《How I Slayed A Dragon》Chapter 47

(Oct 8)
I saw Sven today while I was on duty, I noticed Sven speaking to one of the city officers.
Sven had finished up his “unfinished business” or whatever and came to the city as he had promised.
I showed him around and introduced him to Briggs. After a bit, he went his own separate way to find a house and to settle in.
Besides meeting Sven again, the day was uneventful.
(Oct 9)
Tomorrow is Gabi’s birthday so I might get her a giant cheesecake because cheesecake is great.
Speaking of which, I need to get her a gift as well don’t I?
Hm.
What should I get…?
(Oct 10)
Today was Gabi’s birthday!
She turned 7 and my wife and I are deciding to send her to school.
Most kids start school at the age of 8 but Gabi wants to go to school early for some reason.
This morning, I went out and bought her a cheesecake and got her a box of magic crystals for her birthday gift.
Magic crystals brings back so many memories and nostalgia, I used to play with them so much as a kid.
Magic crystals are crystals that have the potential and capability to contain and store magical energy like chakra, mana and chi.
You can inject magic into any object, but the magic will slowly leave the object over time and how long it takes depends on the object, sort of like heat energy.
But magic stones can store and keep magic inside for a much long time, a good magic stone can last up to 100 years without losing any magic energy and can store more energy than lower quality ones.
They’re super handy and you can do a lot of things with them; using modern science, people have invented light bulbs, flashlights, batteries and other things like that by using magic stones as a major component to power them.
As a kid, I used to play with magic stones and make them light up by pouring my chakra into it and do cool tricks with them.
Not only are they quite cheap due to the fact they are common, but they are also super useful and while playing with them, you can train your ability to manipulate your inner energy as well.

So I got Gabi a box of E and F ranked magic crystals, I might show her some cool tricks someday.
My wife and I sung happy birthday to Gabi, and it was a jolly day.
We ate great food and cheesecake for dessert.
Gabi was extra giddy and energetic today and because of that, she must’ve used up all her energy and fell asleep early.
(Oct 12)
Tomorrows the training event that William told me about.
I did a little bit of self training today by working out and meditating as a little warmup for tomorrow.
I’m going to sleep early so I’m in the best condition for tomorrow.
(Oct 13)
Training day!
I’m wearing my favourite and most comfy t-shirt and shorts for training, I’m pumped!
.
When I arrived at the castle where I usually go for work, I saw a crowd of soldiers lined up and there were higher ranked officers ordering them around and telling them what to do.
It seemed like soldiers from our city and including some from different cities of our kingdom are participating in this training event.
There were a LOT of people.
Then Briggs suddenly came out of nowhere and slapped me on the back.
“Yo!”
Briggs informed me that since there were so many people participating in this training event, they had to split all the soldiers into multiple different groups and bring them to different locations.
We also couldn’t let everyone go out and train because that would leave the city defenceless to attacks from the Kenava kingdom, so this training event will go on for a week, alternating between different groups of who’s on guard and who’s training.
I was in group 9 and there were around 100 or so soldiers in my group.
Each group had an A ranker as their leader who will oversee their training and just command them in general.
I was hoping that Briggs, William or Cornelia, or heck I wouldn’t even mind Mona being my group leader, I just wanted someone I knew or was familiar with… but no.
My leader is someone I knew… well, someone I fought.

Remember the tournament a while ago?
In the group battles, I fought a certain female A ranked archer who shoots electric arrows…
The one that I fought and got knocked unconscious because she decided to attack with a massive thunderbolt even when the match was basically over…
Well, her name is Alisha and she’s my group leader for the next week of training.
Briggs was the organizer of this entire event, so he was busy and unable to become a group leader, Cornelia was too busy following Briggs (just confess already), William was doing research based on my results from the test a couple days ago and Mona wasn’t familiar with me and had no reason to want to train me.
That meant I was stuck with what I got.
It shouldn’t be much of a surprise if I said I didn’t like Alisha because during the tournament, she was rude and continued to attack me even when the match was over.
But I’m stuck with her and I’ll just make the most of it and train as hard as I can during this event.,
Who knows, maybe she doesn’t even remember me.
So once all the groups were decided, we all went our separate ways.
My group went out to a large field next to city and we did basic training, Alisha made us all swing swords and workout with each other.
A couple hours past, and people around me were getting tired.
For me, merely swinging a sword is easy now because I’m much stronger but most of the soldiers were only E – C ranked, and most B ranked soldiers were higher ranked officers.
Speaking of which, why am I still a foot soldier? I’m strong enough now to get a promotion to a guard commander or such but I’m still stuck as a mere soldier.
Well, I’ve been a soldier for over a decade, so I’m used to this job. William pays me good money, so I don’t even need to make more money, being a soldier is easy so I might just stay as one.
Everyone around me was tired and exhausted from swinging swords and getting scolded by Alisha for slacking off, while I was still energetic.
Lunch rolled around and we took a one-hour break.
I was about to eat my lunch, which my wife had made for me, when someone tapped on my shoulder.
It was Cornelia.
“You seem to be enjoying yourself Anthony. Is the training too easy for you?”
“Yea. I guess I’ve gotten too strong.”
“Too strong?”
Cornelia started to laugh.
“?”
“I like that attitude, confidence is good. Briggs suspected this would happen, so he made me come here and train you during the breaks.”
“Train me during the breaks? What about my lunch? So I don’t get to rest? What about my group? What training are you talking about? Why are you not with Briggs?”
“Whoa, one question at a time. Your current training is like a walk in the park for you, that itself is your break, but your real training will be with me.
And don’t misunderstand, I’m not training you because I want to. Briggs made me come here, if it weren’t for you, I would still be with Briggs right now.”
Cornelia glared at me but then let out a sigh.
I stood up and started following her to where she said we would train together.
Cornelia walked up to Alisha and told me that she would “borrow” me for an hour or so and would return me when they begin their training again.
Alisha stared at me weirdly and just nodded.
Cornelia told me that the training would start immediately, and suddenly she started running.
Without even giving me a moment to think, she wanted me to match her speed and follow her to the next location.
I was pretty confident in my speed but god damn, Cornelia is fast.
