《Garden of Thorns *Lit RPG*》V2 Chapter 2 : The end of the dungeon.

The dungeon fight itself was fine, nothing too serious. Just fend off waves of ghouls instead of a boss. The mission was done, Silas had picked up the items and they left. The Hunter's Association members checked in with their details. Confirming the ghouls inside the dungeon and closing it up. The dungeon portal vanished.
"Alright. Let's head back guys. Father Nelson might be worried about us. Hey new guy. We're changing your pay to 40 thousand. You deserve it. You helped us out and helped Lenny get some more Exp. He might be able to be a C-Ranked Hunter from now on!" they left first, Silas received his bonus and that was great. Some money to help with Jensen's recovery but there was another thing that he was going to do.
Though he did want to check out what Bradley's group is all about. He put on his mask and his hooded tailcoat. Now moving through the city in silence, not one soul could detect him if he moved in this place. No one would even recognize him. Following Bradley back.
"Hey Brad. You thinking about recruiting the newbie?"
"I don't know Lenny. He's a strong guy. He might not look like it, but I could tell that he's way stronger than me. That guy might be an S-Ranked Hunter someday. My skill Foresight showed me the growth that he can reach. He's not your usual F-Rank. I would want him on our side, but we don't have much to offer. Other groups might want him." Silas was surprised, to think a skill like foresight existed.
Stalking them from the shadows where it led them to an orphanage with black cars by the outside. Men in suits were glaring at them. Silas got closer to hear what's going on.
"So you got the money?" A man wearing a tacky furcoat asked. He had golden rings by his fingers.
"500 thousand righth ere. Have we paid the debt, yet Mister Ross?"
"Heh, of course. Your debt has been paid but only for this month. We expect more next month. Or you know what will happen." Silas watched as a woman was thrown by their side. Her face was bruised and battered, then seeing the man called Ross laugh with his gang while Bradley's group kept silent. Gritting their teeth. Silas noticed two A-Ranked Hunters in suits who were quiet.
Silas was thinking. What should he do, does he hesitate? Or will he kill them right now? He's not a stranger to that but he wanted to see more details. If he was careless, the ones to suffer was Bradley and his group. Silas hid himself beneath the car where Mister Ross and the two A-Ranks Hunters were present.
"Easy money. 500 thousand like this and we can do so much more. It's nice to have a piggy bank." Mister Ross was speaking with a smile, Silas was waiting for the interesting chatter.
"We'll be doing it again. Make sure that we don't cross their tab. They've already paid their debt but now making them pay the living debts sounds a lot more fun. Can't pay and we'll grab the people orphanage people. Doesn't that sound fun?"
"I mean it wasn't worth the time. I would have just killed Bradley's group. Besides, I need to buy a new diamond ring for my fiancee. What about you?"
"A new crib for the wife and the baby." Silas found it ironic but Mister Ross was happily counting the bills as the car stopped via an intersection. Hearing bits and pieces of their details. Hearing how Mister Ross is one of the biggest money racketeers in the underworld. There was a number of ways Silas could do this, but he wanted to make sure to leave a message.

When the car stopped, the three of them got out. the two A-Ranks joined Mister Ross for dinner while Silas snuck into the compound, phasing through the walls with none the wiser. Finding a notebook, one that had many names inside. Evidences of a ledger and a journal that had the names. One of it included Jensen Glenn's name.
Borrowed money for the sake of family and to pay off the tuition for his siblings. Owes Mister Ross 2 million in total. The 500 thousand he borrowed had gained interest to reach 2 million. There was a good way to deal with this, Silas was pondering about killing Mister Ross now but that would be useless.
It'd be best if he took the journals, notebooks and ledger altogether. Then use it as bait to draw out Mister Ross to his location. An empty location, Silas could only think of one of their warehouses. He even found a note regarding the strength of Mister Ross's group. 5 A-Ranks along with the rest being 50 B-Ranks and the rest are just normal humans.
Silas went over to the warehouse that had one of their bases. Loud party music was blaring, Silas knocked the door.
"Who is it?" Silas readied his heavy blade, shoving it through the door. Kicking the blade through impaling two men.
"It's an attack! It's an attack!" Ross's Hunters readied their weapons, trying to see who left it. Only to take two tomahawks to the head. Whereby Silas appeared, flicking his wrist as the heads of the two were now facing backwards. Silas flipped backwards, throwing the tomahawks at a pair of Hunters.
"Bloody Roar!" The skill activated as the Hunters began to glow red, Silas could see the effect above their heads. 'Damage resistance 70%. Agility increased by 50%.'
"Oh that's cute... But I doubt it can do anything against this." Silas said as he let out a roar that shook the building.
'Dragon's Roar cancelled Bloody Roar. Enemies are now in a state of fear.' Silas went after them, the ease of the tomahawks cut through their armors. The blood splashed on Silas's all black outfit. The white hair stained by blood was all that they could see. Glimpses of Silas with his glowing crimson eyes. Their heads began to fly into the air, blood trickled from his feet. The humans were left, they began firing their guns at Silas who vanished. Throwing his tomahawk at the foot of one gunman.
Teleporting close to it, where he used his hand to pierce through the gunman's chest. Freeing the rifle from the limp hand, then firing to the others. Casually emptying an entire magazine into the others. Throwing the rifle aside, then looking at the gunmen who coughed blood on his face. Silas kicked the body aside.
A snap of his fingers as the blood was expelled from his clothes. More of the gunmen were present, they kept on firing but Silas continued to dodge their aim. Leaving nothing short but blurrs to their eyes as his gloves turned into gauntlets. Clawing through them all like a lion toying with its prey. Soon, the entire warehouse had corpses left. Silas grabbed a phone, he was going to bait Mister Ross here.
"Mister Ross. I've got your journal, the ledgers and a notebook that has all the details about your acts against the people. I'm at one of your bases. Why don't you come and get it. Bring your guards too."
"That's a bluff. You don't have my ledgers."
"Then how about a video call?" Silas tapped the camera button to show Silas holding the three ledgers, along with the corpses of Ross's men behind him.

