He heard a siren sing, he opened his eyes and saw the capsule half destroyed.
“Damn metal scrap!” he thought to himself.
He slowly picked up his legs and did a little climb to reach the exit.
He was in some sort of square, all made with blocks of stone and some flowers, artificial of course. The square gave view on the rest of the city, a bunch of skyscrapers, all of different colours. He realized something strange. He picked up the flowers and noticed that they served no other purpose but to make the lifeless square look a bit better.
He looked at the far skyscrapers and noticed that those two had some kind of colour pattern.
Looking up he saw a giant transparent glass roof, visible only on the points in which a capsule had broken it. Others capsules were entering the atmosphere and crushed down on some buildings. He activated his radio…
“Here is Delta 05 do you hear me?”
“Yes we hear you Delta 05” another voice replied
“There is this giant skyscraper here, do you see it?”
“Which one?”
“The one with a giant parable on top of it”
He looked at the skyscrapers and identify the building
“Do you see it?” Delta 05 asked
“Affirmative”
“Affirmative”
“Affermative” said Adam.
Walking toward the skyscrapers he noticed something quite strange for an AI build city, a garden. He didn’t enter it, of course, that would be a waste of precious time, but walking on those streets he can not notice how wasteful that AI was.
All those spaces devoted to squares, pools, fountains and garden that no one could ever use. The AI must be malfunctioning.
Upon walking he saw a side of a square, this one made with yellow bricks, that was destroyed, it was in that moment that he remembered that that planet was attacked by a war fleet not so long ago, yet the traces of this were far and few between.

He also noticed some strange crystals and glasses of various colours, this AI had something for glasses and colours it used them nearly at random, trying as many as they could together, giving birth to strange scenes were one square was fully red, another fully yellow and another fully blue.
Sudden he heard a noise, he immediately pulled back behind a pillar, he glanced at what it was. It was a robo-dog, not a war one, it didn’t even look armed, he looked playful. And it was barking at him. Having a pistol in his hand he abandoned cover and went closer to the dog. Still nothing. Now he was at around two meters from the dog and yet the dog was still playfully barking at him, like a puppy. The dog went away for a second and with lighting speed, he picked a stick and give it to him. He trowed it away, the dog returned with the stick in his mouth. “To all squads, don’t attack the dogs! I repeat don’t attack the dogs! Don’t atta-” the trasmission was suddenly interrupted “Beta 03 do you hear me?” a voice asked.
No replied came.
After trowing the stick with all his strength he returned to walk. He noticed that there was something strange in the air, it was...clear? He didn’t breath a air so clear since he was a child. He looked at the sky and noticed that it too was clear. What was going on? Had the computer turned ambientalist or was simply keeping his ambient clear? He couldn’t decide at the moment.
“Gamma 02” that was his number “I might see you, try raising your hand” he did so “I see you, I am on the third floor, the second window, of the tower south-west of you.

Looking at that place he saw a [glass relfecting]
“Why are you there?” Adam asked
“This is a great place for spotting enemies, I spotted three dogs and one strange robot taking care of the gardens and plants. I suggest you evitate that strange robot.”
“Affirmative, you will come with me?”
A little pause followed “I will follow you at a distance.”
He started again walking, upon a balcony like zone of one of the many squares, he could see a robot taking care of the plants.
“Gamma 04?”
“Stay calm, I have my rifle on him, try walking past him”
He walked very slowly and silently
“Noh-Need-FOR-Vio-Violence” that strange robot said in a strange human-like voice while flipping his head towards him “I-Iam-a-Pa-Pac-WarPacifist” he continued saying “I-I-only-care-gardens
“Gamma 02 do I have to shot him?”
He had a moment though
He decided to run away “Gamma 04 if he follows me shoot him”
But the robot didn’t and returned keeping care of the flowers
“Why the robots aren’t aggressive?” he asked on the radio “they aren’t?” a voice replied “mine aren’t.” a brief silence followed “to all squads don’t shot at the robots if they don’t provoke you.”
A gentle breeze arrived on his face “to all squads we received new orders, they said that we have to enter this ‘core’ structure and destroy the AI from there. The only problem is that the core structure is at...500 km from here.” Delta 05 said.
He walked a bit more before being interrupted again by the radio “do those robots have a...consciousness?”
“Negative, they just imitate some human behaviour, they aren’t enough advanced to have it.”
“One of the robots told me about the war fleet that arrived here.”
“He did what?”
“It was hard to understand but from what I understood some squads survived”
“Take that information with a bit of salt, remember that is only a gardener”
He continued to walk and noticed a strange green light on the horizon. It was coming toward them. Suddenly a massive beam, whose light blinded him was shot in the sky. That beam then became a strange snow-like substance that began falling from the sky. Adam started feeling a headache.
“To all squads? Do-Don’t br..eathe the-” the trasmission was interrupted half-way.
Adam quickly picked his backpack and tried to pick the mask. He grabbed it, applied to his face but before he could stroke it he collapsed.

Sara's (not really) Fabulous System Armageddon, Book I: The World Ended at Rush Hour
Planet Earth, Monday, October 7th, 2019. 18:30 * * On a fateful day, during rush hour in eastern North America, Heavens and Hell crumbled and fell from their higher dimension on Earth. It came from "above" but not the same above we regard in our tridimensional Euclidean reasoning. No, it came from "above" as in from a higher dimension. Bits and pieces of those places fell on Earth from all directions, this time in tridimensional Euclidean space. Satellites, the ISS, and space debris all were wiped clean from orbit. Even those that didn't crash with the falling debris were knocked off orbit by the shockwaves. On the ground, power distribution lines were disrupted and most power facilities were left abandoned by their dead staff. Most of these had emergency shutdown routines that engaged in a few days. Some others had a survivor among their staff that followed protocol and activated their SCRAM switches, stopping the power plant. Long-distance communication disappeared the internet along with it. The world was plunged into technological darkness. Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of every thousand human beings perished immediately in the pulse of magical energy from the torn spatial boundary. Spirits were rent asunder and vanished, their fate neither salvation nor damnation, only oblivion. The criteria used for this culling was latent magic potential. It didn't discriminate against education, gender, age, or ethnic group. But of the around seven million survivors, most would meet their doom moments later. Those on moving vehicles, like the ones driving on highways suddenly had to contend with high-speed uncontrolled cars and trucks driven by corpses. Trapped in their vehicles and helpless, they became part of the long snake of crushed metal. Very few survived. Those in the air or out in the sea were alone and probably unable to control their rides. Airplanes crashed, and ships kept their course or drifted away, depending on their autopilot. Several ended their own lives in utter despair after seeing their loved ones die in front of them. Another large group would die at the hands of other survivors. Violence and aggression became the norm. Only a few sparse pockets of not-so-sane survivors managed to band together and cooperate for the sake of mutual survival. The sole survivor in a five-over-one apartment building in Georgia, a girl became the keystone to humanity's survival. Sara's fabulous System Apocalypse had just started. She has only one remark. It was anything but fabulous. * * Updates every Wednesday and Sunday.
