《A Blank Tale》Chapter 6 - Rebirth

There was chattering in the background, awakening me from my slumber. Are those my neighbors trying to disturb my final rest? I opened my eyes, and what I saw was very white, but familiar scene. I recognized at once that it was not my old apartment. I looked around, noticing doctors and nurses in the hallway and I looked at my familiar surroundings.

Then, I realized that this was the hospital that I woke up in after saving young master Ye years ago, but how am I here? Did old young master Ye come back, but that would be fantasy would it? However, my thoughts were cut off by the handsome man dressed in suit walking into my room. Even after a lifetime of not seeing his face, I still was able to recognize him at first glance. It was young master Ye, and by young master Ye, I mean young because the man standing in front of me was the young version of young master Ye. I stared in shock as my brain was not able to process what was going on. I was awoken when I was told that I would be hired as a housekeeper. Could this be ... the rumored rebirth?

Once again, I entered that familiar mansion where I was introduced to the entourage of maids who looked at me in disdain. Once again, I became the topic of gossip, but this time, I was no longer the target of venting. Instead, I was the target of envy due to my mastery in household chores as I performed them in a proficient style which even shocked young master Ye. I no longer had to pay homage to the other maid's attitudes as now they were the sincere ones that came up to me for advice, treating me as the experienced, old granny. This lasted until my plain looks returned once again years later, where they were pretty shocked about my change, and began addressing me as sister. By then, I had already gradually accepted the fact about my rebirth. I had not told anyone about it, not even young master Ye for it is as unbelievable as "Xiang He Ai" stealing my identity.

I still confided with young master Ye as before, now being able to solve most problems easily as I had already came up with solutions before. It was a matter of remembering rather than staying up all night thinking. Since I didn't have to learn how to perform household duties anymore due to being proficient with them, I spent my additional time picking up skills in marketing strategies, accounting, and watching the stock market, in hopes of being able to solve some of young master Ye's problems that I was not able to solve before.

Once again, I met "Xiang He Ai" and watched as young master Ye cherish her; however this time the monster in my heart no longer had wrath. Instead, the sour feeling was brewing throughout, but it was much easier to keep the monster behind a cage this time; however, I could not help but be nervous of what is to come.

Once again, that night came once more. After dressing young master Ye, I was commanded to go get the tie once again. Although I stared at young master Ye for any signs of abnormality, I was not able to glance any signals for what is to come. Once again, I headed to the fated 13th floor, slowly walking towards the spot of incidence. As I got closer to that fateful room 1394, my steps slowed as I nervously waited to see if events shall repeat itself.

This time, I was a bit further away from the door, hoping to get a clearer glance at him in hopes of understanding his thoughts. As the door suddenly opens one more, he steps out once again. I stared at his deep eyes as I hope to get a inkling of his reasons, but instead I was shocked by the familiar deep blue colors of his eyes. That familiar color of the eyes of my son. As I stood in shock, I was once again pulled into the darkness. Once again, that warm breath tickled my neck as he asked the life changing question, "Are you willing to bear my child?".

Once again, I had lost control of the monster inside me as I replied, "I'm Yours". My final thoughts before I blanked out were that since it already happened once, I should not alter fate and let it be.

Again I woke up to an empty feeling as he was not by my side once again. I dressed and placed my hand on my precious for courage. This time, I will bravely confront him, in hopes of getting an answer.

As usual, I went back to the mansion. Then, I went and knocked on young master Ye's room, requesting for a talk. He allowed me in, and sat down while staring at me waiting for me to confide with him. My heart lurched as I tried to ask the question, but I stuttered all along. He stared at me queerly and told me that if I'm not ready, I should come back next time. At that time, I knew that if I stepped out of this room, I would not be able to gather the courage to come back. So, I bowed my head and asked, "Do you remember what you did last night?"

It seemed that there were two eyes glaring at me from the distance, as I felt sweat crawling down my back. The moment of truth was here, and I was very much afraid of learning the answer. Not long after, young master Ye responded, "Last night? I announced my marriage with Xiang He Ai."

I slowly looked up as my hands shook and questioned, "Did anything else happen?"

Young master Ye looks back at me with queer eyes then as if he made a decision, he replied, "Nothing else happened."

Understanding what he is implying, my heart sunk as I can feel a searing pain in my eyes. The monster within me batters itself against the walls in grief. I quickly looked down once more and excused myself from the room. I returned to my room and once again I could not help but let those hot tears flow in contrast to my cold heart.

In my confusion and anger, a dangerous thought arose in me, "Should I kill the child?"
