《Garden of Thorns *Lit RPG*》Chapter 20: Quest Spire.

Joshua arrived at the Quest Spire's location, seems like there was a large number of D-Ranks on the outside. Joshua showed his pass, and they just let him through the gate alone.
WELCOME TO MELVORIS!
This is a land of high fantasy and magic!
Joshua then looked at his familiar list, this time seeing the four Ancients being present for him to call along with Ferno and Lugasa, but it may be better to invite Bayran since he is wise. The Ancine of Winter arrived, with a yawn.
"Oh, Lord. So this is Melvoris... And your first dive into a Quest Spire. Now these are fundamentally different. Think of them as doors to other worlds." Joshua paused for a moment as Joshua thought about it. Doors to other worlds... Does that mean what he thinks it means?
"When you say doors to other worlds, so these people are real? And we're just invaders?"Joshua's statement had Bayran pausing for a minute, this was a bizarre way to look at it.
"Now if you put it that way, it does sound evil. But it depends. Every Venerator gets different quests and different things happen." Bayran explained then watching a figure walking into view. The figure had four swords by the back of his hip and a cigarette.
The figure was clad in armor with the smoke off the cigarette being puffed out from his face.
Error. Error. The threat before you is strong.
IDENTIFIED
AVATAR OF DESTRUCTION
"Ah... Lucius's Avatar... I'm unsure of the name you use now." Bayran spoke to the figure.
"Hm... Ancient of White. So how is the Goddess of Seasons? Is she still pissed off?" The figure spoke casually to Bayran, Joshua could barely breathe, what was behind this armored figure was something sinister. It was worse compared to the Investigation Bureau. This was like Joshua felt that he was being strangled. Air refused to go into his lungs, his stamina dropped instantly.
"Avatar... Please, the Lord of Thorns is still not as strong." Bayran spoke with a weak voice, like he was choking as well. Gasping for air before this person.
"Sorry." The Avatar spoke, as he helped Joshua on his feet.
"The Goddess of Seasons is fine, though she still wonders if you truly have to destroy Melvoris?" Bayran asked.
"I have to, but not her Melvoris. The Melvoris that belongs to the dipshits in Olympus. This Melvoris it belongs to the Goddess of Seasons." The Avatar spoke, his long white hair sways to the wind and the glowing eyes were a sight to see.

"Seems like when I was destroying the heart of Melvoris, they sent me here." The Avatar spoke with a sigh, then looking at Joshua.
"Hey, mind doing me a favour? Oh Lord of Thorns?" Joshua raised his eyebrows, unsure of what it was that he was going to do. The Avatar of Destruction gave Joshua a weapon that was shattered.
"It's a good friend of mine, and seeing your face. You must've went through hell. Take care of him, I can't use him because he's dead to me but he can be yours." Joshua looked at the Avatar's face. The way he looked at this weapon, it was clear that he had a strong attachment to it.
Kael's Ice Reaper(damaged)
A scythe made of ice, the cold is present by its side and it can freeze anything in its path.
This scythe is a Living Weapon but currently it has been destroyed and needs time to be revived. It was a weapon that has an attachment to his previous owner, Kael and the previous owner's younger brother, Ren.
Ice Reaper, though is a weapon, it also behaves similarly to a familiar.
Attack Power 500 Sharpness Supreme Being.
"If I revived him, will you take him back?" The Avatar shook his head.
"I could but, I made a promise to that guy. That he wants to help people like me. People who've gone through hell and did not have a friend. He'll forget me when he wakes up. The promise I made with him is that when my time is up with him, and he goes first. He can't be my partner." The Avatar said.
"It says here, that you have a younger brother named Ren... If your brother ever comes here, I'll give Ice Reaper back to him." Joshua's suggestion had the Avatar nodding.
"Thanks. Take care of him, he's a good weapon. He protected my brother until he died. He'll serve you well. If you'll excuse me, I need to make sure the bastards pay for toying with him." The Avatar said, watching Bayran create a portal to allow the Avatar to step through.
"Now let us discuss about this world. Melvoris is a land where humans live in the medieval ages. Swords were the norm here and you should check what your quest requires you to do." Joshua checked the pop up.
Quest
To start your quest, you must first decide where you wish to go.

