《The Class Of Dan ThunderField》03-Scouting And Learning

“Why would the teacher want her to be sitting in the front row?”
The students are speaking...I can hear them due to my magic that still is spread out throughout the room.
I look at Horrell who picks up her bag and keeps it close to her chest as she begins to move in the front.
“Don’t look at her or you will be cursed like her, at least that’s what mum said to me...”
Horrell stands in front of me.
“Sir, may I ask that which one us are going to replace our seats for her seat?” The nerdy kid says.
I smile and say, “No one.”
“What?!” Everyone seems to be either surprised or totally confused.
I lift my hand towards the bench that Horrell was seating before she got here, “MOVE!” I say.
The bench floats in the air and begins to move towards my direction. This is floating magic. Any object which isn’t filled with mana can be lifted using this magic.
The bench flies over Horrell’s head, “Horrell if you would please move out of the way.” Horrell nods as she moves to a side, “SIT!” The bench falls to the ground with a soft impact and is now safely moved right in front of me.
“You will be sitting right over here.” I smile as I look at Horrell.
“Hey...You didn’t chant the spell.” The guy with hair falling to his forehead says.
“Oh, I already did, you just couldn’t keep up with it.” I say.
“That’s...Crazy...” The guy says.
The whole class’s eyes are glued on me as Horrell sits down on her seat.
“Alright, anybody’s got any questions?” I ask as I look around.
“Sir!” Yeah, it had to be the nerdy guy...I mean look at him, his curious enough to know more. His that study typa guy.
“Sir, what tree of magic are you going to teach us?” He asks.
“Your name is Sven Rightman, isn’t it?” I ask as I look at the registry. I used another magic here to zoom the view of my eyes to his ID card which contains his name.
“That is me sir but how did you know?!” Sven asks me, “Just your ID card, I already read it.” I say with a smile. Sven seems to be confused and is looking at his own ID card while adjusting his glasses.
“Anyways, I already said that every individual will get their own tree.” I look towards the Princess, “Like the little Princess here will be learning the Tree of Hermes.” I say than I look towards Horrell, “The quote on quote ‘Cursed girl’ you call here will be learning from the Tree of Freya since her healing magic’s ability is quite strong.” I then look at the guy who's hair is falling down but before that, I look at the register to confirm his name, “Luke Inach here will be learning from the Tree of Sun Wukong.” I say with a smile.
“SUN WUKONG?! But isn’t that tree too complicated?!” Luke seems to be surprised.
“Don’t worry buddy! Your teacher is here to teach you about your tree.” I say as I point at myself and wink.
Luke chuckles.
What was so funny? I was just trying to speak in the same manner he does...
“But I thought we were all going to learn the same tree...” Sven seems to be confused.

