“One more…There’s only one more left…One last trial before I become…A Dragon Lord.” The young man spoke to himself as he sits down, resting after a hard fought battle.

In a distance, a humongous creature was laid down with its mouth wide open and its eyes, whitened. Its scaly body and its claws were swimming in its own blood. Its tail was nothing but sliced up meat. On the top of its head, a peerless great sword was struck deep down inside its skull. They once ruled the entire world together with other of its kinds.

This horrendous creature was known to be gods among men. Humans lived in terror of this nefarious vile creature. Some of their species were known to be greedy as they hoard an uncountable amount of treasure. Many tried to steal it but none were able to make it out alive. They would be slaved or better yet, killed off and become their lunch or dinner. This creature is what we all now call, Dragons.

They ruled the world. Everything they see and touch belongs to them. They fight and compete just like us but they will show no mercy in the eyes of its victims. Years have passed by until one day, when the dragons least expects it. A human being has finally killed one of them. It was a long and arduous task. It was the first glimpse of hope that mankind would survive. As time went on, the numbers of dragons has been reduced day by day to the point that it went into hiding forever and became a myth, a living legend.

As the humans celebrated the defeat of the Dragons, they too still have the fear of whether this creature would return anytime soon. But after years of development from the human race, the humans have come to a single solution that could indefinitely make the human stood above the Dragons. The solution is to control them. And by controlling them will allow the humans to stomp down what they’ve believed to be gods.

In order for the humans to control a dragon, one must fully understands what it is to become a dragon itself. They must be one with the dragon. They must become a dragon themselves. But the only possible way at that time was through a medium. It is a medium that would become a tool that the humans call today as a magic artifact. This magic artifact is called, The Dragon Amulet. The Dragon Amulet allows its holder, the ability to speak in the language of the Dragons, unceremoniously understanding them. It will also ultimately allow its holder to achieve their ultimate destiny of becoming a Dragon Lord. This in turn, will allow them to control the dragon. That is how a human can control a dragon.

Obtaining a Dragon Amulet requires a multitude of arduous task. One of it happens to be slaying a dragon. But a dragon does not simply allow itself to be slain by a mere human. Only a capable few that was able to slay a dragon. They are called, Dragon Slayers. Slaying a dragon and extracts its core that is well hidden deep inside the dragon, The Dragon’s Heart. Once a Dragon Slayer acquired the heart, the heart will need to be thrown off into the pits of lava of Deathbones Mountain. The volcano was named based on the amounts of dragon’s death by the hands of past Dragon Slayers of the old time. The bones of the dragons can still be seen until one day, it all vanished as the earth swallows it underground as time went on and becoming fossils.

“Almost there…just a few more step…” The man did his best to scale the deathly mountain while still carrying the enormous Dragon’s Heart along with his great sword on his back.

Once anyone with a Dragon’s Heart had dropped it into the molten pits of lava at the top of the mountain, The Dragon Amulet will soon be made after the disruption that was made by the heart. A terrifying explosion will happen and the sky will change from blue to grey. Smoke begins to rustle along with the explosion. As the smokes and explosion settles down, there stood floating in mid-air way in the center of the mountain’s crater, The Dragon Amulet. One must find a way to grab onto the floating Dragon Amulet in order for them to successfully achieve this arduous task.

Such example can be seen from this one person. He used magic to create an energy rope and casted it to the amulet. In such a simple manner, he has successfully obtained The Dragon Amulet. One more task remains before he will be able to become a Dragon Lord.

All he needs to do is to capture a dragon and use the amulet to control it. But the first step to this task is the hardest step of them all. It is to find a dragon. The young Dragon Lord candidate seeks out every nook and cranny to find a dragon that befits him to be under his orders.

“Have you got it?” The Dragon Lord candidate spoke to a cape clad bald guy who was sitting next to him on a bench in an unknown town.

The bald guy replied, “I got it, yes. But are you sure about this? This could be dangerous…it’s not like any other that you have slain before.”

“And that is why I must make it mine. Getting a dragon that is above other of its kind. That is the perfect dragon that I’ve been looking for.”

The bald man laughs and said, “Very well. It’s your death wish. You can do whatever you want with your own life.”

“Then I’ll be off…” The candidate stood up. “Let’s hope we meet again.”

“You better come back in one piece. You still have that academy’s offer, right?” the bald guy asked him.

“You mean, Infinity Academy? Yes, I’m going to become one of the head of department in that academy. They’ve been requesting me to begin work since last month. I won’t disappoint them.”

“Then may fortune favors you.”

“To you as well, partner.”

As they parted ways, the bald guy walked back home on his own by going through an alleyway that he never went before. There, his body slowly transformed to have animal-like features. What is the reason behind all of this remains a mystery as of now. But a mystery won’t remain a mystery because it has already been recorded and written down. Only time will tell when the time is right to mention about this furry creature.

Meanwhile, back at the Dragon Lord candidate. He was last seen making his way to the caverns of crystals. It was believed that a dragon was hoarding all of these crystals. It was one of the rare dragons that doesn’t eat humans or any other living beings. It only eats these crystals that it has kept for a very long time. This place belongs to an elder dragon. A dragon class that is way beyond any other of its kind. They have lived way longer than any other dragon. This one specific dragon is called, Taloncryst. It is named after its talon that was made out of the hardest crystal known to creation.

This is the dragon that the candidate has chosen. This is the dragon that will soon be his. This is the dragon that he will later on collide with. As he ventures deeper into the cavern, the scent of a dragon started to pick up. The Dragon Lord candidate was getting closer to his target. After walking past over a corridor…Taloncryst lies there, sleeping with its treasure.

After observing, the candidate founded out that Taloncryst not only have the infamous crystal talon, some of it scales were also made out of crystal. However, it wasn’t everywhere. It was only at certain part of its scale. Which means that the candidate have to keep an eye on where he should land his attack if the dragon ever comes to fight him at all. Otherwise, they could just talk it out with the help of The Dragon Amulet. But to an Elder Dragon, even without the amulet, allows itself to understand other creature because of how long its age and how much knowledge it had obtained for the course of history compared to other dragons.

The Dragon Lord candidate carefully walked towards the dragon as it was still sleeping. But fate had other things to do and decided that it was best to allow the candidate to accidentally trip over a single chunk of amethyst. The tripping noise woke up the legendary beast. It has finally awakened from its slumber. It flapped its wings and opens its jaws as wide as possible, stretching up after those months of sleeping. A normal dragon sleep can be as short as a single week to years. But to an elder dragon, mere months of sleep is considered only a short nap.

“Who dares interrupt my beautiful nap? Introduce yourself, human!”

The candidate trembled but continues to stood tall and exclaimed, “It is I, A Dragon Lord candidate, known by friends and citizens as, Vatherion.”

This is the tale of a Dragon Lord who stood between the hands of fate. This is the beginning of the falling of a feared Dragon Slayer. This is the account of the rise of a champion. This is the start of chaos. This is the story of The Chaos Dragon Lord, Vatherion and how he captures the elder dragon, Taloncryst, his steed.
