《The Class Of Dan ThunderField》84-Party Gathering At The Castle
Advertisement
There is a party at the King’s Castle. All the nobles have gathered there. The party is kind of a send-off to Princess Kaileen.
There are a lot of nobles and also a few familiar faces are at the party.
“Hey Inach, is that you?”
A man in his late thirties with glasses asks Mister Inach.
“Ah, it’s you Mister Rightman.”
The person Mister Inach is talking to is Mister Rightman, Sven’s father.
Luke sighs as he looks at his father. He is wearing a good-looking black suit. He also has a different hairstyle than usual. It is a more noble-like look that is normally not seen by him.
“You didn’t want to come here, did you?”
Jack asks Luke.
Jack also wears a suit but it’s more of a delinquent style of wearing a suit. He has kept his jacket and vest open and has no tie or bow. Even the shirt that he wears under his vest is untucked. It’s as if he doesn’t care.
“What do you think?”
Luke asks Jack.
“Of course, you don’t want to see the person you love to be sent-off to some kind of grave.”
Jack chuckles.
“That was dark and not funny.”
Luke looks at Jack with a stoic face.
“Sorry man.”
Jack smiles.
“What about you? Why did you come?”
Luke asks Jack.
“Its cause of my stupid father, he said that there would be some sexy girls for him and me.”
Jack sighs in disappointment.
“But you don’t have an eye on any girl except Valerie.”
Luke smirks.
“Huh?! What are you on about?!”
Jack looks away but his face is red.
Luke looks at Carly.
She is wearing a long black dress, it’s pretty plain yet it suits Carly well to a point where if no one knew how the Princess looked, one would call her The Princess. Her smooth long hair supported that theory even more.

For now, Carly seems to be searching for someone.
“Do you know who your sister is searching for?”
Luke asks Jack.
“I guess she is searching for Sir Dan.”
Jack says.
“He isn’t a noble though, is he?”
Luke asks.
“I didn’t know that. I always thought that Sir Dan was a noble. I mean have you seen his house. It looks like a noble’s place.”
Jack says.
“Yeah, I agree, one would mistake Sir Dan’s house for a noble’s place.”
A familiar figure in James Klinger appears behind Jack and Luke.
“Hey, it’s you, James.”
Luke says as he looks at James who is wearing a suit and holding a cup of soft-drink.
“Yeah, it feels weird talking to you guys after that tournament.”
James says with a nervous smile.
“Don’t be like that James. We are all friends here.”
Luke says with a smile.
“Seriously? You don’t mind being friends with me?”
James asks.
“Hey now, even if you were against us in the tournament, you are still someone we know since the start of the year. That’s why we don’t mind being friends with you.”
Jack says.
“I agree with Jack on this.”
Luke grins.
James smiles.
The three boys continue on with their conversation.

Carly seems to be looking around for someone.
“Tsch! Should I call Dan? I mean...He isn’t going to be here exactly but still...”
Carly seems to be bored.
“Miss Carly?”
Someone calls Carly from behind her.
She looks behind her to find Horrell and Izumi. Both are wearing kimonos. Horrell’s Kimono is red with maple flowers as its background design while Izumi’s kimono is a plain blackish color with reddish-white straps.
Horrell seems to be a little embarrassed.

“Miss Carly, we both are wearing the same colored clothes!”
Izumi says with a smile.
“I agree and it surprisingly looks beautiful on you. Is it some kind of Eastern dress or something?”
Carly compliments Izumi.
“Pretty much, it’s our traditional dress that we call Kimono.”
Izumi answers Carly’s question.
“I see.”
Carly’s eyes move to Horrell.
“Not going to lie though, Horrell most probably looks more beautiful than you today.”
Carly looks surprised at how good Horrell looks in her Kimono.
“I know right?! She looks so adorable!”
Izumi hugs Horrell.
“Izumi?! What are you doing?!”
Horrell looks to be embarrassed.
Carly gives a smile, “Man, you two have grown closer it seems.” Carly says.
“Yeah, that’s because Horrell stays in the castle with her brother. So, you know, we get a lot of time to spend together.”
Izumi says.
“I see.”
Carly says with a small smile.
“Oh right, is Sir Dan not going to come, Miss Carly?”
Izumi asks Carly.
“Nah, his not a noble, so he most probably won’t.”
Suddenly, Carly’s face turns grim.
“Even if he was, he wouldn’t have come.”
Carly says.
Both Izumi and Horrell look at each other with confused faces.

Nero Zero
Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables. It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia. All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer. What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals. ------------------------------------------------ All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead. Lightweight where it can be, heavy where it must. Thanks for reading. Cover Credits (The cover is CC-BY-NC-SA): Steampunk Spider Bracer, by Daniel Proulx. The Twelve
In a world marred by the supernatural, Japan suffers from its own fair share of evil and demonic disasters, with generations of shamans known as Onmyoji protecting their homeland from these forces of evil. Capable of wielding magic and using spirits of their own, these shamans were not only skilled in battle, but also divination. However, they were unable to correctly predict Japan's loss in World War Two, and suffered the punishments that followed. Persecuted and torn apart by infighting, the Onmyoji reunited under the banner of the Tsuchimikado clan, descendants of Abe no Seimei, one of the greatest Onmyoji to ever live. The Onmyoji began to rebuild and to regrow. Ren is the sole heir to the Tsuchimikado family, but has been unable to practice Onmyodo ever since his birth, even though he possesses the greatest ability in the family. But when disaster befalls his family, Ren has nobody to turn to, and no idea how to use his powers. As he journeys to escape the same fate his family faced and attempts to learn how to use his powers, there is only one question on his mind; as the Tsuchimikado heir, how can he save the Onmyoji... from themselves? ---------------------------------------------- note from author: I'm writing this based loosely on the very real theories of Onmyodo, and so my writing may not be a truthful or accurate depiction of Onmyodo or other related areas, such as religion, for instance. That is why, while depicted in the real world, events that happen may seem unrealistic and it may be easier to imagine it as a parallel universe that is the same as ours, but with slight differences so that my possible errors will be easier to overlook. Sorry, and thanks!
