A single shot from the ballista pierced through a tank, and taking the dozens of soldiers that took cover behind it. A bolt of darkness was loaded as Kaglar pulled the mechanism to ready it once more. Donovan took the hits of the gunfire with his shield. Ensuring that Kaglar and Iacus would be uninterrupted, erecting a special defensive array to blanket them. Nothing goes in, but whatever that is fired from the inside goes out at twice the speed. This means that if there was a gunfight on the inside?

It would be a dangerous place to be in because the speed of the projectile would be doubled. Kaglar fired off another 10 bolts before Donovan shut the defensive array down, then preparing a frontal assault. The eyes of fear had gazed upon the three Familiars, where they see Albert charging through the enemies with the axe.

Getting the Fourth Page Build up.

'Page Buildup - Blessed Abomination- Killing vampires while absorbing their energy to refill health and mana, your attacks have 70% chance to negate their 'Vampiric Armor'

The Vampiric Armor was a layer that Vampires would use in a desperate attempt, cladding their bodies in armor made of blood. That was the point of it, there was enough blood shed on the battlefield for the vampires to use their powers. The blood covered over them to form into scarlet armor that fitted their bodies.

"Attack!" The Vampires began to vanish, showing off their superior speed to overwhelm Albert. Their strength and speed increased by two fold while their defense is tripled. Would that be enough? Albert grinned as he swung the axe. Breaking through the armor, slicing the vampire in half.

"What?!" Albert felt the crimson stains on his hands, fingers slick from the kill. Yet the grip on the axe was still fine,Albert chased down the vampires, a swing bounced back. Where Albert responded by stabbing the Vampire with a knife to the throat. One hit his back, but Albert managed to counter with a fine swing. Sending the head flying into the air.

'Page Buildup - The Vampire Killer. -Grants 75% bonus damage chance for killing Vampire and anything that tries to kill you.' The fifth Buildup meant that manifestation was available. The last Page has been given with the manifestation ready, Albert used it.

"Manifest!" Albert's entire body was cloaked in a red duster. A hoodie with his eyes glowing a bright crimson that caught the vampires off guard. A folded sickle in the right hand and a specialized pistol in the left.

"A pistol?" Albert looked at the pistol.

Due to killing vampires. Page Sanguine Blood has upgraded its weaponry.

The weapons have been updated to its 2nd stage.

Pages will upgrade when you use it according to its form.

In this case Sanguine Blood is anti vampire killer.

So killing vampires while using this page will increase its potency and changes.

Albert looked at the stakes that was inside the duster, they were made of wood but its sharpness was something that had even bothered Albert. Now Albert was going to make his debut with this page. Unfolding the sickle as he charged straight at them, laughing manically as he was following the heavy craving of thirst. Wanting the blood from the vampires. The currency of these vampires was blood and Albert was going to be the richest among them with his onslaught.

The sickle focused on increasing bleed, collecting blood with its blade while the pistol focused on pierce. The pierce left holes that was attracting blood to Albert. The vampires were feeling the attacks as a whole, their magic was rescinded because of the duster's properties. 'Superior Vampiric Armor'. Now to cleanse everything with the blade.

Albert threw a few stakes that struck into the vampire's chest, but not enough to pierce through. A kick to push it into the heart, turning the vampire to ash.A fast strike with the sickle to decapitate the head and a kick to pierce through. Damages with the stake would stop the Vampiric Armor from regenerating and stagnates their healing ability. Convenient, as Albert continued to chase the vampires down. Not giving them any mercy or any breaks.

Kaglar, Donovan and Iacus were still going ahead with the chaos. Overwhelming the battlefield with their presence and techniques. The spirit to fight had been shattered by the prowess shown. What the Jade Principality could do was beg for mercy. The angels that faltered, trying to get the blessings of their goddess. Using whatever that they had, burning their life force to try and reach Kaglar. Who merely swung his blade over to their direction. Turning the bright fragments of holy angels into nothing but pure dust. Snuffing the light as if it had no significance in its existence.

"We surrender! We surrender!" The Jade Principality soldiers knelt to their knees, as demon knights, demon lords, demon dukes and demon barons made their way to the battlefield. Dragons above them with wyverns and griffins. Elves, dwarves, dark elves. This was expected, as Albert grinned while looking at his three Familiars that walked on over to his side.

"Oh ho... More of them? Now this'll be fun!" Kaglar roared as Iacus readied more of his throwing daggers.

Donovan shouldered his long sword and held the shield.

"They might need a lot more numbers if they want to take us down." Donovan yawned as he put the shield down, pouring a bottle of water through his mask. Albert placed a cigarette to his lips, lighting it up as he threw the head of a vampire over to their path.

"Second round of idiots. Let's see how much they can handle us." Albert said as he looked at a vampire that stood before him.

"The Vampire Aristocracy's Second in Command. Kellam B. Edtear." Kaglar introduced where Albert was still in his manifestation of Sanguine Blood. Lowered the hood as he looked into the vampire known as Kellam. Claws in hand, a smile as he looked at Albert.

"Why don't you serve me? I can grant you power. I can grant you immorta-" Kellam's head was sent flying, where Kaglar caught it.

"You should have just attacked him. Trying to reason with him? It's a big waste of time. Anyway, Kellam. you won't die, it seems that my master wants to show you the fall of that vampiric pride of yours." Kaglar chuckled as they watched Albert charge ahead.

"How... How can a human be that powerful?" Kellam spoke with disbelief, staring at Kaglar who smiled at the vampire head.

"Your mistake was allying yourself with the Jade Principality. And don't worry, I've been given the lovely task to bring your head to someone. I'll be bringing your head back to the Aristocracy. So they can make a decision to not piss him off." Kaglar snarled with joy as they watched the chaos unfold.

Blood was the name of the game and the sickle was reaping its rewards.Albert was covered in scarlet with a mix of gray and mush from muscles. Now on with another bloodbath.
