[Enemy encountered...
Slime.]
*Huff huff*
'I really hope I haven't gone insane because what I'm thinking will definitely take me to a mental hospital.'
*Slush slush*
The semitransparent green blob continued forward taking no heed to the young man before him , until it got five meters away from him that is.
*Slush slush...
As the slime was five meters from the young man it just increased it's speed and rushed forward.
"Shit... run."
The speed of the slime was nothing compared to that of a humans, but from the looks of it it could cross 5 meters in 3 seconds .
*Tap tap tap tap tap*
The tunnel once again rang with the sound of footsteps, but this time they sounded rapidly as of someone was running for his life.
.....
After running for about 30 seconds our chicken of a protagonist stopped to take a breath.
"Haa haaa haaa haaa huuu...
Shit, that scared the hell out out me. Why the hell did it have to suddenly speed up at that time?"
After caching his breath he looked at his hand and to the phones screen.
' There is something new.'
[Processing...
You have fled the fight with the opponent: Slime..
Because you have fled the fight a time limit will be imposed.
Time: 120/120 min .
Result of incompletion: Assimilation.]
"F*uck this was really what I needed. Why don't kneecap me while you're at it huh?
Come on, do it!"
*Silence*
The young man shouted his complaints at nothing and nothing answered him.
' Am I really insane?
A slime appeared in from of me and even attacked me so...
He looked at the timer with worry.
"Calm, I have to stay calm. The slimes rush startled me , but it's nothing to be afraid of. His speed was nothing compared to me running with half my effort so I can escape at any time.

It also seems that I'm on a time limit."
[Time: 119/120]
' I guess that this means that there in no more time to fool around. If my memory serves me right then I have to kill five slimes and that is within two hours.
Shit!
It's been so long since I had felt the blood rushing on my veins.
It's such a strange refreshing feeling to have in this situation.'
After getting himself together he once again turned towards the direction of the slime.
"Now then, let's kill some slimes."
....
*Slush slush*
"I see youuu...
Come to papa."
*Slush slush*
The slime didn't understand what he said and just continued forward.
' Distance is about 8 meters. The speed of movements is consistent.
1 2 3.'
"Eat this , you moving pudding."
*Whosh* *Bam*
He arched his back and with all his strength threw a rock he had found on the ground towards the slime.
*Wobble wobble*
The slime was hit by the rock and stopped to wobble a little.
' It seems that the attack worked, but there doesn't seem to have been wounded.'
*Ting*
The phone made a sound .
'It seems that there has been some new information , but now is not the time to get distracted.'
"Let's go again.
1 2 3 ..
*Whosh* *Bam*
"Striiiike two."
*Whosh* *Bam*
"Striiiike three...
Striiiike four...
five..
*Jigglee jigglee*
The slime was hit multiple times by the rocks he threw but it still held it's shape and seemed to be okay. The slimes speed was reduced as after it was hit by a rock it would take some seconds to recover enough to move again.
*Whosh*
*Bam*
'This is it. This is how I'll be able to beat him. I'll just have to repeatedly hit it with the rocks I found and I'll be okay, but there is a problem.
How long will it take?'
*Bam*
The slime was hit for the seventh time and something changed.
"F*ck....
I forgot it could accelerate when it came close enough."
The slime was moving more than twice it's original speed , but it was not enough.
' See you later alligator.
I won't be long."
*Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap*
Instead of fighting the slime head on he retreated again, but this time with a plan in mind.
After he was more than 50 meters from the slime he stopped to catch his breath and check his phone.
'Lets see what has happened.'
[Slime detected...
You attacked...
Slime:
Hp -1
Hp -1
Hp -1
Hp -1....
' It shows my fight with the slime?
Those -1 Hp should be the damage I caused to it each time I hit it with a rock, but how much Hp does the slime have?'
*Shiver*
'I hope it doesn't have more than 100 Hp because it's better I give up. '
*Slush slush*
The sound of the slime was heard again.
"It seems like I can't afford to rest.
I'm coming!"
.....
*Whosh* *Bam*
The stone hit the slime again and again and again.
' What number was it again?
23 or 24?"
*Whosh* *Bam*
*Ping*
"Huh?"
After hitting the slime for the twenty something time he stopped.
"It stopped moving?
Is it dead?"
As he said that the body of the slime lost its shape and just spread all over the stone floor.
"Yeah it's dead , but to be sure...
He checked his phone.
[Slime defeated...
+ 5 xp..
+ 1 gold....]
'Xp, Gold? It seems that the game is like a typical dungeon attack. If you defeat a monster you gain XP, Gold and other items, but XP an Gold are the bread and butter of it.'
"Good, I passed my first hurdle."

Breakers
My name is Joo In-gong. The name that my parents gave me meant ‘protagonist’ of the world. As anyone can predict, I was constantly teased due to my name. In kindergarten, elementary school, middle school and high school. If I went to university as planned then I would probably be laughed at there as well. So, at one point, I really hated my name. But not anymore. Now, I think slightly differently. Maybe being named Joo In-gong was a type of foreshadowing?

The story of Larin the Builder in the aftermath of Awakening This short story is the epilogue of Awakening, the first book of the Chronicles of Mother's Gate series. This epilogue is a great follow-up to the novel, a bonus story that adds extra layers between books without being necessary to the main storyline.Waking Up follows the story of Larin, who is alive but unconscious after her ordeal in the Nine Hells. She awakens in A'lara City a few days later and recuperates under the steadfast care of her repentant friend Jorn.As she reacclimates to her waking state, Larin struggles with her gruesome memories of the Hells and her decision to conceal them from Jorn. This story answers the question, Is Larin all right? with a resounding yes, and some storms on the horizon. It also raises the question, What happened to her down there? and includes an excerpt from the sister story Falling Down, about Larin's ordeal in the Nine Hells. Praise for Waking Up and Falling Down: Loved it. The difference between the two stories is great! The difference between Waking Up and Falling Down is astounding. So much light and love in the first story. You feel safe reading it. Healing. The second, so much darkness, pain and despair. The choice of vocabulary is awesome and makes an impact. And this set of short stories ties the two books together so well.-- Dana V. of Texas ★★★★★
