《Post-Living》Chapter 4: (Destroying) The City of Krux!

"ATTAAACCCKKKK!", said the knights.
"FUUUUUCCCCKKK!", said Vor.
I looked at his face, and it looked like an "Oh shit, what have I done?" face. He knows the intensity of what he did, and he's going to suffer for it. Well, now that the king's dead anyway, I pulled out the knife from his dead chest, and stabbed it on his head.
Vor: .....
Nyx: I regret nothing.
Nowhere to run, I threw Vor out the big circular glass pane behind the King's throne. Not gonna lie, I threw him out with the intent to kill him, but I know my brother, he isn't going to die. Damn it.
Then a spear pierced through my head, cutting it in half. Why do almost everyone that attacks me always go for the head? I have other body parts too, maybe you could try that. *Sigh* Why am I getting disappointed because of that? I don't really know, too. But, let me give all these knights a one way ticket to Gaia.
Nyx: "You should know, You're not going to get my head anytime soon. *Grins*"
Aside from all the things that I've said, I, for once after a very, very long time, is actually having.. fun.
Knight 1: GET HIM!
Nyx: Well, you know, cutting off my head does kinda hurt, a bit. So that's a start.
The knight at the back surprised me with an attack. I moved a little bit to the left and dodged it, then I closed in on him and pulled the rock out of my pocket to, again, bash his armored helmet. Obviously, it didn't work, but hey, the helmet's now deformed. The other knights charged at me with their swords, I dodged all of those.. by jumping on their heads. Then, I jumped on the room's chandelier and with the rock, I broke the chain that it was hanging on. None of them died, damn, but most of them are stuck below the broken chandelier. Their armors didn't help, it just added more weight.
Some knights were stuck below, so I stole a knight's spear and stood my ground. As I mentioned before, I have knowledge about all of these weapons. Immortality's a pain, so I had time (fuck, actually I have lots) to learn, and I did, all because I wanted to feel like I'm in a game, and right now, I'm basically in one.
SoJutsu, the spear fighting martial arts that originated in Japan. I know a thing or two about that, but I have something better in mind.
The knights then helped the other knights out of the chandelier, but I immediately charged at them, startling them. I pierced through one of thee knight's armor, and I shoved the spear and the body to the ground, sticking and killing the body at the same time. I clinged onto the spear, and for me to escape, I grabbed and like a monkey, I was swinging on the spear in a circular motion, making the knights that tries to grab my foot get kicked away. The armor hurts my feet, but it usually just regenerates.
After building up motion and momentum, I jumped out of the glass pane, the same pane where I threw Von to escape (kill him).
Why didn't I do it sooner? 'Cause, those were like, the moments in games that makes the main character shines as a protagonist. Pretty stupid, though, they have an escape route but they still chose to fight. Kinda like what I did tonight.

Shit, I'm now a fugitive that killed the king along with Vor. The sudden shock earlier made me burst, but I actually like this new change of pace. Now, time to find that brother of mine.
I'm running, running, running.
Through this woods, at knight, and behind me are knights swarming in one place, chasing me. Luckily, I got back on the city, and saw the bridge. For some reason, Vor was undeneath it, earlier. So I went underneath the bridge, because why the hell not?
Vor: Psssst, bro! In here!
Nyx: Vor? Where the hell are you, exactly?
"Beneath this wall, I created this earlier, you see. It won't be seen from the outside because of the night."
He was really prepared, except the escape part. God, how the hell do you plan an assassination without an escape plan?
Nyx: Vor, I can't fit.
Vor: Oh, crap, Well I didn't.. expect you.. to come here... I thought you were dead! How the hell did you escape?
"Long story, *Sigh* God damn it, we're going. Stay behind me, and give me those arrows."
"What, no way man, I need them for my bow."
"Just give me two, and stay behind me."
