《How I Slayed A Dragon》Chapter 25

(Aug 22 continued)
During the time I was being healed, a couple hours had passed and so a few battles were already over.
Apparently William and Cornelia fought as well, and William had won. The A ranked assassin vs A ranked earth mage ended with the earth mage's victory. The A ranked necromancer vs the B ranked spear user ended with the necromancers victory.
It was a shame I didn't get to watch the battles, but at least I didn't miss THIS CURRENT battle...
Briggs VS William, the match that everyone were all waiting for. The two strongest people in the entire kingdom, strong enough to take on an army. William had said before to me that Briggs was stronger but in a real battle, strength wasn't everything.
William was a lot smarter and skilled, while Briggs was strong so this is going to be super exciting.
Good thing I didn't miss this battle.
As Briggs entered the battlefield, and I realized he was using his greatsword instead of the greataxes this time. It seems he's going to be serious against William.
Then William entered the battlefield and he was wearing a blue robe and a golden staff.
The pressure the two of them gave off was insane, the swirling amounts of magic and chakra flowing through the air between them was so dense, it was slightly visible even to a normal person.
The referee nervously slowly raised his gun into the air and shot it commencing the battle to start.
The moment he did, all the magic that was in the air completely vanished and was condensed inside of both Briggs and William as they were now gathering their chakra and magic.
Briggs immediately charged forwards, with his back bent low and ran like a bear with one hand dragging his greatsword along the floor behind him, leaving a trail in the ground.

William also, surprisingly, charged forward as well but less barbarically then Briggs and with his staff in hand, he used a spell and then William completely vanished into thin air.
Obviously he didn't actually disappeared, but he had used his magic to distort the light around him to make it look as if he was invisible, and William then concealed and suppressed his magic powers to hide from Briggs, a frontal attack with Briggs would be suicide and William realized that.
William completely vanished without a trace, he became invisible and his magic and chakra was completely gone because of how well he concealed it. His stealth and concealment is on par with B ranked assassins who specialized in stealth.
Briggs looked around and couldn't find William, but to him that wasn't much of an issue. Briggs breathed inwards and let out a massive bear roar, similar to my dragon roar I did before, but his was much stronger and it was infused with his chakra causing the entire ground to shake while the air around him trembled.
This must've caused William to slightly reveal his magic power, just a tiny little bit, but with just a tiny slip up Briggs was able to pin point William's location. Briggs stabbed the ground with his great sword and then with an upward slash, he ripped out chunks and bits of the ground and sent them flying towards William like canon balls and bullets.
As the mud shots flew towards the still-invisible William, he manipulated the air around him by controlling the temperature to make the rocks and earth pieces to be affected by the wind and air to fly in other directions and totally missing him.
But Briggs now knew William's location and in a second he was already in front of William, Briggs was holding his greatsword with both of his hands behind him, and with a single swing, he lifted the greatsword from behind him and swung it back down right onto William in a semicircle arc cutting the air itself in half.

However, the attack didn't hit William.
William created a hyper condensed ice plate, which looked like it was made of diamond (it wasn't but because the ice was light blue and shiny, also super dense as well it looked like it was made of diamond) and blocked the attack.
Now, normally Brigg's attack would've been able to break through such a defense but William had tilted his ice plate to the right diagonally and when Brigg's greatsword struck the ice plate, his attack was thrown off course due to the angle at which the ice was tilted at.
This also caused the force of the attack to be altered slightly to the right by sliding off the ice plate as well and allowing William to blocked the attack.
William was able to calculate all this and perform it in a mere second it took for Briggs to reach him, such was the skill and talent of William, but Briggs was nothing to scoff at either.
Briggs removed his left hand off of his greatsword and launched an intense punch releasing his chakra in an instant launching his fist forward like a rocket.
William was able to make an ice armor defending himself in time, but William still flew backwards like a ragdoll and cracks appeared on his ice armor as well. Oh, and after he got punched and was sent flying back, he was no longer invisible.
Before William could crash into the wall, the air itself froze and created a soft layer of snow allowing William to land on it gently and regain balance without a single scratch.
William pushed his glasses up his nose again (oh no) and he (menacingly) tapped the ground with his staff.
The area which was tapped by his staff instead froze up and the ground itself turned into ice, and the ice spread through the ground as if it were contaminating the ground itself.
When the ice reached Briggs, Briggs raised his foot and stomped downwards cracking the ground and destroying the ground itself, however William's ice power was strange...
!!!
When Briggs smashed his stomped his foot into the ice ground, his leg started freezing up as well and the frost started spreading and crawling up his leg. Briggs immediately noticed and jumped back to area without ice and he released out his chakra like steam through his foot to melt the ice.
William's ice was no ordinary ice, it was like a poison... it spread fast and if it touches something, it won't merely freeze the object, it literally TURNS THE OBJECT INTO ICE.
Normally ice magic merely freezes the object and creates a layer of ice surrounding the object, but William's spreading ice thingy was literally TURNING the object into ice.
Briggs seemed to also understand vaguely what this ice was, I'm not sure if he knows about how it can turn things to actual ice but he sure does know that it's dangerous.
Briggs's chakra is curse chakra, his curse ability can curse the ice reversing it to it's original form and so that's how Briggs was able to melt the ice on his foot earlier but on such a wide area, he won't be able to melt that much ice with just his chakra.
The two of them stared at each other and tension was building up.
This is it; Briggs vs William.
Who will win?

The story of a man who accidentally wrote another world into existence. Everyone breaks away from their mundane daily life in one way or another. Our protagonist, an unfortunate consequence of circumstance, being no different, often escaped the harsh reality of life by writing stories of an alternate world of swords and magic. Though he recognized the difference between reality and fantasy, he could've never imagined what would happen, when the line between the two blurred as lightning struck down from the skies, and his escapism fantasy became all too real... After he came to, he would soon learn that things in the other world aren't quite as he remembered them to be. The world he wrote of had become but a shadow of its former self. Albeit hesitant at first, he sets off on a quest to find out the secrets behind the Trails, yet even then, he can't help but wonder... Can he really bring his world back to its old glory? —————————— I have never written a story before in my life and now I'm doing so in a language I don't natively speak. Groundbreaking quality is probably not something to be expected, but I do my best to keep things readable. With the necessities out of the way, both constructive criticism and other suggestions are very much welcome, and I'll do my best to take them into account when writing future chapters.

The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
