Dan gets a flower in the forest, “That’s the final ingredient. I got all the seven things that I came here to get. Now, it’s time to see how my students are doing with their trials.”

Dan quickly hops onto a tree branch and begins searching for his students.

“There you are!”

Dan spots Brenna’s mana and quickly makes his way there.

Brenna is running away from something, “STOP CHASING ME!”

Brenna breathes heavily as she tries to get away from the rotting dead body of her mother which is chasing her.

Running away from the rotting body only puts her in a corner.

“Why didn’t...You help me...Brenna? Is it because you were...The daughter of...That manwhore? Or is...Because you didn’t like your mother? Tell me, Brenna...Why didn’t you save MEEEEEEE?!!!!!”

The rotting body screeches the last word.

“I tried! I tried to save you, mum! But you were already dying! I couldn’t do anything...I just couldn’t do anything...”

There were tears in Brenna’s eyes and her body was shivering from fear.

“THAT’S A LIE!”

The rotting body tries to attack Brenna.

Dan’s eyes widen.

I realize that Brenna is about to be attacked by the zombie on the ground. That’s right, what Brenna is facing is a zombie.

I don’t have time to think, I have to cut off its head.

*LIGHTNING BOLT*

The lightning bolt quickly goes right through the zombie’s head and I save Brenna in time.

I get down from the branch and walk towards Brenna. She falls to the ground scared and shivering from fear.

“Sir Dan *Sniff* Sir Dan *Sniff*”

I sigh. Something is wrong, during the trials I never saw someone with so much hatred. For some reason, Goddess Efra almost killed a human. One of the kindest Goddess’s tried to kill a human. I don’t know why but that’s the case.

If I didn’t use my lightning bolt in time, Brenna would have been consumed by that zombie.

“You okay?”

I ask Brenna who is crying.

“That thing *Sniff* I didn’t kill my mother, Sir Dan *Sniff*”

Brenna is wiping her tears.

I sit in front of Brenna.

“Tell me.”

I say.

Brenna looks surprised.

“Tell me about what happened to your mother.”

I don’t know why Goddess Efra didn’t help you Brenna but I will definitely help you get out of your past. Don’t worry, as your teacher, I will help you get past this obstacle.

Brenna cleans her face and takes a while to calm down.

I sit with her.

“My father is a noble. He has a son, his name is Reed. He works under the famous engineering scientist Fishie.”

Brenna looks sad.

“Let me guess, Reed isn’t your mother’s kid, is he?”

I ask Brenna.

Brenna shakes her head, “He is the son of a noblewoman while I am a daughter of a common mother and a noble father.”

Soon there was a smile on Brenna’s face, “You see, my mother, she used to work day and night making money for my education at our herbal shop. She made sure that I went to the best school there was and even going to this academy was thanks to her but our herbal shop was taken away from us right after I entered the academy and I came to know it was none other than my father who did it because he wanted to build some kind of hospital there. He said that herbal medicines are no good and they have advanced technology to treat people.”

Suddenly, I felt anger raging inside Brenna.

“He said that to my mother, the best herbalist in the whole goddamn Kingdom. My mother couldn’t handle it anymore. She sent me to the academy’s girl’s dorm. I made friends, I spent time with them, I became a delinquent, followed by Jack and others around. I enjoyed my time at the academy. But, after the first semester of our year was done, I decided to meet the mother and see how she was doing.”

Tears started gushing down Brenna’s cheek.

“I came to know from a neighborhood shop...She was found dead...Hanging on the ceiling...”

Brenna looked like she was about to breakdown.

“She also had a letter of suicide...She didn’t mention anything about me. She said that she is killing herself only because she couldn’t pay her debts. She wanted to clear me out. She didn’t want anyone to know that I was her daughter, so she made sure that my name never came out.”

Brenna says.

“If she had someone who could look after her, I am sure that she wouldn’t have killed herself”

“You still don’t forgive yourself because you think that while you were enjoying yourself at your academy, your mother was the one suffering for you.”

I look at Brenna.

Brenna nods.

I sigh, “By any chance, was your mother’s name, Deena?”

I ask as I look away.

“How do you know?!”

Brenna looks confused.

I smile, “You see, there was this cutesy little girl once when I came to her shop with my brother. I would be something around 17 or 18 years old. She had a pony-tail and she exchanged something with me.”

I show her my necklace.

Brenna looks surprised,

“THAT NECKLACE!”

I smile.

“Don’t tell me, you are that big bro who came to that shop that! You had such long hairs and a beard then! You have shaved your beard as well as cut your hairs...You...”

Brenna looks surprised as well as satisfied.

“I remember Deena, she was a great herbalist. My brother was ill, so we came to her shop and my brother got cured within a day. I will also tell you this, my brother, nor did I believe even for a moment that Deena could kill herself, especially when she had her little daughter to take care of. She was one helluva woman.”

I say to Brenna.

“What do you mean?”

Brenna asks me.

“You see, I believe Brenna was murdered.”

As soon as I speak, Brenna’s eyes burn from rage.

“Who was it that killed my mother?!”

Brenna asks with a burning rage in her heart.

“Even if I tell you now, you won’t be able to defeat that person nor will you be able to catch him since he destroyed all evidence.”

I smile.

*Pat*

I pat on Brenna’s head, “So for now, let me train you so that you could be strong enough to defeat that person who killed your mother.”

I smile.

I could have caught that person a long ago if only I had known that beforehand but it was already too late for that. Now, all I can do this wait for the opportunity. Don’t worry Brenna, I promise this much, I won’t let that person get away from killing your mother. You will get your revenge. I promise.