I suck at archery, I kept practicing and got decent at it, but nonetheless, still mediocre. From what I've experienced, I excel at close range combat. (hell yeah, the best classes in games are usually close combat focused)
Flexibility is Vor's strong suit, so I led him into the best spot that he could be strong at, the forest. I got the knights' attention and led them there, where Vor was sniping them with his bow. He's good, damn. Whenever he runs out of arrows, I get those that he fired (checking if they can still be fired) and give it to him so he can fire it again. This went on for like, 5 repeats until the shaft of the arrow becomes bent or broken, rendering it useless.
I, on the other hand, continues to fight those knights while dual wielding... arrows. It's not like I have another option here. I killed over a dozen of them, and damaged a lot of knights. After that, the arrows also break, and I would get another weapon. This time, I picked up the most common weapon, a broadsword. I can't clear a path with this, though, as the knights surrounded the whole forest, so I picked up an axe and, without technique, I swinged it viciously.
"Shit, at this rate, we'll never escape this city.", said Vor, who's now trembling at the current situation.
"Wait, I have a plan."
"What plan? Dude there's like a million of them. They're probably surrounding the city as we speak!"
"Yeah, but there's always that one option."
"What, what do you mean?"
"We make a deal with them."
"..., Nyx, are you fucking with me right now?"
"No, I meant give me as a fugitive, and blame everything on me. That should suffice it, right? Then an execution will be held, then maybe, just maybe, Icoulddie.."
"Wait, what?"
"I meant you could make a deal with the knights so that you could escape. Don't worry, I'll meet you sometime, but for now, this can help you escape. Make sure to call all the knights, and let them surround me."

"Are you sure about this? I mean this.. this is all my fault..."
"Ah, nonsense, or do you want to be in my position?"
"You're making a noble sacrifice, I won't ever forget this, brother."
Ok, well, I guess it's time.. Or so I thought.
The stone that I got from the pit is... lighting up..?
I pulled it out my pocket, and a weird pop-up showed up in my head..
Heey, I knew you'd find this stone. Listen, it's me, Gaia. I forgot to give this to you. The stone basically reverses time..
Yeah, It reverses time, buuut, it can only reverse your own time. Let's say you have a wounded body, you can use this stone to reverse time and return your body into the healthy state that it was before. Like what happened when you fell down the pit that I put the rock in. I basically altered history for that!
The rock is now usable, sorry, it took a very long time to make it work. But hey, this is a seemingly good time to try it, don't you think? Like a Deus-ex-Machina, or whatever you earthlings call it. I don't want you reversing time and all, like what happened in the pit. So I modified it. It's just a little gift, I gave one to your friend, Miz, too. But it's not this stone, it's a whole new other gift! Anyway, use this to your heart's content, although I know you won't use it that much.
To use it, just think of the word Antistrofi. It's reverse, in Greek! Greek words are more awesome than normal words. Anyway, see ya after you beat that Demon.. King. yea. Bye!
....
I knew there's something wrong with this rock.
Well I guess that changes my plans.
"Vor, go hide in a tree, or something. I can handle this."
"Wait, what? What the hell are you planning to do?"
"Just relax, I know what I'm doing. After I distract them, you go on ahead. I'll meet you on the pit."
Vor followed my directions and hid.
I reversed time to the state when I still had that axe. Now, with a weapon, all I had to do is to kill all the knights. In order to do that, I jumped in a tree to make sure I get a view of the forest.
"Alright, I'm ready. HEY ASSHOLES! I'M SURRENDERING! LET MY BROTHER GO!"
The knights heard the scream. Every knight in the entire kingdom surrounded me, and then, as they pan their attention to me, Vor sneaked away and escaped. Well, I guess the plan worked and all I had to do was to obey them.. or will I?
"Drop your weapons and kNEES ON THE GROUND! NOW!" said the Captain of the Knights.
I followed them, and they closed in and aimed their spears to my neck.
"Not so tough now, aren't ya? You're gonna pay for bending my fucking helm!" said a knight (that I bashed with a rock earlier)
Now that I think about it, it's this rock that'll fuck him over again.
"You actually can't though. I'm basically unstoppable now."
"What?"
"ANTISTROFI!"
I'm not supposed to say it, but it worked.