There are three factions.
The Aren Hide Kingdom(Pro Humans, Pro Killing or enslaving what else is not human)
The Nation of Sobis (Pro Non-Humans, Enslaves Humans)
Bahamut Empire ( Pro Freedom, Pro Freedoms. No slavery. All Equality)
Well Joshua was already thinking of which to align himself with but he turned to Bayran.
"Between the three, Bahamut Empire is a beautiful country with people who are like it. But they are disliked by Sobis and Aren Hide because of their nature and among the three it is the weakest faction on the list. They are also the least armed and give lower rewards."
"But they are living and existing people right?" Joshua asked where Bayran nodded.
"Yes, they are but to desensitize their deaths. It would make much more sense to have them believe that it is merely part of the system. Aren Hide and Sobis are constantly at war while Bahamut Empire chooses to not be affiliated with things. They fight defensively and as a result very few Venerators do it. Do not be surprised if they call you Heroes. That is the common word for Venerators, used by the people within the Quest Spires to refer to your kind." Bayran explained, then seeing Joshua pass Ice Reaper to Bayran.
"What can you tell me about this?" Joshua asked Bayran.
"This is a weapon that has followed the Avatar of Destruction for a long time. Loyal and kindness that is as dangerous as its name implies.Out of the many weapons used by the Avatar of Destruction, Ice Reaper has the best control. It may not be strongest but it does not necessarily fall out o of control from its user. As the Ancient of Winter, this weapon is something I can restore for you to use at this moment. Would you allow me to do so, Lord?"
"Will it harm Ice Reaper's mind?" Joshua asked.
"It will not. As I am the Ancient of Winter and Ice Reaper falls under the family of the ice elements. There will be no issues for me. Will you allow it?" Bayran asked, where Joshua gave a nod.
Bayran then turned into a handsome elderly man in a white suit. Holding Ice Reaper, where Bayran's eyes glowed white. Imbuing magic into it as the ice formed over the weapon. Changing from its white to its original pale blue. Then allowing the weapon to take its form.
Ice Reaper was a pale blue scythe being held by a blue skeleton in a cloak. Kneeling before Joshua.
"Ice Reaper?" Joshua greeted while offering his hand.
"Yes, Lord of Thorns... I was brought here by Master Kael wasn't I?" Joshua turned to Bayran who was a bit confused because the Avatar of Destruction said that he would forget his master when he woke up.
"Yes.. You were brought here by the Avatar of Destruction. I am surprised that you have your memories." Bayran said with surprise to Ice Reaper.
"Ancient of Winter, thank you. I suppose my promise with him is complete... I apolgozie, Lord of Thorns. If there comes a time when Ren comes to have me as his blade, I hope you will allow me to leave." Joshua nodded to Ice Reaper.
"Of course. When Ren returns for you, I will ensure you are at your strongest." Joshua promised the weapon.
"Then I shall serve you as I have done for the Avatar of Destruction." Ice Reaper stood up turning into a scythe, with ice collecting by the blade. Encasing the grass and the area in the ice.
"I, Ice Reaper. The Reaping Blade of Ice shall swear an oath of servitude to Joshua Gates until my other master, Ren Webster returns for me." Ice Reaper's voice echoed the entire area, turning the forest into a winter wonderland. Where the grounds were covered in solid ice. The trees, the entire forest was blanketed had been turned to solid blocks of ice.
Bayran then returned to his dragon form.
"It would be nice if I sleep here but humans would off course be bothered by my pressence. Why not head over to the Bahamut Empire?" Joshua nodded as he looked at Ice Reaper's stats.
Kael's Ice Reaper(Repaired)
A scythe made of ice, the cold is present by its side and it can freeze anything in its path.
This scythe is a LivingWeapon and has sworn an oath to the 13th Lord of Thorns, to be in the Lord's service until his master, Ren arrives.
Attack Power 5000 Sharpness Supreme Being.
The Avatar of Destruction was right, Ice Reaper is a strong weapon.

The Silver Mana - Book 1: Initiate
I used to be a healthy, young guy with a normal life - I had a career planned in professional soccer, a girlfriend, lots of hobbies, and loads of fun. Until the accident. Which changed my life. A few years later I had adjusted to my new reality, adjusted to being in a wheelchair, adjusted to having someone take care of me 24/7. And then the world changed. Old people and kids did not make it. And neither was I supposed to make it. But never count me out. If anything, I am tenacious. This new world was different. People could do magic. And there were monsters. And what about me? I had mana as well, silver mana. Which no one else seemed to have. The only problem was, I did not know what to do with it. Until I really needed to. Author's note: This is the rewrite of Silver Mana. The first bunch of chapters (until I will have caught up to level 2 of the dungeon) should be quite familiar to people that have read the original. There are some changes in content, but the story follows the original fairly closely for at least the first 150-200 pages. Most of the changes are in the writing, and some of the details of how things work. A few of the side characters get a bit more attention too. Some general comments to avoid disappointment: 1. The MC likes to swear. If you object to reading the word "fuck" at least once and usually multiple times each chapter don't read the book. "Fuck" is such a great, allencompassing word... fuck that; what the fuck?; fuck me! Fuck! one word, expressing so many nuances. And, frankly, the people I know that use fuck as a swear word.. they often use it a lot. 2. If you are looking for immediate progression, rapid advancement of the story, etc.... read another book. This one takes a bit. 3. I am NOT Pirateaba (who is writing The Wandering Inn) or anyone close to that level of productivity. If you expect to read 10k words every 3 days, or even just once a week... sorry. I've got a busy life. This is for fun, I have no patreon, paypal, anything, so I write when it is fun and however much is fun. Not more. And sometimes that turns out to be a decent amount, sometimes nothing. I have another book (Marrow) so that complicated things - basically I switch between the two whenever the muse strikes me.

Sunchasers
As Arthur opens his eyes, he finds himself in an unknown place, smack-dab in the middle of nowhere, without anything to help him survive save for a set of pyjamas and little knowledge of outdoors survival. Follow his steps as he tries to figure out where he is, and what will become of him. Sunchasers is a Fantasy novel with a sprinkle of lightweight sort of LitRPG (i.e. without Classes or Stats). While the first ten or so chapters of Book I are about Arthur's lonesome survival, the rest of the story focuses more on exploration and the protagonist will come in contact with other people quite often. The novel is being written in British English and using the metrics system. (I do not own the Cover) Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy this journey! I have a Discord Server, Join Here!

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.
