《Demise of the Gods》Chapter 6: New Prisoner

2 weeks felt like that of 2 years, at the end of that 2 week period waiting for Rex the boy felt as if he had significantly aged.
Now that he thought about it, his once body looked nothing like it was before he entered the well, his once gleaming physique was slowly drifting away and his muscles were atrophying.
His body was a shadow of its former self, it was due to the lack of food and the minuscule amount of water he was receiving.
He never really complained about the amount of food he had received to Rex because at one point in his life he endured days without food, so this never really affected his state of mind that much.
With Rex gone, he began to think about the food he would eat when he came out of the well and being able to see his family again. It took him awhile to see it, but Cornelius's family was his own, he had always felt like an outsider amongst them, but when he thought about it deeply, he realized that they were his family and the thought of that kept him going.
Damn, I really am dumb, If only I had noticed it earlier hahahaha
Deep down in his mind, he was desperately searching for the family he never had but to his amusement, it was always there right in front of him. Aside from Cornelius's family, Rex was the closest thing he could consider to be family and the thought of him gone made the boy sad.
He laid there on the ground staring at the sky midday and before he even realized it, Rex was there standing above, towering over him like that of a mountain.
"Ahhh, I see you're back," the boy said, deep down he was happy, but his face gave no hints of it as he put on a serious demeanor.
"Wayyy, I thought you would've been happier to see me but I guess I was wrong" Rex responded laughing.
"So how was business?" the boy asked
"I got through with what I had to do, so everything will be okay now" Rex responded with a calm demeanor averting his eyes from the boy.
"Ah, that's good to hear" the boy responded.
"So what did you do, whilst I was gone?" Rex asked
"Are you kidding me, what can I do hahahaha" the boy said laughing whilst shaking his arms with the shackles.
"Hahahaha, I don't even know why I asked that question" Rex responded chuckling.
Things went silent after Rex said those words and the man could be seen pondering something deep in thought.
"I'm sorry, but I gotta leave now, sorry now that I think about it, there's something I need to do, tomorrow we'll talk," Rex said running off.

"Wh-" Rex was gone and it made no sense for the boy to even finish speaking.
The boy spent the remainder of his day looking up at the sky, it was dead silent but the sound of birds chirping could be heard from a distance, it was oddly soothing and the day passed by and before he knew it he was staring at the starry sky in the night. It was time to sleep and another day was over.
*Clank Clank
He could hear something like chains being knocked into the wall, but he thought he was just hearing things and paid no heed and didn't bother to even open his eyes to see what was happening.
"Yo man, you good?" a mysterious voice asked
I could've sworn I just heard someone speak.
He kept his eyes shut thinking he was just hearing things, he was the only person in the well.
"Are you ignoring me dumbass?" the mysterious voice asked
What the fuck?
"Who the fuck just called me a dumbass?" the boy got up with his fists readied prepared to fight.
"It's good to see you were taking a beauty nap and all," the voice said mockingly
"Rex?" the boy asked
There he was, shackled on the opposite wall in the well just like the boy.
"It took you awhile to realize" Rex responded
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE?" the boy asked shouting at the man, losing his composure
"Calm down, I'm right in front of you, you know, no need to shout, seems we're roommates now buddy," the man said laughing
The boy took a second to get his thoughts in order and slapped himself in the face to ensure he wasn't dreaming.
"Explain," the boy said, regaining his composure
"I ain't really in the mood, I'll explain it in the morning, lets just go to sleep" the man said as he began to lay on the ground and sleep
"So you woke me up, to basically tell me to go back to sleep, you stupid motherfucker" the boy was angry at the man for waking him up.
Rex didn't respond and it seemed as if he had fallen asleep. That was impressive, in less than a minute this man had fallen asleep.
It's not as if he's going anywhere, I'll hear him out in the morning.
The boy went to sleep that night with a feeling of unease.
That night passed in the blink of an eye.
When the boy awoke he saw Rex across the room, with his back against the wall staring at the sky.
"Time to talk Rex" the boy said

