《Eigengrau》Chapter 1 [v2]

With a bright flash of white and the orbs burst outward off Haiko. He opens his eyes and sees a dreamlike scenery.
Haiko looks in awe as he sees across seemingly never-ending darkness is a sea that mirrors the blanket of stars up above. Numerous orbs of lights, bouncing all over that are coming from all directions.
The dark pristine sea was calm, the water only moves for a moment as the orbs bounce on its surface.
As Haiko turns around, he notices he stands on top of the only land as far as he could see. On the middle lies a luminescent iridescent tree surrounded by small orbs of light that differs from the others as these glow in different colors.
The tree vibrantly and beautifully glows, a variety of different colored light seemingly passing through its trunk from its roots towards its branches and onto its bright white leaves.
Haiko is amazed to see all of this and tries to move forward. But to his surprise, he couldn’t.
Haiko felt much lighter and airy, sort of how one should feel if they accidentally cut off blood circulation with a part of their body. But in Haiko’s case, it’s his whole body.
Haiko looks down to see if the orbs of light from earlier are still binding his body, but to his shock, he sees that he doesn’t even have a body anymore.
Haiko floats to the edge of the patch of land and looks at the water on the edge. He sees in the reflection of the water’s surface; he now looks like a ghostly black orb emitting a smoky white glow.
Haiko wryly laughs but to his added delirium. He can’t see his mouth, while his eyes are just white circles. Haiko then turns around and faces the tree as he sighs, “And… this confirms it, upon all I’ve read and learned. I am truly and really dead! Yup no doubt about it!” Haiko says to himself bluntly.
A black tall shadowy alien-like figure then reveals itself leaning on the tree. “Now what are you mumbling over there?” the black figure says with a deep and echoey voice.
Haiko quickly looks at the black figure and slowly floats towards it. “And you are?” As Haiko moves closer, the black tall shadowy alien-like figure moves forward a little, revealing itself to Haiko. The black shadowy figure looks in delight at Haiko as it stands in front of the tree with its hands on its waist.
Haiko stops a meter away from the black figure, as he sees it has a similar looking head to his, albeit without the smoky like aura. As the mysterious black figure stands, upon closer look. Haiko sees it looking like a living shadow with glowing star-like patterns moving across its body.
Haiko skeptically looks at the shadowy being. “Hi…? Are you might be the Grim Reaper?” Haiko asks calmly.
The Shadowy Being smirks, “tsk, tsk, tsk… Far from it my dear friend!” as the Shadow Being says it places his hand on his chin and smugly looks at Haiko. “You already know who I am… But I’m also known as the kind and gentle, loving and Caring, Overseer of Worlds! He who watches over the balance of worlds!” the Shadowy Being says pompously.

Haiko questioningly looks at the Overseer, “Overseer of Worlds? I’m sorry, but I can’t say we’ve met really, unless we’ve met at a Halloween party at some point… But it’s nice to meet you though” Haiko says nicely to the Overseer.
The Overseer overreacts by putting a hand on his forehead looking distraught and leaning on the tree’s trunk, “Oh! How could you… With all the years we’ve spent with each other! The diapers I had to change when you were just a wee babe…” the Overseer dramatically says, shedding a few fake tears as he does.
Haiko looks at the Overseer confused. “Umm… what?”
As the Overseer sheds some crocodile tears, he stands up and smiles at Haiko. “I think this will help explains things!” as the Overseer says, he raises his right hand at Haiko. With a snap of his fingers, a familiar Black Fedora floats onto the Overseer’s hand.
Haiko is puzzled as to what the Black Fedora was for, that is until the Overseer wears it and morphs his head into someone Haiko knows.
Haiko jolts in surprise, “Fedo Jii-san!”
The Overseer smirks with the face of Fedo Jii-san, “Yo kid…” as the Overseer says with Fedo Jii-san’s voice, he disperses his Fedora and morphs back into his Shadowy looks.
Haiko chuckles as he sees his old friend but quickly looks at the Overseer with curiosity as he thinks things over. “Wait… So, what’s the play here? If you’re Fedo Jii-san, what does that mean for me, I’m dead, aren’t I? If I were to guess, are you the one who shows up as the guy who’ll guide me to the light?” Haiko asks curiously to the Overseer.
The Overseer laughs and waves his hand. “No, no… I’m the person who’s gonna BRING you to a world you’ll most be needed! And well… If I think about it, yeah in a sense you are going to the light. But not in the way you’d expect!” the Overseer grins. “Simply said, you are being reformed into a new world!” he says proudly.
Haiko tilts his head, “So, in a sense, I’m being reincarnated?”
The Overseer sighs and shakes his head, “Nah kid, it’s… REFORMED! Not reincarnated. Totally different from being reformed…” the Overseer says as he snaps his fingers.
Haiko tilts his head, “What’s the difference?”
The Overseer coldly stares at Haiko, “Listen… being reformed means you still get all your earned-up stuff up on your head! You just lose your physical makeup… And being reincarnated means you pretty much up and died and gone through some otherworldly process to be put somewhere across who knows where!” the Overseer haughtily explains. “And besides, who said you’re dead?” the Overseer shrugs.
“I mean… No matter how you look at it, I look like a spirit don’t I?” Haiko asks the Overseer bluntly.
The Overseer sighs and chuckles, “You look like that because you lost your body that’s all…” he shrugs.
Haiko ponders, “So, I did get hit by the train… that usually ends up telling me that I died, right?”

