《A Typical Xianxia》Chapter 7: Twins

Li Daozi sat on a public bench inside the Sect and looked at the sky. It was night. Looking at the faint silhouette of a young woman in a distance, he let out a sigh. “How long did you plan to make me wait? And why did you come? Where is she?”
The young woman chuckled. “You aren’t qualified.”
He didn’t get angry. With a neutral face, he said. “Oh? I guess I should not embarrass myself anymore then. Farewell!” Turning around, he walked away without a care for the world.
*Swish*
He was caught off-guard by a sudden punch at his back. Crashing at a distance of a few meters, blood dripped from the corners of his mouth. His ribs broke and didn’t have the power to get up but his eyes were filled with anything but panic.
Seeing his miserable condition, the young woman smiled. “You have to work on that attitude of yours.” She then took out a small chest from her spatial bag and threw it in the ground.
Li Daozi looked at the chest. “I have received her gifts. Give my thanks to her.”
The young woman kept smiling, then took out a blue-colored pill and tossed it into his mouth.
A warm string of energy flooded over his body. After a few seconds, he got up and stared quietly at the young woman with a faint smile. He naturally wasn’t that good of a character to forgive her but he really didn’t have any means to defeat her. Not to mention, he didn’t mind these sorts of defeats. In fact, it was beneficial for him in the long run. He walked to the chest and was about to pick it up when the young woman started speaking.
“Are you sure you don’t want to check the contents?” Completing speaking, she started giggling non-stop.
His eyes squinted. Taking a deep look at her, he opened the chest cautiously. “Oh?”
There was a green cloth covering the insides. He grabbed the green cloth and threw it aside. “Huh?”
“Like what you see?”
He took a deep breath. “Is this some kind of unfunny joke?”
“My, why don’t you take a guess?” She sat on the bench and smiled without any intentions to explain.
Li Daozi looked at her nonchalantly. “My small brain can’t formulate any guesses at the moment. Although it is a pity, I think it would be better for me to return the wonderful gift. I appreciate her kind intentions though.”

Her smile vanished. She inspected his face properly and was inwardly startled. “Looks like you aren’t too dumb. Yes yes, they are your properties. Now, hurry up and take them.”
He didn’t respond. He was merely playing with words earlier. Thanks to her overthinking and delusional thoughts, he got to know the truth but it doesn’t mean that he accepted the truth. Bending his knee, he took another look at the insides of the chest.
There were two less than half-metre long babies covered in black cloth sleeping. One has dark green hair. The other has bright red hair. Both looked identical. Li Daozi’s mind was thoroughly shaken. His eyes revealed infinite coldness before eventually returning to its normal state. He again stared at the young woman in silence. He didn’t need to ask any more questions as he had already guessed the situation.
“When did it happen?”
The young woman thought for a while, then answered. “It was approximately a month ago.”
“Right. It was weird that she was with her family for almost a whole year. Turns out it's like that.” He nodded.
Taking the two kids in his arms, he walked towards his hut without wasting a single word.
…
Li Hanying gulped down the cold tea. His face was twisted and his eyes were shaking heavily. Looking at the twin sleeping peacefully in his cousin’s bed, he let out a mouthful of air. He then looked at his cousin who now looked somehow unfamiliar to him. “So you’re telling me that you banged a girl from the Sect and a month ago, they were born. Also, you had no idea that you became a father until a maid from her family brought the kids in a fucking chest and threw it to you!? Does that sound real even for a fucking second?”
Li Daozi smiled wryly. “Calm down. There’s nothing I can do. She has a huge background.”
Li Hanying slapped the table. “Do we look that weak!? This is a goddamn humiliation to you and our Li Family!” Picturing the incident, he got even more angry.
Seeing him so agitated, Li Daozi became quite amused. Why do people here always take things on a personal level?
He smiled and tapped his shoulder. “This can be discussed later. I called you here to help me take care of them. The Outer Sect Examinations is in two days. I don’t have enough time to take them to the family. I can only keep them here for the time being. I heard that you have experience in babysitting your little sister.”