I reversed time to when I was in the air after I jumped. I pulled out the axe and slammed it into the ground! Quite a few died, and I took a couple arrows to the knee, and spears on my chest, but again, I reversed my state, and slammed it into the ground hard. Kinda got bored during the same tactic, I relied on my abilities. I swinged the axe at the knights, and dodge every thing they threw at me. Spears were flying at me, from left to right, and I dodged.. quite a few of those.
Knights with swords then attacked me, and I picked up a sword to counter them back. Block, slash, block, slash, pierce. Those weren't enough to kill all of them, and I had enough of pain for one day. I reversed time so I could back up into the air again, and I landed on their locations. Using that, I reversed it again, but now, I reversed it so that I could be behind them. Then, with that tactic, I destroyed an entire city's army before the day ended.
"Woooh, that felt refreshing."
Well, if I destroyed an entire city, I might as well just get something as a reward, right? I don't want to use that stone anymore, it's kind of a cheat code. I hate cheats in games.
I went to the castle, so I could get that crown. Selling it would give me a lot of mon- err, Chri. Is it called Chri?
Inside the castle, where the king's dead body resides. I saw a familiar face..
"You- You're that girl from earlier!"
???: Yep, and thanks to you, I'm now free.
"Wait, the fuck?"
"Getting out of this family is impossible. I tried to escape, but all they do is blackmail me, making me go back to this hellhole. I never thought, you, no, your brother, will free me from this curse I was born into."
"Ook..?"
"Here, take the crown, I know you wanted it. We'll see each other next time, and hopefully, my saviour too. My name is Kree, Kree Maize. Farewelll."
Uhhh, what? I had to sit through that monologue, just to get a crown. I didn't really care about her, but this crown though, I wonder how much will this cost if I sell it? Oh well, I guess it's time to go somewhere, hmm, crap, Vor has the map. I guess it's time to go meet him then.
Vor: NYX! NYXNYXNYXNXNYXNYXN! YOU.. YOU'RE NOT DEAD! BUT HOW?
Nyx: Deus-ex-machina.
"Deus what?"
"Hey, I'm not dead, and you're asking me how I didn't die? Did you want me to die?"
"Wait, it was impossible to leave that city! They were surrounding you!"
"Vor, elder brothers are really strong."
"But-"
"Shhh, you'll know in the morning."
Fuck, I didn't come up with an excuse. Well, now that we basically destroyed the first city that we came in, we're now fugitives on the run. Like that will stop me.
Time to go to the next plot point, I guess.

8 186Fateless: The Silver Lining
It has been ten years of peace for the Union since the end of the great war with the eastern barbarian tribes, yet in the cold north of the Union's land, a new threat is looming. This time, an ambitious Lord is seeking to restore the yore pride of his kin, forcing the weakened Union into yet another unwanted war, as he ramps up the ranks of his army with thieves, murderers and mercenaries.* * *The temperature inside the forge was nearly twice as high as the one outside. A black-haired girl hammered a steel ingot into the shape of a blade. The heat of the steam was draining her stamina away, but her focus remained sharp as her sweat streamed down her face. Hit after hit, for hours, the sound of the hammering steel followed the rhythm of her breathing. Exhausted, she placed the blade into the water and wiped the sweat off her face using a drenched rag. Why are they screaming? Vatra dipped the rag back in the water, twisted it, and approached the window. Her mouth opened as her world shattered again into the living nightmare she had wilfully tried to forget. She bit her lips; it wasn’t a dream. The pulse of her heart rose. A cold sweat prickled her back. A mother was running, and a child was screaming. A torrent of smoke was emerging from the roof of her neighbour. Vatra’s eyes blinked. The mother lay on the ground, a spear through her back. A torch circled in the air and landed on the roof of her workshop. In the distance, a man wearing a banner well known to the world… Fateless is a philosophical medieval dark low fantasy centered on war, militaristic campaigns and geopolitical conflicts between multiple empires. This story follows the fate of Vatra, a former slave from the eastern Nar Empire who was raised in a culture far away from her own, forced into warfare against her will, and the fate of Lanaya, an ambitious half-angel exiled from her home whose existence is seen as heresy. As they wished for peace, both chose a path opposed to one another until their fate crossed. In this story where war dictates the law, love strikes them as a poisoned balm to which they grasp for with all their might, as it is in the darkest of times that the smallest flames may burn the brightest. * * * Tome 1 already completed and available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/Fateless-Silver-Hugo-Emmanuel-Simard-Wallot/dp/B09LGSH1KK Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Hugo-Emmanuel-Simard-Wallot-100547579135891/ I will publish 1 chapter per week (sometimes 2 if the chapters are too short for my liking).
