There should be an attendance list of some form with the Teacher. If I’m able to obtain that, It’ll make recognising each of my classmates easier. I would like to understand the class dynamics well, since this is where I’ll need to be for a good half of the day.

I continue to observe the students chatting as well as the ones coming in.

Suddenly, a short haired girl dressed neatly sits next to me. I turn around to glance at her before continuing to observe the class. She's rather plain looking as well, with some freckles on her face.

“Who are you?”, She suddenly asks.

Did I get exposed? How? I didn’t even do anything here yet, is it something to do with my magic? I don’t think there’ll be someone asking who the eldest son of the Qiu Duke was in class.

“I’m Qiu Xue.”, I curtly replied.

“Really. The old Qiu Xue would never look around methodically like this. You’re trying to observe for anything that may be helpful to you, I know those eyes, those aren’t his eyes.”, She answers plainly, while surveying the class with her eyes. She hasn’t looked at me since her initial question.

“I’m Qiu Xue, believe it or not.” It’s just the conjecture of a self-proclaimed genius, luckily. There’s no meaning in trying to defend myself, if I did, It’ll just make me seem more guilty.

“If you say so. I’m sorry for accusing you then. Tell you what, you won’t need this much but here’s the Class Register, might help in what you need. I’ve written down my name at the back if you need my help.”, She says as she passes a piece of paper to me.

Having done this, she picks up her bag and moves to the opposite end of the class. I continue looking through the class for another 5 minutes, feigning disinterest in the document. 5 minutes pass, and I look at the Register.

The Register conveniently has the name, picture and background of the student written on it. It’s not confidential information since it’s information everyone has access to. The boy I met eyes with was Qiu Long, a prodigy in magic, which is why he’s in the year-2 class even though he’s just 13 this year. He’s also, my brother.

My half-brother to be exact, the son of Father’s 2nd wife. He’s recorded in the register to be a Peak Rank 3 Apprentice, just a bit short of breaking into Rank 4. The teacher is keeping an eye on him, having highlighted his name.

The remaining people are more of less what I’ll expect, I would have had to care about much more people if my Family wasn’t so powerful, but it is. There’s only a few nobles I have to be careful with here.

I finish looking through it quickly, having memorised most of it. She did say she wrote down her name at the back, wonder who she is? I turn around the paper to find the words ‘1 Favour’ written on it.

I wouldn’t be so self-absorbed to think that she meant that she owed me a favour. She definitely didn’t buy that I was the real Qiu Xue, but she thinks there’s benefit in the current me, which is why she decided to give out some alms to me, the poor lost beggar.

Sigh, she’s going to be a hard one to deal with.