The Overseer taps his chin as he thinks. “No, not exactly… I pulled you out before the train could hit you… but, I may have ‘Accidentally’ pulled you too hard and in a twist of fate. Your head hit the concrete pavement so hard that it put you in a comma…” The Overseer says with a wink and cutesy shrug.
Haiko sighs, “So, I’m just in a comma then? and this is all just in my head?” he says frustratedly at the Overseer.
The Overseer laughs, “Oh no! As decided by me and your Uncle, we agreed to pull your life support and get you going to your new life!” the Overseer happily explains while mimicking pulling a cord.
Haiko blankly stares at the Overseer, “Wait, what…? And did you just say Uncle was a part of this?!” Haiko says in a more surprised tone with a mix of frustration.
The Overseer nods, “Yeah! Oh, and speaking of which… I actually have a message from him to you…” the Overseer then snaps a floating written note into existence in front of Haiko’s face.
Haiko reads the note. The note says;
As Haiko finishes reading, he smiles and chuckles. “Can’t say I agree with everything you said, Uncle… But, thank you nonetheless…” Haiko solemnly murmurs. “Just wished you could’ve said something about this earlier…” Haiko shrugs.
The Overseer cuts in while Haiko looks at the note, “I mean I did say I was planning something… And, you said I can count on you for anything…” the Overseer states mindlessly while doing something.
Haiko then looks at the Overseer leaning on the tree doing something with some small orbs of light in between his hands as he waits. Haiko dejectedly sighs with a smile, “I did, but I didn’t expect anything like this! But alright, sure. I get it now… If you say its best for me. Who am I to complain against a hundred-or-so-year-old man and an Overseer of worlds… So, just tell me how should this all go now?”
The Overseer smiles as he stops what he was doing and looks at Haiko, “Glad you catch up quick!” the Overseer then snaps his fingers, as he does all the Orbs of Light circulating the glowing tree, quickly surround Haiko.
The Overseer then makes some weird hand gestures as he comes closer to Haiko. “Now, you should know that even if I’m not with you on your journey. I’ll be watching closely from here…” as the Overseer speaks, the Orbs of Light spun around Haiko faster and faster.
With a clap, the Overseer opens a portal on top of Haiko. Rays of light then shine down on them. The Overseer smiles as he sees, as Haiko slowly floats up to the portal.
Haiko notices his form changing as the Orbs of light are absorb into him, “So, where exactly am I going and what am I supposed to do when I get there!?” Haiko yells as the sound of whistling wind emits from the portal above.
The Overseer smiles, “You’ll know soon enough!” he winks. “Besides, where’s the fun in telling you the answers. If I can enjoy and watch you know it yourself!” the Overseer says to Haiko cheekily.
The Overseer then finishes creating something from the Orbs of light from earlier. As he finishes, he throws it towards Haiko, who’s slowly floating upward. “Take this guy with you! You’ve been wanting some new tech, right? Now that guy there is the latest form of sentient technology you’ve ever seen made by yours truly! He’ll help you out as you go on your journey!” The Overseer yells proudly.
Haiko sees the object in question float in front of his face. “A metallic card?” as Haiko says the card goes inside Haiko.
The Overseer smiles childishly as Haiko gets closer to the portal, “Treat him and everyone else nicely, ya hear!” The Overseer happily yells.
Haiko looks at the Overseer confused, “Him?”
The Overseer ignores Haiko’s question and jolts as he remembers something. “By the way! Since you’re going to a new world and all? Ain’t it better to have a new name?” The Overseer smirks as he suggests.
Haiko ponders for a moment and nods, “I guess so…” as he was about to suggest a name for himself. The Overseer cuts him off.
“ZERO!!” The Overseer yells with childish joy, “Your name will be Zero, for now. A perfect name for the guy who has no life whatsoever!!” The Overseer laughs as he says bluntly to Haiko.
Haiko wryly laughs, “You can’t be ser-” before Haiko could argue. The Metallic Card comes out of Haiko and expands as it prompts and speaks. “Name Acknowledge: Zero”
Haiko looks at the prompt shocked. “Hey! That’s not fair, I should get the right to name myself, what’s the big idea!?”
The Overseer just laughs and waves at Haiko. Before Haiko could say anything else, the portal sucks him in and similar to what happened when he traveled to the Overseer’s realm. The Orbs of light binds him and slowly forms his new body, as he travels at light speed towards the new world.
Haiko angrily yells as he moves, “YOU STUPID FEDO JII-SAN!!”

With a flash of bright light, Haiko slowly opens his eyes to see the bright blue sky above him and seemingly large trees all around. As he lay on the ground and sighs.
The Metallic Card expanded and prompts to Haiko, “Welcome to your new life Kid! Good luck and much love from your good friend the Overseer ;D”