“Why is that?” I ask.
“The previous teacher-“ Horrell suddenly stops talking and gets her head down.
“Speak up, I ain’t gonna be angry at you or anything.” I chuckle and smile.
“Sven, have your seat, Horrell, get up, look at me and explain it!” I order.
“Yes sir!” Sven says as he sits.
Horrell gets up and looks at me, her red eye is definitely scary...But...I smile. I feel like she is feeling secure right now, “Our previous teacher, Sir Tarand...He said that he will teach everyone the ways of The Tree of Ares and he taught everyone from the Tree of Ares.”
That explains why that little Princess knew a spell from the Tree of Ares.
“I am guessing you weren't taught his ‘Way of Ares thingy’?” I ask. Horrell shakes her head, “I understand, you learned those spells on your own, didn’t you?” I ask. Horrell nods, “I knew it, let’s get those perfected in our next lecture.” I say as I smile, “You can have your seat Horrell.” I say to Horrell as she sits down.
“In all honesty, I ain’t gonna teach you guys anything today since it’s my first day. The only thing I came here was to scout this class and I see that some of you are quite determined to learn while some of you are slacking off and some of you already don’t like me. I can totally understand that as it’s my first day. So, if you have any questions, feel free to go in on me. I will answer everything that I can.” I say with a smile.
The little Princess raises her hand, “What do you want little Princess?” I ask as I smirk.
She angrily gets up, “Why give me Hermes? Why not teach everyone from that tree?” The little Princess seems to be frustrated.
“I think with that small body of yours, you will definitely be quite agile, that is why Hermes is suited for you.” I say.
“What does that even mean?!” The little Princess surely is frustrated.
“The Tree of Hermes is all about speed magic. If I had to guess, your height would be around 4’1 to 4’3. So because your body is that small, the Tree of Hermes suits your body’s nature and not yours in particular.” I say.
“Huh? Nature?” Everyone seems to be confused.
“There are two ways of knowing which Magic Tree suits you the best. The first one is knowing your own nature. In other words, know your personality and match it to a god but mostly that is an impossible task and very few people match the same nature as God’s Magic Tree that they are following. The second method is to know the nature of your body, scout out your strongest points in your body and follow that tree. Now, Hermes, he was quite a sneaky god. While he was the messenger of the Gods, he also was a betrayer within their own lands. I don’t like the betrayer tag that Hermes has but I still want something suitable for the little Princess, so I decided to give her the Magic Tree of Hermes.” I explain everything in detail.
“You may have your seat little Princess unless there is something else you wanna ask me.” I say with a smile.
The little Princess sits back down.
“Any more questions?” I ask.
“SIR!” It’s that tall girl with a petite body, now that I can get a clear look at her, she is wearing a white hairband and a white watch, not to mention, two blue-colored earrings cover her ear piercing and those earrings have a white-colored star carved on it. She is also wearing short socks and white sneakers. It seems she is coming in a pack of white.

