《Demise of the Gods》Chapter 4: The Well

Ahhhhh, it's over, all that's left to do is to end this fight.
As he stood there looking at her, he began to hear voices coming from the audience.
"Wait, isn't that King Dwen's granddaughter"
"Come to think of it, it is her isn't it"
"Is he just gonna watch his granddaughter get slaughtered"
The king's granddaughter, you've got to be fuckin kiddin me.......
He slowly walked behind of her and put the blade on her throat, so he could get a good view of the king and Ikko without her attempting to interrupt. It was the first time he had seen the king, he was an older gentleman with refined features, he had a long face, with blue eyes, a thin pointed nose, short red hair and he was wearing a robe silver in color, black stockings, and a white shirt beneath the robe and a silver crown with the shape of a triangular prism. He could see that the king was fat from the way his belly rolled while he was sitting. Ikko looked like a true gentleman, he wore a black beret accompanied by a long-sleeved white shirt and a pair of black pants made of cotton. He was a man of short stature with gray eyes, a square shaped face, and a hooked nose.
Judging by the king's facial expressions there was no doubt in his mind that this girl was related to the king, this was no look that a king would give to a mere fighter. The king stood up looking at him with a distressed expression on his face, it seems he had no idea that the robed mage was his granddaughter and was shocked at the event's occurring.
It's my right to kill her, but with the king here.............this could be turning an entire nation against me and this could lead to the death of Cornelius's family
The boy had to come up with a way to resolve this matter quickly, he was bleeding out and if he had fainted it would mean a guaranteed death, the girl had something he did not, time. Her spasms could stop any minute and she would be the victor of this fight.
"IKKO, AS YOU CAN SEE, THIS IS MY VICTORY AND I BELIEVE I HAVE A RIGHT TO DECIDE WHAT HAPPENS TO THIS GIRL'S LIFE AND I WISH FOR HER TO BE SPARED AT MY MERCY" he shouted at the man
The minute a fighter entered the pit, they were no longer bound by the rules of society, they were bound by Ikko's sole rule which was, kill or be killed and the boy was taking a big chance by asking for mercy, breaking this rule.
"I HEAR YOU BOY, BUT YOU MUST UNDERSTAND, THIS IS THE PIT AND ITS KILL OR BE KILLED, THERE WILL BE SEVERE IMPLICATIONS IF YOU INSIST ON MAKING THAT CHOICE" Ikko responded
Although he was surprised that Ikko was considering breaking the rule for him, he was still hoping that Ikko would've seen the situation for what it was and would've let him off the hook scratch free for sparing the king's granddaughter.
This was the biggest pain in the ass there could be, there was no way he was getting out of this matter unscathed, if he was to kill her it would be going against an entire nation but if he chose not to he would have to face a punishment. The punishment was better than putting Cornelius's family at risk, he couldn't afford to lose Jason at this point. This was the least he could do to repay them for their kindness throughout the past years.

"AND WHAT IS THE PUNISHMENT?" he asked
"I'VE THOUGHT ABOUT IT, YOU WILL BE SENTENCED TO LIFE INSIDE THE WELL FOR LET'S SAY 1 YEAR" Ikko shouted back.
He had no idea what the fuck the "well" Ikko was talking about was, but this sounded like the better of 2 bad options. This was a good deal, living one year inside what was called the well was nothing, this was child's play in the boy's eyes.
He was getting dizzy and light headed, it was time to finalize this deal before he fell unconscious.
"I LEAVE THE GIRL IN YOUR HANDS AND ACCEPT THE PUNISHMENT," he said finalizing the deal.
"THE DEAL IS DONE WITH EVERYONE HERE IN THE PIT AS MY WITNESSES" Ikko shouted at the crowd with a smile on his face.
The king's distressed face soon turned into a calm demeanor. He was relieved, his granddaughter made it out of this ordeal alive.
"You have had the ultimate luck today girl, you better thank the heavens," the boy whispered to the girl.
He dropped his sword to the ground, the last thing he could see was men in black robes coming for him through the gates before he fainted.
The gleaming moonlight with the sound of crickets chirping gave a signal to his body to wake up.
Ahhh, where am I
He tried to move his arms but heard the sound of something clanking, it was shackles. Taking a second to observe his body, all of his wounds had healed up, his assumption was that it was done by a healer, his clothes he wore in the fight had been taken from him and he was wearing a long tattered brown tunic with both his arms and legs were shackled with chains running from a wall.
He stood up and observed his surroundings, it was dark with the moon being his only source of light and from what he could estimate, he was around 30 meters underground. He quickly walked to check the range of the chains binding him, they extended roughly 2 meters in length. It was too dark for him to make any other deductions, he decided that it would be best for him to go to sleep and make a better assessment of the situation in the morning.
He laid down on the moist sand, it was strangely pleasant and felt cool, he fell asleep soon after.
Throughout the night he was restless, it was extremely cold later on in the night and he had no source of heat to keep himself warm and kept twisting and turning all night on the ground.
Is it raining?
He felt droplets hitting his face accompanied by heat and light. The dripping had stopped. Opening his eyes and looking up, it wasn't rain, some fuckin guard was taking a piss on top of him from atop the well. He could hear the guard laughing and it was infuriating, but he wasn't in a position to do anything and the guard walked away as if nothing had happened.
Who would've thought, the "well" was an actual well, to his surprise. The well was around 10 meters in diameter and was dried up with no traces of water. The walls were made of a stone lining ascending to his estimate of 30 meters.
He had no idea of what time it was, all he could tell was that it was day, it was the first time in years that he had not trained in the morning due to the circumstances. It made him feel on edge, the morning training was not just for sharpening his skills, it was a form of keeping his emotions in check and slowly but surely he was getting angrier as the day went by.

