《NEVER JUDGE》Chapter 3

Adrianna had been waiting for Cedric for an hour, she couldn’t reach him on his phone. Although she didn’t mind him working late she knew he would get an earful from her mother when they got home.
Soon she saw her car approaching, she sighed in relief.
“I’m sorry Adrianna, I got held up at work and didn’t notice the time.” Cedric apologized.
“Don’t apologize to me, apologize to mom later. You know how she gets.” Adrian sighed.
“Why don’t we eat out today? I got promoted, so it’s my treat!” Getting promoted was an understatement for what happened to him today, but he had no plans of telling his wife or her family just yet.
As if on cue, Adrianna’s phone began to ring, it was her mother.
“Let’s hold off celebrating your promotion, my cousin got engaged and her father invited us all out.” Adrianna told Cedric. He drove them home to pick up Adrianna’s mother Gracia, and her father Charles.
“Who is Asia’s fiance, mom?” Adrianna would soon regret asking her mom.
“His name is Mark Chu, he is the son of a very wealthy businessman. They own a chain of drugstores that already has branches in other countries!” Gracia said proudly, as if Asia was her daughter. “Why couldn’t you marry a man as capable as Mark, Adrianna?”
“Mom!” Adrianna scolded.
“And you! My lazy husband, you could at least contribute more to your family. Instead here you are just a professor! I thought you were going to be a doctor when I married you!” Gracia scolded her husband.
The rest of the ride was Gracia praising Asia’s fiance. According to Gracia, Mark Chu was young and rich, he had booked the whole restaurant to celebrate their engagement and had given Asia a ring worth hundreds of thousands. He was set to inherit his father’s business in a few years.

Cedric couldn’t help but grin, if only his in-laws knew who he really was, they wouldn’t be so impressed with Mark Chu. At a traffic light, Cedric asked Ian to get all the information about Mark Chu, Cedric had met a handful of rich heirs and he knew they liked to brag. Before they even arrived, Ian sent him an email with all the information he needed on Mark Chu.
After dropping Adrianna and his in-laws off at the lobby, he parked the car. He quickly skimmed through Mark’s dossier and realized that Mark’s father didn’t even want this engagement to happen. He chuckled to himself, the snobby Hernandez family was going to get snubbed by someone else soon.
At the lobby of the restaurant.
“Cedric! Cedric!”
Cedric turned to find Raymund Laurence waving at him. Raymund was the eldest son and heir of the notorious Laurence family. They were involved in both legal and illegal businesses. Growing up Raymund and Cedric grew up side by side and Raymund was very much aware of the poverty training Cedric had to go through.
“Hey Ray! I thought that Chu kid booked the whole restaurant?” Cedric asked.
“Ha! He only booked a function room. Hey I heard you’re coming back?” Ray asked.
“Yeah. But I’m not going public about it yet.” Cedric explained.
“Well if you need any help, you know you can ask us.” The “us” Raymund was talking about were the notorious 5 princes. All sons of rich influential families who were all groomed to take over someday. Unlike their other counterparts, they took their studies and businesses seriously and had all been given significant roles in their own families. Everyone knew who 4 were, but no one seems to have met the 5th prince, the extremely low profile son of the Reyes clan.

“Swing by the function room Mark Chu booked a little bit later. I think his dad will come by.” Cedric said with a grin.
Raymund simply nodded and went on his way.
In the function room, Cedric took his seat beside Adrianna. It seemed the whole Hernandez clan came out to meet this soon to be in-law of the family.
Adrianna’s cousin, Asia Hernandez was the youngest daughter of her father’s eldest brother, she was tall and pretty. Although Asia was only 22, she wore makeup that made her look more mature than she actually was. Like most of the Hernandez’s she had fair skin and black hair. Upon seeing Cedric arrive, she dragged her fiancé to brag to Adrianna and her family.

Immovable Mage
What do you call a mage incapable of casting spells? In this story, we usually call him Terry. When the boy is accepted into Arcana Academy, his talent in the pillars of mana foundation awes everyone. All the bigger is the eventual disappointment when Terry turns out to be an utter failure at spellwork. Diagnosis? Major aspect impairment. No cure. Ever. Faced with expulsion, Terry is blessed with the unexpected kindness of others. Terry loses his spot in the Academy but in exchange, he finds a home with a family. Terry starts to train as a pure mana cultivator but never stops looking for his own path as a mage – day after day, season after season, always searching for compatible spellwork… Until finally, Terry’s perseverance earns him a single spell – the only spell he will ever be able to cast. Disclaimers: Chapter Frequency: I aim for one chapter a week. Chapter Length: I try to keep chapters between 3000 and 6000 words. Binge Preference: I plan for 30 chapters per arc. If you want to binge a complete arc, then that is the number to wait for. I will also add a line to chapters indicating the beginning and end of an arc. Advanced Access: I have created a patreon page with early access to four chapters for patrons. What to Expect: Progression fantasy with a western fantasy setting and with eastern fantasy elements. A main character that is forced to explore a very narrow path of magic due to a permanent condition. A main character that is a part of a larger cast. A main character that is growing but won't become the strongest around anytime soon. A story following a single main character but with introduction or theme setting scenes without the main character. What Not to Expect: Edgy grimdark characters – I will never write a sexual violence scene or gory descriptions of torture. I hate reading it and I would hate writing it even more. Romance – romantic relationships will never be the focus of the story and only appear in the background. The main character is preoccupied with other stuff. Other forms of relationships (family, friends, companions) play a bigger role. Cover: The cover art was commisioned from redditor Linh-Nguyen87. The font is alita brush by Inovatype Typefoundry. Overview: 001–030 Arc 1, Cultivating Perseverance: complete. 031–060 Arc 2, Undying Defiance: complete. 061–090 Arc 3, Unyielding Fury: scheduled for publishing. 091–120 Arc 4, Savage Hope: scheduled for publishing. 121–150 Arc 5, Self-Made Fate: first draft in progress. 151–180 Arc 6, Heretic Style: sketching in progress. Further Arcs are still in the sketching and idea collection phase.

The Shadow Rogue
Since ages past, the kingdoms of [Cuntersia] and [Wankeryl] have been locked in a stalemate of unending war. Recently, they have been in a conflict for [Kokaine], a resource that can only be found between the borders of the two countries. Revered for its ability to significantly raise the magical and physical potential of anyone who uses it, neither kingdom could afford to yield the vast fields of [Kokaine] to the other. As the two superpowers clash, a single hero emerges, bestowed with overwhelming combat ability and strength. Possessing the finesse to turn the tide of the war either way, which side would he choose? Or will he forge his own path of solitary conquest and get high by sniffing [Kokaine]? NOTE: This story takes place in a medieval fantasy setting with swords and magic. There are Elves, Beastkin, Orcs, and monsters as well. There will be a lot of lame jokes and names, please don't be offended. And remember to leave a review! This is just a joke novel, although it gets a bit more serious after the first few chapters. Credits to user Tanaka Tomoyuki for suggesting me the synopsis.