"Your Hunters were fun but that's about it. So make sure you bring all of them." Ross hung up as Silas took a seat, slightly lifting his mask as he lit a cigarette for himself. The calm before the storm, he could hear the cars on approach to his position. Some slight rumbling as Silas looked at the environment beginning to shift. The walls were being peeled off, like the entire building was being deconstructed.
Silas looked around him, helicopters, a few tanks and an army. The A-Ranks were standing by Mister Ross's side.He could hear the bastard grumbling from the inside. Cursing him the entire way, Silas crushed the cigarette as it turned into ash in his hands. Then standing up as he held a katana by his left hand.
"You have no idea who you fucked with did y-" Mister Ross's hand flew off. The five A-ranks shielded Ross as the helicopters, the tanks and his people were cut. Nothing was left alive.
"What the hell!? My arm! My arm!?" Mister Ross began to scream in pain as the four A-Ranks charged at Silas with their swords, going in with a combination attack. Silas merely walked past them and grabbed the fifth A-Rank by the hand. A witch, she smiled at Silas grabbing her hand.
"Inferno's flames!" The flames appeared but they burned her instead. Her screams was heard by the other four who attempted to strike Silas again. Only to freeze upon making eye contact.
"I expected more but perhaps this was suitable. I don't think I need to leave a witness. I already have him." Silas snapped his fingers as vines began to pull them to the side, with the thorns piercing through their skin. They found their place near a tree, where the ground opened its mouth to allow for the four A-Ranks to be thrown inside. When the mouth closed, their screams were muffled as roses began to bloom where the four A-Ranks had been left. He was cowering, whimpering as he covered his head.
Silas walked on over. Every footstep had Ross screaming in anticipation of his death.
"You won't die Ross. I'll keep healing you but... You won't die. No matter what I do to you. You should be glad, Ross. Not everyone gets to see my handiwork." Ross's screams had faded, as Silas placed his hand over Ross's head. Injecting Ross's mind with what Silas had done to Aegis. Harming Aegis at every step. He was making Ross feel what Aegis had felt. Silas was going to leave Ross nothing short of a man on the verge of insanity.
When dawn broke out, Silas cleaned up his hands. Looking at Ross who was limp on the floor. His whole body was untouched, but he had wet himself out of the intense fear. Foaming by the lips, bloody tears from his eyes. The intensity of the pain broke a God, what more a human? Silas also placed a curse on Ross, that if Ross ever tried to start his business again or even attempted to prepare for it. He would go through the same thing over and over again. He'd see the black skull mask everywhere, he would see the demon that had destroyed his entire army with one blow. The guards he had paid so much money for? What use were they against this monster?
Such things were enough, Silas left Ross to stay there. This time returning elsewhere, going back to the hospital. No one would know where he is or who he was. Finding Ericson, Alex and Bigby sleeping in Jensen's room. Silas slipped in the pay he had gotten, leaving a note.
'Going to university. I got some work I need to do. -Silas XOXO.' Silas then placed his hand over Jensen's head.
"Donovan, Iacus." Silas used telepathy to talk to the pair.
"What is it, Lord?"
"Can my Familiars appear in dreams to train others?"
"Of course. All their experience with us will be remembered. Is there anything that you need?"
"I need you to train a person, he's my long lost twin."
"The new world right? We can handle it." Donovan said Silas stepped into Jensen's mind. Seeing Jensen just crying because he was weak.
"Do I have enough money to pay Ross?"
"Will grandpa be okay?"
"I can't keep doing this, what if I fail and then what happens to my family?!"
"Why am I weak?" The voices were bouncing off the wall. This entire mind was covered in darkness, as Jensen was slowly sinking into the abyss that was below him.
Silas was wearing his Coat of Crimson along with the Mask of Grief. Staring at Jensen who was startled by the appearance. Silas pulled Jensen out of the abyss.
"Who are you!?"
"Iacus, Donovan. Train him well." The Counselor and the Guardian made their appearance, standing before Jensen.
"Stand tall, young one. We will train you." Silas vanished, he was going to leave Jensen to those two. This will be Jensen's first trial. If Jensen wished to be stronger. The Lord of Thorns headed to Richmond University, his outfit was his Hunter gear. This time heading over to report over to the campus, he was taking a business course as a major. Silas could see a group of individuals, namely C-Ranks who were going to be coaching the students who have the aptitude as Hunters.
The Hunter Training Grounds programme had started, every student was being vetted. Silas took a moment to look at his stats. Seeing the words 'Level up being present.' His level had risen 10 times. So he was now a level 10 with 50 Stat points.
He'd put 20 in INT to increase magic and 20 in AGI and 10 in STR.

