《Child of Terra》Chapter 18- Home Again

"I do not appreciate the use of our son as bait, Ageless," growled Sarah as the trio embarked away from Sakura's complex. The pair were sitting across from one another with her cradling a sleeping Nox in the left crook of her arm. Whereas the other was sitting with his arms crossed, and a right crossed over the other.
"Believe my person when I say this, Sarah, it was not my intention to put him in harm's way," his voice, smooth and deep, slowly explained, "We already had a decoy set up for that one to take advantage of, but instead found out where our child was hidden away."
"How did they find out?" her own eyes widened at this revelation, "I thought no one was to know where we went. I even randomised the system's algorithms in order to reduce any sort of tracing of our passing."
To this the Kitsune before her grinned a sour grin, as he continued, "Apparently the Lord of Lies and Misery was much stronger than originally thought possible, and was able to take control of Command for a short time. This has been dealt with, by the way, and will not cause any more issues."
"Really, Ageless?" she sighed heavily, gently brushing the head of their child slowly. Of which caused Nox to squirm a little and placed his forepaws over his muzzle and head as he continued sleeping. This caused the parents to smile softly at the adorable scene, but soon ended as the Goddess continued with, "I've been telling you to update or remove the old system of Command for centuries now. Why won't you do so? It would mean more protection for our Pantheon, and the people within.
"Sarah," the God King bent forward slowly, "We have spoken of this already. The old system, although outdated, has not steered us wrong. If you can recall one century of cycles ago, before I left to meet with my new brothers, someone tried to take over by way of introducing a virus to Command?"
To which she grimaced at the thought, as someone unknown had tried to join their Pantheon of millions, but were barred from entry due to some circumstances she was not made aware of. However, this one them tried to take over by introducing Command to a virus which causes the system to recognise the uploader as the master of the Pantheon. Unfortunately, the system was almost a millennia old at that point, and simply shut down due to the stress.

This led to the Ageless needing to step in, even though he was preparing for his journey to the centre of the universe, and take care of the problem. For the uploader was able to enter their home at a whim, and was destroyed the moment the God King found the intruder. No. The destruction of one's self by way of he did not mean that they were simply destroyed, but that they were simply erased from the annuls of the Universe itself.
"Therefore," he continued softly, leaning back in order to rest his back against the cushion he did not feel, "I will not expose our Command to such dangers. Not when our old system is far less vulnerable than those that created a newer system."
"Will you at least consider it, Ageless?" Her eyes sparkled with hope, as she turned her own gaze into a "Puppy-Dog Stare". Of which he flinched, as it was unexpected, and only nodded his assent. "Yay!"
This single exclamation caused the young hybrid to awaken, and stretched his little limbs as his small maw opened wide, revealing a single top and bottom row of needle-like teeth. "Hi Mama," he mewed softly, rubbing his eyes slowly so that he may see the world around him. Of which led to his gaze falling upon the endarkened furred Kitsune across from their persons.
To which he squirmed out of her soft grip, and leapt into the lap of the other whilst exclaiming with wide eyes full of joy, "Papa!" This led to the pair hugging one another with different degrees of strength. The child with as strong a grip as he could muster, and the other with a gentle, but firm embrace. "I missed you Papa," he mewed softly, his tails wagging so quickly that his hind end wiggled just as much.
"I missed you, too, Nox," replied the other, expressing as much warmth and love for the other before that which was within all Undead stole it away, leaving him hollow and empty inside, "Are you ready to go home?" This was asked as the pair were pulled apart until they were only a few centimetres from their noses touching.
"Yep," exclaimed the child, who closed his eyes as he shouted this, then proceeded to hug his father's muzzle.

"Weee!" exclaimed Nox as he was tossed five metres into the air within Sarah's personal gardens, whilst the Ageless proceeded to cast a Float spell upon his son's body before catching him once more. "Again, again," he laughed happily whilst his father merely grinned and tossed once more, much to the dismay of Sarah. For although their child was safe in his hands, she could not help, but feel a slight twinge in her chest each and every time this occurred.
In the meantime, she was currently lounging in a lawn chair whilst the other two were having their fun, sipping a cup of tea that was the colour of silver. This drink was called "Dance Beneath The Moonlight", and was a mint tea that was created by a few Desert Kitsunes who desired something that wasn't as spicy as the rest of their foods. Therefore, they came up with this by utilising the various mint herbs that were actually their weeds upon Sol'Anon, and was later refined by the God King and one of his hobby shops.
No. There was no silver added to the mixture, for the herbs themselves created the colour when water and enhancing flavours were added to make the mint flavour stand out more. Of which caused the tea to be used as a way to awaken if one is drowsy due to lack of, or too much, sleep. In her case, she simply drank it due to the fact that she enjoyed the feeling of freshness in her mouth.
There was also several other benefits to drinking such a thing, as she soon found out during her pregnancy with Nox. Such as the fact that it eased any and all of her pains, as well as calming her emotional imbalances to normal. Of which, once it became apparent that this drink was the helper, did she make it known to all potential mothers that the tea, "Dance Beneath The Moonlight", helped with their problems during such times.
Yes. Of course they were all skeptical, but with the proclamation coming from the Queen of the Gods and Goddesses herself, many did take heed and found that such a drink worked. Therefore, the distribution of the tea did skyrocket, until it became common throughout the multitude of worlds.
In the meantime, the Ageless did return after a time with the child in the other's arms. Of whom loosely clung to his father's chest due to being tired from the enjoyment of being tossed high into the air, and floating down into his father's arms. Whereupon Nox did wave at his mother with a weakened arm as his tails swayed slowly from side to side in an effort to express his glee.
"Hi Mama," he mewed softly with great tiredness, "Papa threw me high. Did you see?" This last part was exaggerated by way of his arms slowly circling outwards, his body leaning forward as he did so. Afterward, did his body collapse back upon the furred chest of his father, where his muzzle did nuzzle against it.
"Yes, Nox, I did," Sarah strained a smile up at his person, which flickered into a glower towards the Ageless for, but a brief moment, "You really shouldn't be up that high, Nox. You could hurt yourself."
"No, I couldn't, Mama," grumbled the hybrid as he turned his attention towards the Wolfwoman, "Papa said that all children cannot be harmed by any means." Which was true, as he was not only an Ageless and a Lord of Chaos, but also the primary God of Children and Families.
Quite the contradiction, to be sure, but in any case, he had placed within the system a program which would preserve the lives of children until they reached an age of ten cycles. Afterwards, and until they become the age of fifteen cycles, the protections are reduced somewhat so that it only covers major afflictions to their mental, emotional, and physical health. Which is followed by the degradations of such a thing up until their eighteenth cycle. Whereupon it dissolves fully, exposing their persons to the wilds of every world within the Pantheon.
In any case, the Goddess simply sighed at this exclamation, and pat her son's head. Of whom lightly grappled the clawed fingers, which caused her to smile softly as she was drawn closer to her husband. Of whom wrapped one of his nine tails around her own whilst their son nibbled upon her hand with drooping eyes.