I look at the register and then use the zoom again to look at her ID card, “Sasha Pruvian, please do feel to ask whatever you want.” I say with a smile as I put both my hands in my pocket.
“SIR! What is your Magic Tree?!” Sasha asks.
“Of course...Someone would have asked that...” I sigh and just as I was about to speak.
*BANG*
I look to my right and I see that the chick I saw earlier this morning was here.
“You must be the new teacher of Class 1-A, right?” The chick asks and smiles.
Her smile is pretty cute I must say...
“Yeah, that’s me.” I say as I look at her.
“Your lecture is over. So the Grandmaster wants to see you.” The chick says as she smiles.
“Alright, I guess that’s the end of the day kids, I will see you guys tomorrow.” I smile as I leave.
But I listen to a voice due to my spread magic. It was the chick’s voice, “You won’t ever replace Sir Tarand.”
I stand for a minute outside the class looking at the ground, “Sir Tarand huh? I wonder...Was he really that good of a teacher?” I look at the sky out of the window in front of me.
I begin making my way towards the Grandmaster’s office. Oh yeah...That Grandmaster would be that the old man, neh? I sigh from disappointment.
Now that I think about it...Master, what would you do if you were compared to another teacher?
I heard another student speak about that Tarand guy and even that other hot teacher spoke about it...Will I try to be better than him? Wait, is he even a guy or a girl? I don’t even know. I laugh at myself and sigh.
I guess you will laugh it off as well, right? This shouldn’t affect me that much since I don’t even know the people here that well but...One of the things that I hate the most is when I am compared to others and especially to someone I don’t even know...Tsch!
I have made it to the Grandmaster’s office. I knock the door.
*Knock* *Knock*
“Old man, you there?” I ask as I wait outside.
“Oh? Is it our new magic tutor? Please come in.” That old man seemed really excited for me to come to his room. I wonder why that would be.
I open the door and enter the room. There sits the old man with both his hands joined and smiling at me.
“You really can creep someone out.” I say as I look at him. He is quite menacing like he is trying to be some kinda villain or something of that sort.
“So, did you like the class?” The old man asked me.
“It was a decent class. I analyzed everyone and I think I can handle it but what’s in it for me?” I ask.
“Other than those all that become your students, you will also be highly paid, let’s say around 50,000 ducs. That’s almost as much as your brother makes per month. Secondly, no one will interfere with your students since they all belong to you and your only class. Of course, there will teachers taking care of subjects like Language and P.E. but you will be their teacher. Finally, your secret will be safe with me.” The old man gives a smile.
I sigh, “So my brother has already told you about us...” I say as I look away.
The old man nods, “Exactly.”
“I guess, I will need to take care of those students even if I don’t want to.” I sigh.
“Uh-huh!” He really is getting on my nerves with his smile.
“Here’s your schedule.” He passes me on a message on my phone. I get my phone out and check it.
“Where did you get my number from?” I twitch my eyebrow.
“I got it from your brother of course.” He is still smiling...I really need to look away.
I sigh, “Alright, I will be attending starting tomorrow.” I say.
“Good to know!” And he continues to smile.
I begin to walk back, “By the way...” Now, what does he have to say to me now?
“Horrell, I hope you can understand her.” He isn’t smiling anymore. It’s like he is more serious talking about that girl.
I nod, “I understand her circumstances. Her regeneration capabilities are pretty damn strong but, that red-eye is the reason why she is called the cursed girl.” I look sad.
The red-eye, they say that the red-eye is the curse of the evil. The only ones to ever get a red eye are the children of the Evil God Lucifer. At least that’s what the church says.
I make my way out of the Grandmaster’s office.
I don’t exactly know why the church says that but I know this much that the churches are ranked pretty high in the kingdom. They even have their own personal levy to protect them.
I look at my class as I am making my way out of the academy.
The churches are regarded to be somewhat equivalent to the King. They can issue a law, call out people for being apostates, declare a holy war and the thing that happened to us...Burning of the witch on the stake.
I see that Horrell’s seat is back in her place and so is she.
Sister...She was called a witch by the church even though she was a nun, one of their own people. The kids were shot down with magic by the Count and his armies but the sister was burnt alive on the stake. All that just because she didn’t give the month’s rent.
I begin to make my way back home.
Oh yeah, monthly rent, even half of that goes to the church. In other words, the churches are rich as fuck while there are poor people here dying and starving to death because of poverty.
I reach the main gate of the academy.
*Tap* *Tap* *Tap* *Tap*
I hear someone running towards me. I turn around, it’s that little princess.
Something’s odd about this, “I WON’T LET YOU GET AWAY!!!”
“Hey little Princess what-“
*Guh*
I spit out blood, “You can never replace Sir Tarand!” There is a knife inside my gut...
I might be...Losing consciousness.

Numbers Continually Going Upward
The world has very politely ended in the most webfiction way possible. Everyone is now leveling up in various things. Problems are arising. Some or all of those problems may be based around how to have a community barbeque when the nearest cow has been teleported to a few thousand miles away, along with the nearest supermarket. Join our protagoinst as he attempts to be a cool person, while everything falls apart. _____It turns out that any attempt to write a parody of the litrpg genre through overuse of the concept of leveling up inevitably fails when it turns out that *that is what the genre is based on*. Still, this was a fun little candy project of mine, and I might write more of it.

Overseer (Dwarf Fortress x Worm)
A young woman gains the power to make elements of a saved game real. She must then survive the assault of a coordinated attack by some of the deadliest parahumans on the planet - he same group of murderhobos that caused her the mental trauma that resulted in her gaining her powers to begin with. This is a crossover fiction between the most complicated game ever created, 'Dwarf Fortress' by Toady One, and an extensive grimdark superpower genre serial fiction called 'Worm' by Wildbow. It is violent and there are some references to sex in it, so it's probably not fit for young children to read, and persons not familiar with Dwarf Fortress or Worm might be confused by some elements, but I feel confident that it stands reasonably well on it's own. This crossover is complete. I posted it here in it's entirety all at once. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