8 482Gods of Arkanoth
The hunter has been betrayed, left alone in the streets of a lugubrious district. Only one goal appears in his eyes: to avenge himself. In his quest to avenge himself, he'll encounter an enigmatic scientist who seems to hide his true nature, a savior pretending to be a God, and the terrible truth of those words, bringing him against something he'd never thought he'd have to affront. This is the odyssey of the hunter, in a quest to put a long overdue end to a war between two worlds. // What to expect:The beginning will surely be intriguing, most of what's happeing won't be directly explained, although there will be some hints about their true roles, but do not worry about some subjects never leaving that misty fog that is unanswered questions! The novel is divided in two parts, the first focusing on uncovering the well-hidden secrets the city of Arkanoth hides, be it concerning its making or its inhabitants. As for the second part, it will be an expedition into the unknown, we could, in a way, say the true start of the journey our three heroes will undertake! I won't say anything more about the second part or else I might tell you an important detail without realizing... As for magic, because yes, there is magic! Although you might not see the shadow of a spell in the first chapters, it will appear in later chapters and will be one of the main subjects of volume 2. There are three heroes, yes, but they will not appear directly. While the first two protagonists appear in quite the beginning, the third will take his time, taking some stroll in the Districts of Arkanoth while we focus on the story of the hunter. But that does not lessen his importance in the story a bit, trust me. What about these three heroes, you say? Well, they all have their own issues, from their character to their torments, and as the story progresses they will have to come clean with their past (character development is to be expected) and will find their reason for fighting, braving all odds. I draw my inspiration from mythology, more precisely Aztec mythology. I want to stay true to a certain extent about it and all the relations between the gods and their role, however I will still change some things to my liking, so do not expect for all of the mythology to be respected to the letter. Finally! I have to say English is a foreign langage for me, so I might not choose the best words or straight-up miswrite something, if it bothers your experience, just tell me in the comments and I'll look into it! It is also my first time writing a book, so some parts might seem sloppy, but I hope I will be able to improve throughout this journey so as to give the most enjoyable reading experience to you. // Who might enjoy this story: Firstly, if you like deep lore and stories in which past plays a big role, you will like how everything unravels to show the hidden truths of the world. However if you do not appreciate not instantly understanding what's happening or who - or even what - this person might be, then you might not appreciate the story. There will be disturbing and gore descriptions, so if you're sensitive, don't like reading about someone being beheaded and such, you should probably pass this one. There is strong langage, although I won't abuse it, I won't be lying saying no insults will appear. Finally, the heroes will not always win, they will sometime lose battles, be it important ones or unimportant, and they will, most of the time, not come out unscathed from those. // Time Schedule : once every two sundays at 7:pm Ps : feel free to tell me if something is bad, or feel wrong with the book, it really helps me. I've written till' chapter 4 (in my mother tongue, so I'll still have to translate), however I'll make some minor and major changes, thus it will take some time to post them. Schedule will probably not change after releasing chapter 4, so don't worry, it won't take even longer to post a chapter than it already is. Enjoy the ride :)
8 86Acclimation
- HIATUS - One chilly spring morning, the world begins to shift. Suddenly, five individuals find themselves in possession of more potential than they can imagine, and are left trying to find their place in a rapidly changing world. The world is changing, but into what? This story follows Chris and four other humans as they reenter the world as harbringers of the system, dragging chaos in their wake. Edit: I wrote myself into a corner with this one, and its only after taking a writing class that I realize where I went wrong, and it needs a complete rewrite from the top. I considered taking it down, but i'm going to leave it up as a reminder to myself to plan out my magic systems a little better.
