8 {First Stat upgrade}

Arriving at the end of the first floor of the dungeon Dan had confusion all over his eyes for the nth time again today

On his way to the end of the first floor Dan had come across and killed a total of eight goblins, which have provided him a total of 3 monster cores.

'That's very strange, no traps at the entrance and only 8 goblins? And where are the workers and mining goblins?'

'Well , the small amount of goblins can be linked to the fact that the dungeon is a low stage level instead of the mid-stage that I remember.'

Sighing aloud Dan thinks to himself

'Huh, looks like the questions will keep rising the further in i go, i'll just have to put them at the back of my mind until i come across the answer '

Following the path to the second floor Dan put the questions at the back of his mind, only to resurface when he has an answer.

It took a total of eighty minutes for him to arrive at the end of the third floor where he came across his first goblin that was stronger than the rest.

The goblin was a head taller than the rest, equipped with a rusty sword and dilapidated leather armor, he had four goblin warriors, two on each side.

'Looks like the bigger goblin with better equipment is the leader , might he be mid-stage?, let's check'

While in the shadows Dan observed the bigger goblin and used scan on it

'Well that's disappointing, was hoping to get some mid stage monster cores'

Dan not wanting to strain himself by facing more than his current physique can handle , grabbed his hatchet with his other free hand and banged the caves cold ground floor with the blunt side of the hatchet'

The noise attracted the attention of the goblin group, when the sound stopped the goblin leader spoke in unknown language and ordered the two goblins on his left to go and check it out, only for the goblin leader to end up with more vigilance when his underlings did not return, after the the two disappeared in darkness it was followed by about five minutes of creepy silence.

Signaling his two other subordinates to move forward , the leader goblin followed behind , wanting to find out what happened, only for him to hear the famous swish sound and than another thud, which alerted the goblin leader and it takes out its rusty sword and observes the direction the sound came from only to witness one of its underlings on the ground with an arrow in its head.

The goblin leader, flabbergasted and surprised by the death of his underling hears another swish sound which instantly makes it spike with vigilance and worry, when it sees it's other goblin underling hitting the ground with a thud.

Dan, after killing the last two goblin underlings , directed all his remaining focus to the leader, in his right hand the hatchet and single handed crossbow in his left he appeared in front of the goblin leader, witch responded by running to him while shouting in frustration and rage over its dead underlings, but it was all in vain , because , when it reached three sword lengths away from the intruder., Dan the intruder responded by shooting the crossbow towards the goblin leader witch responded with a swing of the rusty sword , deflecting the arrow, of which the action left him wide open, Dan took advantage of this opening in the goblins already weak defense and swung his right hand with perfect timing , managing to lodge the hatchet right in the dab middle of the goblin leaders head, splitting it halfway and killing the goblin instantly.

Looking at his kills for a few seconds while taking small deep breaths to calm his beating heart, Dan proceeds to dissect the corpses looking for monster cores and finding four more evolution cores from the leader's subordinates , but nothing from the leader goblin himself.

Some might consider taking the rusty sword, but Dan didn't even give it a glance of interest.

Continuing forward with a disappointed look in his eyes over the lack of loot , only to end up coming in front of a hut that was 15 meters away from the corpses .

Exiting the dungeon Dan had a lot of feeling revolving inside him. Anyone could see disappointment and confusion plastered On his face.

'First the cave entrance that leads towards the dungeon is barely big enough to pass through , unlike the past where it was 4 meters wide.

Second, there are no traps in the cave passage.

Third , there are only goblin fighters , which are too weak to even be considered a threat, especially with the low quantity that i came across.

And finally a leader without any loot, it's like I massacred a village of beggars, no, actually that's exactly how it feels like.

Not to mention that the dungeon stopped at the third floor even after searching all over the last dungeon floor , there was no entrance for the rest of the floors.'

'The difference between this dungeon and the one that i hunted in the past is like the distance between heaven and earth '

Dan was unhappy that his expectations were not met.

'Not to mention that the dungeon should have five floor and even the first floor housed thirty goblins, yet i only hunted a total of thirty five goblins altogether '

"Argh damn" , grunted Dan in frustration

'Too many questions and nobody to give me answers, oh well at least i have a source of monster cores '

'As for the dungeon , the only difference between this life and the future one that I have the memories of , is that I started hunting in the goblin dungeon about eighteen months after the integration of the [Chaotic System]. And now i started barley a few hrs after the system integration'

'Whatever changes the dungeon will face lies between these eighteen months .'

Guessed Dan to himself after putting one and one together .

While thinking to himself Dan took a short rest and ate some protein snacks,

Heading back to the dungeon Dan sets himself new goals to increase his speed, resulting in more monster cores and training his techniques. That's all thanks to the fact that instance type dungeons refresh every time someone steps in them.

'It took me 80 minutes on the first run, now that i know my limits and what to expect, I should be able to finish the floors in about 5-10 minutes each run, if i'm not miscalculating'

'Going down the floors the first few times i had to readjust my speed and attack patterns many times to get used to the difference in strength and it looks like i miscalculated the time it would take to make each run, I was off by five minutes, i feel like i'm far away from the strengths I've reached in the past'

'I'll just have to train harder , not to mention my sluggish calculations even though my intelligence stat is the second highest .'

With determination flashing in his eyes and an expert's aura radiating from him, Dan continues training in the goblins dungeon for the next few days until his provisions run out.

'Ugh, three days two nights'

Dan thought to himself

'I need to go back home now and absorb absorb the monster cores, and with the extra strength and more resources i can quietly and with no outside interference train in this goblin dungeon until I am strong enough to face a more difficult opponent'

Arriving home Dan took a shower to freshen up and cooked a good meal before meditating and consuming the evolution stone that he managed to have acquired over the last few days.

Taking a deep breath Dan opens his eyes

Deep down in his body he could feel the changes it went trough, his blood more active and energetic and his body lighter but it still couldn't compare to how strong he was before .

'This would make due for now, although 432 monster cores sounds a lot , it was barely enough to increase a couple of stats .

The next day

Getting out of bed Dan continued to the kitchen, prepared some cereal, afterwards took a shower and continued to a supermarket and made enough purchases of canned and dried foods, water and some camping equipment that would last him a month, all the boxes filled out the back of his car.

'Thankfully with my introverted lifestyle i have no immediate plans, so i'm all ready to head straight to training right after informing my mother'

This time knowing the exact location of the goblin dungeon Dan was able to park the car next to the boulder and continued to open the back seat door to take out the camping equipment bag set up camp beside the car , having two sides covered by the car and the boulder , protecting him from the wind.

After setting up camp Dan proceeded to take out the equipment backpack and equipped himself with his weapons, the hatchet on his right , the crossbow on his left and a new hammer he got from the construction area in the supermarket.

'Man am i thankful that some construction equipment can be useful against low and mid stage monsters that don't have mastery or abilities in defense, although these weapons will wear quite fast the, backup should be enough , but i have to make sure that the metal crossbow bolts are retrieved because i don't have an infinite amount of those and it would be a waste of time to drive to the hunting store and get some.'

Making sure everything was set, Dan started his training.
