《Stardust Universe》Chapter 1.14 - White - A Challenger Approaches!

As the countdown begin for my fight against the other player, I talked a bit with them in the meantime.
“I didn’t know there would be anyone else playing this game through the dimensional network.” I started.
The other player laughed, “Me too. I didn’t expect anyone would be able to do this but Deus said there would be someone and look what I found today.”
“Deus?”
“Oh it’s nothing. He’s just my friend.” The other player shrugged it off.
I looked at the player name and tried to say it to them and see what their reaction is.
“Alpha, huh? That’s actually a nice username you got there.”
Alpha laughed a bit and said, “Really? Well in my place that name is pretty common. Not just in videogames.”
“Wow really? I didn’t know there would be a world where people would be using usernames as their real names.” I was a bit amazed.
“Time’s up…uh…Omega. Let’s see how strong are you in this game.”
Omega. That’s the username I go for when I started this game. Quite coincidentally, I’m facing an opponent that goes by the name Alpha. It’s one of those cool fighting title that we somehow ended up seeing in a lot of fighting events. Alpha VS Omega. The Beginning and The End.
Once the countdown has been finished, I punch through the buttons on the controller immediately. I decided to go for the initiative and receive the first strike bonus. I also have to be careful not to get hit by him or else he will be able to steal that bonus.
A quick block and then a counter attack was all I need to get the first strike bonus. Now the true battle has begun as I try to lock down my opponent into a combo. It didn’t take too long until I end up capturing him into one of my character's 10-hit combo.
“You’re pretty good.” Alpha complimented my skill.
After I finished the combo, Alpha immediately countered back with a surprise support attack from behind. I managed to block it but apparently that was just a distraction. Alpha was charging up an unblockable attack that I end up receiving, dealing almost a quarter of my fighter’s health.
“You’re pretty good as well, Alpha.” I complimented his skill.
“Why thank you, I’ve been training for a while.”
“That’s good and all…but can you do THIS?!”
I went for a quick hit which Alpha tried to block but that was just a feign as I immediately changed my target and sweep him down to the floor. As he was about to touch the floor, I went in for another combo. This kind of combo I like to call it as a juggling combo. I have to maintain both my character’s and my opponent position in order to keep hitting my enemy as they continued to stagger in the air.

His health was almost on the red, I went in for the kill but Alpha seems to be preparing for something so I cancelled my attack as soon as I noticed something was wrong. I waited and waited and Alpha did nothing at all.
“Hey dude, what’s up?” I asked Alpha
“Just kill me please. I really suck at this game.” Alpha already raised his white flag.
“Um…okay?” Then I finish the first round with a quick strike on Alpha’s character.
What about the second round? It was a perfect finish. My health bar wasn’t even touched and I even did a Finishing Finish to Alpha. Looks like my opponent wasn’t that strong. I thought I was fighting a renowned player in their own world.
“I thought you would be stronger, Alpha.”
“Well…I kind of just started playing this game today…it’s been…2 hours.”
“What?” I was surprised, “You’ve only started this game 2 hours ago? Then this fight isn’t really helping me in anything isn’t it?”
“What do you mean, Omega?”
“Look, I’m about to fight someone who people dubs her as The Queen in this game. She’s currently taking over my home but if I defeat her in a battle, I would be granted to talk to her about that matter.”
Alpha scratches his head and said, “Wait. Talk? I thought she would just clean up and leave.”
“I know. It sounds like a lose-lose situation don’t you think?”
“Yeah I can kind of see that.”
We bonded a bit through the ordeal. I didn’t know who he was but we had some fun even though it was a one sided battle thanks to the difference in skill between both of us.
“So what’s up with you, Alpha?”
“Me? Well, I’m just trying to clear this game so I can get a move on from this game.”
“Wait. You’re going to switch to a different game after clearing this one?”
“Exactly. I need to clear every game that my buddy, Deus recommends me. Doing so, will help my buddy a lot in developing an even better game and also it will help him regain back his true self.”
“Wow, looks like you have a lot of things to be done, Alpha.” I only understood half of it. But I didn’t want to make him sad, so I just continued to play along.
“Well in any case, I got to go now. I’ve been playing this for far too long and I need some rest.”
“I think I should as well.”
As the both of us were about to log off, Alpha called me.

