《A Curious World》Chapter 6: The start of things to come

I’ve gotten some good information. In the end, I still need more money. It takes all I have just to buy a slave. I don’t even have 5 gold on me. I could use the money of my entourage to pay, but I’m not that keen on the slaves here in either case. They lack much resolve and most of them look sufficiently nourished, which shows that we run a good establishment here. However, the younger slaves when put in such an environment start to think that life here isn’t so bad, instead of seeking to go outside.
That’s why the slaves here haven’t tried calling out or appealing to get sold, they’re not sure about whether the new environment will be good, so it’s better of them to stay where they are currently. Older slaves desire freedom more, as they’ve experienced more of the world, and have likely been in the Slave House longer. Many of the younger kids have nowhere to go to even if they’re freed. From the looks of it, these young slaves have just been brought in not too long ago.
My ideal bodyguard would be one with the Assassin job. I will need the slave to be able to defend me primarily. I’m confident that my identity is more than enough to deter any known enemies. It’s the unknown ones that I’m the most wary of. It takes an Assassin to know an Assassin is where I’m going off here, they have a heightened sense of danger afterall.
It’s rare to find a young Assassin though, not everyone’s the main character of the manga who has a yellow blob teacher asking everyone to kill him, and later discovers that his real talent is in assassination. Seriously, how does a high school student have those kind of reflexes, that’s just a cheat. A cheat I say.

Back to reality, I mention my intentions on buying a slave to the dealer and swiftly exit. There’s no point in dawdling here.
Tomorrow’s my last day of absence before I return to school. I’ll need to take that time to improve my mental strength and physical strength, even by just a bit. This body is already tired from the short walk we’ve had. I don’t expect much, but even then, getting tired from just walking is just bad stamina.
When we returned, I instructed Leticia to find me in my room later at night.
*Knock knock*
“Young Master, it’s Leticia, may I enter?”
“Yes, please do.”
“Young Master, I’m here as requested, how may I be of assistance?”, She asks, seemingly less composed than usual.
It’s dark at night, and there’s only a single lamp in my room for lighting. I didn’t notice in the day, but she’s quite attractive. She has sharp facial features and beautiful oval eyes, coupled with her looking barely 18 is intoxicating for my 14 year old body. The moonlight accentuates the curves of her chest in the maid outfit, making her appear more mesmerising with each look.
I can’t say for sure, but my previous self might have had a fetish for maid outfits. I feel unease at being aroused so easily. I try to compose myself slowly.

The Individual's Kingdom
For centuries, Asundria knew the blessing of peace. But time is the great eroder of all things. History fades, vows are abandoned; forgotten. Self-proclaimed Emperor Amon Munitio ventured north, trailed by fire, widows, and the banner of a new nation. When he turned back south, he had won. The Core of a Factory
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago. This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core". Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.

Her Terrifying Love
While being chased by her abusive boyfriend, Lyla turns the tables, shoving him into the path of an oncoming car. But rather than calling the police, she and her friend, Jack bury the body deep in the woods. Instead of finishing her senior year in peace, Lyla is horrified to discover that her dead ex has returned for revenge. This genre-bending supernatural thriller weaves elements of murder mystery, romance, high school drama, humor, and, of course, a terrifying ghost story.(Excerpt from "Her Terrifying Love")Jack's chest heaved. "You said he was dead."Lyla inched closer and whispered, "He had no pulse!" "Maybe he was just stunned.""We carried him all that way," she said. "He wasn't breathing.""But maybe he woke up after we left him down there.""Woke up?! His neck was broken."Jack hung his head. He couldn't make sense of this."I know how this is gonna sound, but..." He choked on his words. "When I went to pick up my car from the body shop yesterday, he was standing across the street. Watching me.""Who was?!""Keenan. I swear to God.""No way," she asserted. "That's crazy talk. He's dead.""It was him." Jack nodded. "He had a frickin' giant tattoo on his neck." A shiver flashed down Lyla's spine. Jack confirmed what she'd been dreading. He'd been seeing the ghost, too.If you enjoyed "Her Terrifying Love," check out the sequel, "Dirty Secrets." https://www.wattpad.com/822348938-dirty-secrets-prologue