Li Hanying let out an unpleasant groan. “I can help you in one condition.”
“Hm? What is it?”
“Teach me cultivation someday. I don’t want to die early.” He said in a serious tone.
Li Daozi faintly smiled and spoke without any hesitation. “Agreed!”
*Knock*
“It’s open. Come in.” Li Daozi smiled looking towards the door, already guessing the unknown visitor.
A blonde-haired girl of about the same age as them entered. It was Li Wenqing.
She stared at the two of them and blinked. "Is something the matter?" As she looked around, her eyes stopped briefly at the sight of the two kids sleeping in bed. With a confused face, she again looked at both of her cousins expecting an explanation.
Li Daozi was about to explain the situation when Li Hanying pulled his hands indicating him to not speak and watched her with an amused look. "What do you think?"
Li Wenqing was taken aback by the response. After thinking for a while, she decided to take part in the guessing game. She looked closely at two kids, then turned to Li Daozi and smiled mischievously. "Don't tell me those two are your kids?"
Li Hanying was at a loss of words. He didn't reply. Previously he had the urge to startle her and thought that they could then discuss the magnitude of the matter but who knew that she had such an abnormal IQ.
Li Wenqing felt uneasy because of the sudden silence in the room and a bad premonition bode over her mind.
"They are my kids." Li Daozi smiled wryly.
“...”
For a few seconds, she stood there in a daze, then her eyes went round and started breathing heavily. Then, as if she realised something, she stomped her foot. “You also know how to joke!”
Li Daozi and Li Hanying looked at each other weirdly. Li Hanying took a deep breath and stepped forward. “Sis Qing. They uh… really are Daozi’s offspring.”
Li Wenqing’s body trembled. “For real?”
Li Daozi: “For real.”
“What… how!?”
Li Daozi felt a headache coming. Looking at Hanying, he gestured to him to explain the matter. The latter frowned not wanting to accept the task but eventually gave in and started explaining.
After a few minutes, Li Wenqing looked at the two kids and sighed. "You should have taken some measures…"
To that, Li Daozi could only awkwardly smile. His libido got the better of him.
"Forget it. I'll send a letter notifying Uncle on this matter. Till the family sends some men over, keep them here. I'll arrange some maids."
Li Daozi nodded in agreement.
After chatting for some time, Li Daozi sent them back.
He looked at the two innocent kids sleeping soundly and sighed. Suddenly, a thought entered his mind. “Let me just check their latent talent.”
He caught their wrists and entered some qi into their body. “Hm… the qi flow is undisturbed. Mediocre talent at most- wait, what is this…” All of a sudden, a black sphere came in contact with his qi. Feeling something is wrong, he quickly started retracting his qi. Unfortunately, the black sphere still came in contact with his qi.
BAAM!
He flew back with an astonishing speed colliding with the walls. “What a discovery… hehe.” Although he was injured, he had a delightful smile on his face.
He got up not minding his injuries and took a good look at them. Looking at their chubby faces and light breathing, all of a sudden, he felt that they were extremely cute. “Even though I have no idea what that thing is, I somehow know what it does. If I can get the two spheres, not only would my latent talent rise astronomically but also my cultivation would be unrivalled in the entire eleven domains. This is a godsend opportunity. But I’m afraid it isn’t simple…”
Organizing his thoughts, his face turned grave. “There are two methods. First. I can keep them by my side and absorb the sphere slowly using a unique method. It would take around 30 years to absorb both the spheres completely. The second method is much simpler. I can just kill them right now and take control of both the spheres.” His dark dead eyes lit up and stared at the two of them for a long time.
Eventually, he shook his head and lied down in the bed beside them, his eyes showing unnatural frustration. I can’t use the second method for the time being. Not only would I be scorned and targeted by the Sect, I’ll also lose my only source of protection, that is, my family. I have to look for a way to ‘accidentally’ kill them.

I Need Time
An action, adventure, mystery and strategy story about a strong male lead. Author note: First time author, good amount of buffer chapters (over 50k words) so I will not drop this book anytime soon. This book will mostly be from the perspective of the MC. On average +5k words will be published per week. I have not chosen some of the genres and tags as I do not wish to give away parts of the story. I added the content warning tags as there will come a time for profanities, gore and maybe "traumatising" content. Though, in my opinion the content will be mild if not light. *****SPOILER*****SPOILER***** Synopsis: A college ICT student transmigrates to another world filled with magic and learns magic from a dragon. MC uses modern knowledge to develop magitech technology. MC starts his adventure using the technology he develops! Saving princesses, fighting hidden criminal organizations, learning how horribly medieval peasants live, reasoning with uneducated narrow minded people, investigating the nature of magic and searching for gods... Story review: A fantasy/sci-fi story filled with some common cliches yet presents somewhat original ideas and a few unexpected twists & turns here and there. This novel also explores a few of the commonly ignored topics concerning medieval fantasy like hygiene, culture, education(ignorance, narrow mindedness) and the fact that everybody is short because magical crops cost too much. Modern knowledge in such a setting can often times revolutionize the world if the protagonist is not an idiot or weak willed or thinks something stupid like he should not intervene in a society that systematically practices unequality of opportunity, slavery and other nasty things, of course sometimes the protagonist can be just unlucky by being enslaved, etc. In our case we are granted a protagonist who had an initial stroke of luck, learning magic from a dragon instead of struggling for years without it or randomly dieing. After that his luck goes down the drain. It is arguable whether the princess is a good stroke of luck or not, I digress. Anyway the challenges the protagonist must face will grow and no more luck or helping hands. After gaining enough power and security the protagonist will change the world for the better or at least give it a stronge push onto the right track. He will make a lot of lives better but things are never so simple and there is much more to this world than meets the eye... Missing genres & tags: Fantasy, Sci-fi, Magic. *****SPOILER*****SPOILER*****