“Hey, Omega! I’ll be seeing you again. Hopefully not on the opponent side. Oh and one more thing, I think you are already ready to face that Queen. Good luck with that.”
“Hey, thanks a lot buddy. See you around!” I waved at him as I logged out of the game.
After hearing those words from him, I think I have enough training. I talked to Yumiko and said I was ready. Blanc was happy to find out I was ready. The three of us got out of The Training Ball and returned back to my room.
It’s already two hours after midnight. These people haven't gone to sleep yet? What the heck were they? Zombies? Demons? Goodness I hope they aren’t demons because I have had enough of demons. Not after facing that horrible seven months of horrifying mess back in high school.
“Are you really ready, White?” Blanc asked me.
“Don’t worry, Blanc. I am ready, willing and able.”
Yumiko laughed, “Oh how wonderful. I can’t wait to see the look of defeat from either of you. Because at the end of the day, one of you two is going to be the loser here. This is a good thing for me.”
“I thought you were on my side, Yumiko.”
“I was never on your side to begin with. I’m just a third party. A mere observer. I only spiced up the event by including you into the fray.”
“Including me…? Wait…don’t tell me…”
Yumiko chuckled and said, “Yes indeed. I’ve planned this for a long time already. I started out by talking a lot about you to Sam. Even though I kind of hated her but I still had to go through the plan. Once she got you on her sight, my next plan is simply encourage her to do this stupid event.”
“It…it was you all along?” I fell down on my knees. “Unbelievable.”
“And so, once again, Cyclone White has fallen into another one of Yumiko Iliana Pavlova’s wicked plan.” Blanc suddenly decided to narrate on what was happening.
“This isn’t funny, Blanc.”
“It is. Now shut up and let me finish my narration.” I was shot down by Blanc. She then continued her narration, “With this, Cyclone White has fallen onto his knees. Having the despair creeping all over his body. All of his blood, sweat, and tears were wasted on this useless matter. Here lies, Cyclone White’s hopes and dream…”
“Blood? What are you talking about? And I didn’t know that you two were friends.”
Yumiko giggled, “Well, I was hoping that I get to see Sam’s defeat but apparently seeing you like this is enough for me. Oh well, I’ll be seeing myself off now. Ta ta for now.” Yumiko went back to her room.
Blanc looked at me in a funny way, “Oh come on, I wasn’t really involved in this. I was just having fun. We’re not really friends yet. We’re more like…fast friends.”
“What’s the difference, Blanc.” I was too tired to respond.
“Jeez. Come on get up; let’s go back in your room.” Blanc brought me back to my room.
I sat down on my bed, still feeling tired and pissed.
“Cheer up, White. It’s not like it’s the end of the world, right?”
“It probably is. It’s hurting my head every single time I hear those people started to cheer.”
Blanc sighed, “If that is all you wanted then you should have just asked me about it.”
“What?”
“Here.” Blanc gave me something that she brought out from her Dimensional Bag.
It was the size of my palm and it was circle. I didn’t know what it was. It looked like a device to stray off mosquitos or something.
“That thing is a Mute Machine. It’s used to block off all sound in a room. I bought this from an online store and the owner happens to be someone you know, Cyclone Silver.”
“Wait…my eldest sister? Why didn’t I know about this?”
Blanc shrugged, “I thought you knew.”
“I know she sell stuffs online but I didn’t know she would promote something like this.”
“Well…” she activated the machine and then her mouth begins to move but I was unable to hear anything at all.
“What’s that?”
She turned the machine off and said, “I said, it’s over now. You can relax.”
“Why didn’t you give me this earlier? I would be able to focus on something else instead of that training you know…”
“Well…” Blanc started squirm around, “I just want to have a little fun.” She laughed at me.
“That’s it. I’m done.” I took the Mute Machine and turned it on.
She continues to laugh at me as I tried to go to sleep. Well, that was a waste of my time.
