We took a table for ourselves in the corner inside the tavern. It was pretty lively, even tho it was just past noon. Loads of people travel through this part of the region 24x7. It was one of the routes that connect the capital and the best place to set up a business.

The Tavern owner that attacked was also the head chef, which was a bit surprising. I didn’t take him for a guy that had cooking skills.

I hope he washed the knife after he attacked.

The tavern had some female waiters as well, which was also a plus point to increase more customers.

Even if the food would taste like shit; if you have cute female waiters to serve you, the tavern won’t run out of customers. Even though this dump of tavern needs repairs and cleaning, people somehow still come to eat here.

I don’t have a problem eating here, my body’s immune system has developed immensely. I used to eat from scrapes and dumpster before in the dark days. It was difficult to feed Rose and Armin as well as the school fees expense, but I somehow managed it.

Compared to those hardships the guardsman regiment was no sweat.

Suddenly a waitress came to our table.

“May I have your order, please!”, she asked in a friendly manner.

Any other men surely would have skipped a heartbeat, but I don’t want to succumb to such atrocious emotions.

Lust is an emotion that renders human beings to lose all of the types of senses and just let them think through their animal instincts instead of the usual brain.

“I would like to order a big jug of finest brew ale and some spicy roasted peanuts!”, ordered our Captain Ms. Arnia and she looked at us, “You guys order to your heart's content as the owner said himself. I hope this tavern goes bankrupt and shut down for all I care-”

Thalia quickly covered her mouth,

“Don’t mind her! You guys place your order.”, she wittily grasped the situation and gagged our captain.

The captain was murmuring something angrily, but her words were concealed thanks to Thalia's rigid grip that covered the captain’s mouth.

It looks like Captain was still annoyed over the Tavern owner.

If we let Captain blabbering again, the owner would surely wreck, havoc and the whole tavern might go down.

I don’t want to create another commotion like before.

Also, this was a golden opportunity to eat for free to your fill, which I don't wanna miss.

It seemed like William and Bruno had a hard time deciding, what to order as they glanced around the tavern.

This place was filled with filth and dirt. It smelled of booze, food, and sweat from the traveling customers.

I guess they were from a noble house, so they were having a hard time.

But I don’t care!

“Excuse me!”, I said, “Roasted Onions & Cream Cod along with Simmered Cinnamon & Thyme pork, whole. Also, some cranberry wine with less concentrated alcohol if you can.”

Bruno and William were taken aback.

It seemed that I surprised them by ordering food out of the bat.

I am a heavy eater, although I don’t usually eat at such quantity. I conserve as money as I could, but at such an event, I go all out.

To break the awkward attention that I was receiving,

“Oi! You guys gonna order something or what?” I asked the other three.

Bruno thought for some time then answered,

“An orange juice!"

The waiter had an irritable smile,

“Umm, we don’t serve fruit juices.”

I guess he took so long to think, just to order a juice in a bar?

Suddenly a cockroach appeared underneath from the table and crawled on the wall upwards to the ceiling.

Bruno just froze by seeing that.

“What is that thing doing in an eatery place?”, asked Bruno as he pointed at the cockroach.

The waiter girl just glanced at the cockroach,

“Oh this!” suddenly there was this loud thump and squish noise, “Don’t mind it! So please place your order, I got more customer’s waiting.”

She just squashed that bug with her bare hands and just waved away to clear away the remains of the roach.

William and Bruno both froze in utter shock. Thalia was also a bit disgusted.

For some reason, they remained silent.

The waiter’s mood was worsening by every passing second. Her patience seemed to be running out.

I guess I have to take a stance,

“Excuse me, order 3 beef sandwiches for them. That’s all, thank you.”, I ordered their stead.

The waiter noted down our order and left.

William whispered in a lower tone,

“This place is utter garbage. How do you except master to consume such repugnant food?!”

“Aren't you guys undercover trying to imitate being a commoner? This is what it means to be a commoner. So suck it up.”, I responded.

Bruno was still in shock as he stared at the squashed remains of the cockroach on the wall.

“Oi, Thalia you are choking our captain.” I reminded Thalia.

Thalia was still holding on our captain's mouth that it seemed as if she passed out.

“Oops. My bad!”, apologized Thalia.
