The sound of a mechanical beep resounded inside his head, and the quest board on the right-hand corner soon updated.
Quest Board
Story Quest: Search for the cure for the Village Chief's Grandson's high fever (Incomplete)
Details: The village chief's own grandson has suddenly felt ill, bedridden in bed for who knows how long, encountering an unexpectedly high fever. He is barely hanging around on death's doors. The village chief is in desperate need of help, and fortunately found you, who was willing to help. He requires a medicinal herb that specifically grows on the backside hilltop mountain outside of Xiawu Village.
Rewards: 1200 exp + Innovative breathing technique manual
'Hmmm...' Juewang Guan thought so to himself, as he starts to enquire about the quest details and specific information on the given mission. "So how am I supposed to know what kind of medicinal herb to look, and what the specific type of medicinal herb you wanted supposed to look like."
Juewang Guan himself asked a very reasonable question, as most players would undoubtedly just go blindly up the hilltop mountain backside, and plucked a random medicinal herb to go and hand it in to the village chief appraisal for the completion of the story quest. And the chances of you obtaining the correct medicinal herb that fulfils the mission criteria is one out of twenty-seven. This is because of the variety of different wild plants and herbs grown in the hilltop mountain.
The inbreeding of wild plants, crossed with magical herbs, would undoubtedly give rise to a variety of plant series. Some inheriting the traits and features of its parent plant, similar to the wildlife in real life.
"I see." The village chief said.
He then nods his head in agreement, contemplating, agreeing with Juewang Guan recent statement. "You're right. Let me go inside and get you something that will help you memorised what the medicinal herb that I want, looks like." The village chief then proceeded to head inside of his house, looking a bit haggard, seems to be because of his old age and constantly worrying all the time.
The village chief then exits the house and brought out with him an old parchment paper book. The traditional old Chinese style dark blue-covered book, written in black inks with small printed blocks. The title of the book was 'Herbology Vol. 1'.

With that said, the village chief then proceeded to hand the book of herbology volume 1 over towards Juewang Guan. Not before saying what page in the book to turn, that gave the detailed descriptions and drawn picture of the particular medicinal herb plant that the village chief wants, in order to cure his own grandchild's high fever sickness.
"Then turned to page 247 in the book of herbology volume 1 to find the vibrant green mint leaf plant. The vibrant green mint leaf plant is the cure to my grandson's high fever sickness." The village chief gave simple enough instructions to Juewang Guan so that he can complete his task.
"I've got it." Juewang Guan then answered back with a simple confirmation.
Ding!
System Notification You have obtained the [Quest Item: Book of Herbology Vol.1]!
With the task already handed out to him by the village chief, he then proceeded to head towards the village gates, located on the east side of Xiawu Village, on the exact opposite side of the village chief's house.
Juewang Guan easily walked passed the village guards, who were just two grown-up adult males, whose profession were mainly hunters, lumberjack, or blacksmiths. So their bodies are naturally a bit more toned, well built, and muscular than the average ordinary villager in the village.
In order to defend the village from outside potential threats and hostile enemies, like bandits and stray wild animals. They are allowed to carry weapons, armed themselves with typical normal weapons like axes, bows, and ordinary swords.
The type of swords that these village guards most commonly used are called dao swords, made from ordinary steel or bronze, and recycled old rusted metal farm tools. The dao swords are typically single-edged Chinese swords, primarily used for either chopping or slashing. The most common form of dao swords is pretty widely known by the world as sabres. A type of sword that has a curved edge. Although those with a much wider and straight blade edge are often referred to as broadswords.
The village guards eyed Juewang Guan's figure for a sec, finding nothing out of the ordinary, before returning back to guard duty.
They were chatting amongst themselves with one another, in order to pass the time, until it was time to switch shifts with another village guard awaiting in line. They do this in a relatively routine basis in order not to tire each out. Allowing them time to rest in between, and some leisure time to spend freely with their families and friends.

Juewang Guan then exits the Xiawu village gates on his own and began to slowly make his way around the village walls towards the hilltop mountain, outside of Xiawu Village.
It took Juewang Guan roughly around half an hour to walk from the village gates towards the tip of the hilltop mountain.
'Walking for over half an hour has already started to tired me out.' Juewang Guan thought so to himself, as he could instinctively feel the burning heat and pain generated from within his leg muscles, contracting, each time he took a step forwards.
'It has been a long time since I've last been outside, having stayed cooped inside for so long.' Juewang Guan exclaims, 'Maybe I should start training in real life, doing some slight exercises to get my body well into shape.' He thought so to himself.
After reaching the tip of the hilltop mountain, hiking through trees and forest vegetation. Juewang Guan finally took a short break, as he himself sat on a conveniently placed large stone boulder.
Juewang Guan then quickly brought out the book of herbology volume 1 that the village chief gave him as a quest item. Opening the blue silk cloth-covered book cover, and turning towards the first entry within the herbology dictionary. It detailed the entry of a wild herbal plant, commonly found in most forests of the great Pangu continent, called a violet stinging nettle.
'The violet stinging nettle is a common wild herb that grows in abundance throughout the great Pangu continent. Whilst, its outer appearance greatly resembles that of an ordinary stinging nettle commonly found in the wild. However, there is an obvious great distinction between the two, as the outer rim of its stinging nettle leaves contains a tinged of a violet hue. It has a semi-paralysis effect when ingested into the body, but can also be used as an anaesthetic drug when made into medicine.' Juewang Guan began to read the detailed entry, descriptions about the violet stinging nettle, written within the book of herbology volume 1.
'I didn't expect that this book contains such detailed information written about herbal plants. Is this book perhaps written by an experienced doctor, or was it based on real-life medicine practice in real life?' Juewang Guan assumed, based on how detailed the description of the violet stinging nettle was depicted within the books of herbology volume 1.
Ding!
A mechanical beep resounded inside of Juewang Guan's head, and a blue notification screen then pops up appearing in front of him.
System Notification You have enquired into the path of medicine through reading the [Quest Item: Book of Herbology Volume 1] given by the village chief. The prerequisite skill [Basic Herbology Knowledge Lv1] has been acquired.
"Oh..." Juewang Guan uttered out, with an amusing smirk look on his face.
'To think that I would be able to obtain a skill this easily by just reading through a simple book. Though the acquired skill is a passive type of skill that gauges the accumulated knowledge of a particular subject, so it is easy to acquired skill proficiency and levelling up the skill through reading, rather than practical excerises in order to level up combat related skills.' Juewang Guan inferred and deduced based on his knowledge of modern gaming.
Skimming through the pages of the book of herbology volume 1 until he finds whatever he was looking for. Turning to page 247 in the book of herbology volume 1, clearly instructed by the village chief, he then finds the entry on the vibrant green mint leaf herbal plant in the book.
'Page 247... the vibrant green mint leaves herbal plant.' Juewang Guan gave a short internal monologue, as he began to read the detailed entry of the vibrant green mint leaves herbal plant in the book.
'The vibrant green mint leaves herbal plant was originally a species of wild mints that is found uncommonly in the wild, but from unforeseen circumstances, it has unexpectedly crossbred with the genome of another herb, presumably a magical herb, which reinforces and strengthen its healing medicinal properties...' Juewang Guan read the vibrant green mint leaves herbal plant entry loudly inside of his head.

More importantly, will he ever get to finish his hibernation!? note: while I ticked the boxes for sexual/traumatizing content, I mostly did that to keep my options open. I don't currently have any planned, nor do I expect it to be a significant part of the story. After all, the main character is literally a dragon.