A couple hours passed and then 2 guards came with a leather bucket, they tied it to a rope and slowly lowered the bucket, in the bucket had a small cup filled with water, a small piece of bread and some dried fish.
"This is your meal for the day!" one of the guards shouted into the well.
There was no need to shout inside the well as the sound echoed but the guards were doing it for the fun of it as it would be borderline deafening for the boy.
He quickly ate his meal, placed the empty cup in the bucket and the guards took back the bucket. Soon after a figure made its way near the guards. It was Ikko.
"Kid, you got balls calling me out like that in the pit you know, if it had not been in that event, I would've taken your head regardless of the outcome of the fight, but thanks to you a crisis has been averted," Ikko said with a condescending tone.
"So what's the plan, I just have to stay here for a year right" the boy responded
"It sounds simple, but you'll understand soon enough, this well is like hell, but listen, I want to thank you, if you had killed that girl, there was no doubt in my mind that Dwen would've called his troops and destroyed Kólasi, he's an irrational man, you made the right choice and saved us all" Ikko said
"Well since I made the right choice, how about you let me outta here?" the boy responded with a smirk on his face
"You're a funny one but I'm sorry, I can't do that, you see I have to set an example for the people and the fighters, you were given special leeway by only being put in here for 1 year, if it was anyone else it would have been for life or even death, also, don't bother screaming for help or anything like that, this well is located in a position where only I and a few people know of, no one's gonna free you till your times up" Ikko replied.
"I understand, and the girl?" he asked
"She's with her grandfather, they're scheduled to leave tomorrow," Ikko replied
"Ah, ok" he responded after a delay
"Well, that's it, its time for me to take my leave, see you in a year," Ikko said with a smile on his face.
Ikko walked off after that without even batting an eye.
More time passed and the sun had reached its peak for the day. The well was so heated it was unbearable and there was nothing he could do. He sat against the wall and closed his eyes and began to think about random things to distract himself.
All of a sudden, he felt a shadow over him. When he looked up, he couldn't believe it. It was the fuckin girl from the pit, she was the last person he wished to see and there she stood at the top of the well looking down at him.
He couldn't help but stare at her and before he knew it she had begun to speak to him.
"I'm sorry for the way thing's turned ou-"
"Shut the fuck up and get out of my sight I don't want your pity"
Her sentence was quickly abrupted by the boy.
However, despite what he said, she felt as if she had an obligation to the boy and owed him some form of apology.
"It's all my fault and I'm truly sorry, I had no intention for this to happen and if I can I would like to make it up to you"
She stood there staring at him.She could sense his anger, he had a right to be mad, he had won the fight and he was the one suffering. His mind became filled with anger at the thought of her pitying him.
A spoiled little brat who thinks other people's lives are a fuckin game huh, you can do whatever the fuck you wanna do and have no consequences to pay for your actions, if you wanna make it up to me how about we switch places Little Ms. Princess, but your grandpa won't be happy if you do that so don't talk about making it up to me, go back to your little castle and stay there
He was borderline on the verge of speaking his mind, but he refrained from doing so.
"Please, shut the fuck up your royal pain in the ass, you'd better thank god for your blood, it's the only reason you're alive," he said with a condescending tone.
She began to cry at his words and her tears began to fall down into the well hitting him on the face. It struck a nerve, he couldn't hold it in anymore.
"Are you fuckin kiddin me, you're crying? What reason do you have to cry? Can't handle the truth?I'm sure you've had an easy life up to now, but spoon fed children should keep themselves out of this kind of world. I beg of you, get out of my sight, you're taking away my wall staring time" he said with a sarcastic tone.
She had no say in the matter anymore, she could tell he had no intention of carrying out this conversation anymore and any further words would further infuriate him. She walked off crying.
After around an hour later he began to rethink the conversation between the girl and him. The sheer thought of her pitying him and then having the audacity to cry for no reason pissed him off. He had to release his anger in some way, he got up and faced the wall and began punching it with all his might regardless of the pain.
"You know if you keep punching the wall like that I'll have to heal you again which is a rather big pain in my ass you know," a man said sarcastically looking into the well.
"And you are?" the boy stared at the man with eyes filled with rage.
"I'm the one who healed you obviously, My name is Rex"