"Ah, you're awake, yea, guess it's that time" the man responded.
"So what happened?" the boy asked.
"To summarize what happened yesterday, basically, I got drunk, went into the pit in the middle of a fight, broke all the barriers and threatened to kill Ikko and then I begged for mercy after I realized what I had done" the man responded laughing
"You're kidding right?" the boy asked with a serious look on his face.
"If only......hahaha" Rex responded
"You broke the barrier? I thought you could only was healing magic" the boy inquired
"The fuck, you thought wrong bitch, that's slightly insulting to yours truly, it's my fault, after all, I didn't tell you before but still, to assume that's all I could do........but I'll forgive you for it, after all, I am an angelikós tier mage" the man responded
"Angelikós tier mage?" the boy asked
"Oh yea, I never taught you about magic tiers, depending on your capacity as a mage, you're placed into different tiers which determine your strength as a mage, simply to put, it goes like this in order of ranking vasikós, thnitós, ktínos, téras, angelikós and finally theós tier being the highest" Rex stated
"And you're angelikós?" the boy inquired with a look of disbelief on his face
"Yea" Rex stated
"Hahahaha, who're you trying to fool" the boy said grinning
"I'm not kidding" Rex responded with a serious expression
"So that means you can leave here anytime you want right?" the boy inquired
"No, you've never noticed it since you can't use magic, but these shackles are made of a metal called apokroustikos which stops magic from entering the body and being stored as mana, so right now I'm incapable of using any form of magic" Rex responded calmly
"Seems we really are roommates then"
"Looks so"
"So how long are you supposed to stay here?"
"I don't know, I fell asleep at the most important part of the conversation with Ikko hahaha"
"I thought I was dumb, but you're in a whole other class"
"Maybe.....hahaha"
The atmosphere went silent soon after and they both just stared at the sky until two new guards came and provided them with food.
It was the same food as usual, a small piece of bread, a piece of dried fish and some water.
Rex finished his food in an instant while the boy was still eating his piece of bread when he heard Rex's stomach growling.
"You still hungry?" the boy asked
"Yea, this is the first time I've eaten this little amount of food before" Rex responded
"You can have my piece of fish, I can make do with the bread alone," the boy said throwing the piece of fish at Rex.
"Ah, thanks," Rex said with a look of gratitude on his face.
They finished eating shortly after and put the empty bowls which were filled with water into a leather basket which the guards pulled up shortly after.
As the day went by, Rex began to experience the temperatures of the well and he wasn't able to cope properly, up until now, the life he had lived was one where he had gotten everything he wanted and had never dealt with a situation life this.
It didn't stop Rex though, he still kept telling tales of his adventures to the boy as a way to pass time and began describing monsters to inform him if he ever went traveling.
The day passed by quickly as both men spoke to each other.
Rex spent the night miserably, the boy could hear him twisting and turning and his stomach growling from across the room.
Days and months passed by and Rex grew a newfound respect for the boy for living through these conditions for months, if it was him, he would've taken up the offer to escape the well and leave.
Every day the boy would only eat a piece of bread and drink the water he was given, he would give Rex the piece of fish so that the man would not suffer as much from starvation although the boy was suffering from starvation himself.
In the months that passed by, the boy gained great theoretical knowledge about magic and the world from Rex.
The bond they had before deepened and they became best friends and they considered each other to be brothers.
It was a new day and there was something new to be learned from Rex as usual.
"Today, I'll teach you about the types and levels of magic," Rex said
"Types and levels of magic?" the boy asked
"Yea, there are different levels of magic that can be used depending on your mana pool and capacity they follow the same ranking system as that of the mage tiers and require various criteria to be met along with a deep understanding of how it is to be cast, als-"
*BOOM a loud explosion could be heard happening outside of the well interrupting his speech.
More explosions followed shortly after
*BOOM
*BOOM
"What's going on?!" the boy exclaimed
"This wasn't supposed to happen until another 3 months.........." Rex muttered to himself
