《Travel Through The Lands》Chapter 16. New job!

Lief pushed the surprisingly light stone doors open and was surprised by the sight.
He had been expecting an expensive interior to match the outside, however, the inside looked almost exactly like a mead hall!
There were bundles of men and women sat at their tables chatting and drinking, above some of their heads was a [Party] word that was joined to some adventures by a white line.
To Lief's left and right were tables for Adventurers, however straight ahead housed a giant golden counter with several young men and women behind.
Lief guessed that that was where he would sign up so he walked up to it and looked at the young man in front of him.
[Adam]
Age 18
(Level 5)
(Receptionist Level 9)
"Goodmorning, would you like to place a request?" The young man asked with a slight smile.
"No, I would like to sign up to be an adventurer."
"Eh? You don't meet the basic requirements. Unless you would like to take the test please fulfil these requirements and come back." Adam sighed as he handed Lief a piece of paper.
-Adventurer Guild Requirements.
-Must be at least level 5.
-Must have a class selected OR be able to beat someone at his level who has a class.
-Must have a full set of armour.
After reading the paper, Lief helplessly sighed, said goodbye to Adam and left to find a temporary job.
Trying his luck Lief walked straight to the Inn he was staying at and asked if they needed staff but he was rejected with a casual "Nope".
He tried all the popular shops like the Jewelers, the Potion shop and many others but all of them seemed to be used to rejecting people and Lief got many "Nope's".
He then went on to the middle-class stores like the bakers and horse carriage rides, blacksmiths and a few tailors.

"Sorry sonny, I already have an apprentice working, I can't afford another one."
"Have you baked before? No? Why are you applying then, leave."
"Sorry pal, family run business we use our own horses and pay our own way, we haven't and won't hire anyone."
*Sigh*
At this rate, Lief may have to risk getting thrown out and beg...
However, it seemed that Lief wasn't forsaken to become a beggar.
"Young man, you're looking for a job right? If you don't mind getting your hands a little messy it's your lucky day."
The speaker was calling to Lief from a back ally, although he was in a suspicious location and advertised the job a little strangely it turned out that down the ally was actually a Butchers!
They buy farmers animals, slaughter animals and sell their meat for profit.
The man was 74 years old and explained that he was too old to do the work himself so he needed to hire someone young to do the work for him.
The pay was good,Lief would be assigned to pigs for every pig Lief butchered he would get 5 silver.
Lief decided he would take the job, he had to make money some way...

The first part of the quest was beyond simple, Lief just walked up to it and lifted it by its two back legs.
It struggled, flailing its body around in Leif's arms whilst squealing madly, however, Lief just hung it on a sturdy bar that was dangling from the ceiling and easily slit the pig's throat.
After doing so the pig squealed much more, it threw its body around trying to get loose. Doing so seemed to open its neck more and it splashed its blood around the room.
It took just moments for it to pass on.
Lief then cut down its belly and emptied its guts out into a bucket he had prepared earlier, and waited for the blood to drain before proceeding.
Several hours later, he used the Butchers Knife to cut the carcas of the pig down the middle, leaving the head on the right side since it wasn't specified.
There was a saw for bone, but Lief found it easy to cut through with the Butchers Knife. Probably due to his 200 Strength, after all, it's just a pig.
After placing the two halves onto two separate hooks, the hooks began to move and it carried them along into the next room.
[Quest - First Job] Completed.
+1,000 Job Experience.

"Killing pigs is pretty useful... If I butcher just 3 more I'll become level 2!" Lief happily giggled to himself.
Before Lief could go and find Desmond, a pig stumbled in through an old metal gate as if it were pushed.
'I guess I just keep going?'

Greg Veder vs The World
The average person can easily understand that when it comes to living in a villain-infested, crime-filled city like Brockton Bay, treating life like a game can get you killed. It's kind of ironic, then, that Greg Veder has always been far more serious about games than he ever has about life. (Worm/The Gamer AU)

Earth Exodus
Elliot isn't the first one taken, he was the last, or one of them at least. Careless divines, gods, or higher powers had been snatching humans through numerous means over the years. Those that returned brought minor tokens of their previous power if anything at all. Over time unrestrained magic became commonplace on earth. Which must have brought attention to us. The earth is ravaged by increasing levels of rogue magics, divines, and a war over resources and experience. Eventually resulting in a mass exodus of the remaining powerless humans by a coalition of gods. Now translocated to Vauthia where everyone has been given a path to power. They're met with an unfortunate reality. They've only been rescued from one dying world to be tasked with saving the new one. While at the same time they're apparently supposed to compete with one another. Meanwhile Elliot wasn't just given a path to power. He was given a choice. The opportunity for true power is offered. When as he reaches for it the power isn't all it's cracked up to be.Systemless in a world where everyone else has access to one Elliot must grapple with a multitude of problems from without and within. The 'gods' might actually be incompetent, uncaring, downright malicious, or all three. His power is constantly three steps behind those who chose the quick path to power. There's also the antisocial tendencies he's brought with him from earth. Can he trust the 'god' who seems to be taking him under their wing? Will he be able to catch up to his fellow earthlings who're ever increasing in power? Is it possible he may just break out of his shell along the way?*** What to expect ***The initial start will be quite slow, building the setting, history, and individuals involved. There is a small bit of progression in these early chapters for the MC, but more along the lines of figuring out how their systemless power works. though once the story gains traction it won't stop.*** Don't tell Elliot, but ***Elliot hates to admit it but he's very clearly antisocial. Not to mention troubles with thinking that stem from several un-diagnosed disorders he'd rather believe don't exist.*** Image Copyright *** //In this satellite image released by Copernicus Sentinel imagery, 2020 twitter page dated Dec. 31, 2019, shows wildfires burning across Australia.