That was not a bad choice, Silas headed onwards, this time keeping his thoughts to himself. When he walked through the entrance, he showed his student ID. He was stopped by a woman who had a sniper rifle hung over her shoulder. She had her C-Rank license popping out by the collar of her shirt.
"Hey kid! Are you a Hunter?" Silas showed his Hunter License.
"F-Rank, alright good start. Make sure you head to the training grounds later after your first class." Silas nodded as he headed to class first. Stepping into class where he gained some attention because of the F-Rank license. He was a loner in the campus and that was fine. Not that Silas knew how to make friends the usual way anyway. His hobbies were bizarre, always reading up about the monsters that were in the dungeon portals.
There have been a few cases where the dungeon portals could not contain the creatures inside but that was very rare and only happens to anomalies known as Dungeon Portals. For now, Silas focused in class. Even if he wasn't paying attention he had all the answers prepared which had the lecturer surprised. The usual tactic of lecturers thinking that the ones who were busy fiddling with their phones were not paying attention was not applicable to Silas. It was just how he was.
When class was over, Silas headed over to the new Hunter Training Ground facility. A few strong pressences had made their appearance, their strength was comparative if not close to the SSS-Rank Venerators in the world but in short, they were just called S-Ranks Hunters. Out of everyone he was the one who was late. Stepping into the hall seeing the 10 figures that were mixed with A-Rank and B-Rank Hunters who were observing them. Sort of like a gauge for power. All that was necessary was power in this world and clearly there was no shortage of it.
The power gap between S-ranks and the F-Ranks were higher than what Silas was used to and if his intuition is right. He's going to be in a bit of a pickle. The ones in these halls were newly registered Hunters. They just started their registration today, but Silas was the only one who had experience as he had been in one dungeon so far.
Yet, he could feel the intense aura coming all over him.

Conquest Of Mortem
*NOTE* This novel is a war of attrition. To say anything less is a disservice to its demand. While comparable to other such works as Ulysses or Moby Dick, each sentence in Conquest is an enemy to be tackled. Not in the ways of difficulty but in absurd density that wishes nothing more than to destroy what patience you may have. Do not tackle chapters as you would ordinary chapters in an ordinary book. Tackle each chapter as a book unto itself. A foe to be vanquished, a period of life to leave behind. Seek to be master of this work. Seek to overcome. For in its design is the willpower, and the perseverance, and the strength of someone who sought meaning in struggle. As I discovered these in times of ultimate desperation, so I hope for you to discover these things. This novel is a love letter to your trials. May you overcome them. May you master them. May you become conquerer.- SeedSagaA literary epic for logophiles, philosophers, and poets alike. A journey into zeitgeist, the impact of media on culture, and the endurance of morality against an onslaught of hatred. These vague descriptions do little to compact Conquest's density into a bite-size summary. They do however relate the basest themes found within. A plot, if such can be surmised, is strung thinly across multiple perspectives, weaving together these concepts into a seemingly distorted tapestry of indecipherable events. Inspired by early 20th century modernism, Conquest will challenge the reader, and provide critique on the medium upon which all great stories are derived. Further interpretation is up to you now; an explorer among a sea of words. Venture on and discover what lies ahead, in...CONQUEST OF MORTEM
