《Subjugation and Septicity》Strange Dreams III

--------Present Day--------

Henry arrived at work slightly early, as he usually did. So early in the day at the current time of the year, the temperature was far too low for his taste. Fortunately, the office was invitingly toasty in comparison, as expected.

He made his way up the floors to his level, grabbing a hot beverage on the way. But, as he was about to enter the door that separated Tech Support from the rest of the floor, the two way door swung out and knocked his hot beverage from his hand. A few droplets landed on his shoes, with the rest soaking into the carpet.

Noooooo! My hot beverage!

The culprit of the horrific tragedy, turned out to be none other than his least favourite co-worker, Simon. Simon, was a software engineer, but had until recently been in tech support with Henry, and had been a pain in the rear the entire time. He had always been passing problem callers into Henry's call queue, making it seem like Henry was a much slower worker than he actually was. Somehow, it seemed he had convinced somebody that he had knowledge of actual programming, which Henry knew to be a blatant lie. But, the real reason it bothered Henry so much, was the sizeable difference in pay between the two departments. Which Simon lauded over him at every opportunity.

“Morning Hen. You seen my new convertible in the car park this morning? Drives like a dream!”

Simon didn’t seem to have noticed the spilt beverage or more than likely, he just didn’t care.

"Simon. I have told you before, many times. My name is Henry. Not 'Hen’.'"

"Yea yea, my bad."

Simon was already walking away, giving Henry no time to say anything further.

Henry was quite sick of Simon’s boasting. There was always something new for him to brag about. A new watch, shoes, a suit, and now a fancy car. They were all top of the range items, according to Simon at least.

Maybe its time to introduce Simon’s shiny new car to my rusty old keys. Hmm, no, better not. It’d be too obvious if I did it now. Damn it.

He went to get a cloth to wipe up the spilt drink. Clean-up complete, he got another hot beverage from the dispenser on his level, and started his daily tasks. The day proceeded from there uneventfully, right up until about an hour after lunch.
