《World tag#001》Chapter047

- What? What do you mean getting ready? We are chained if you didn't noticed!
- I mean I have a really bad hunch...
WARNINGMonster swarm ETA 04:00
- And I was right on the money... Why?! Sigh...
The system's unpredictability was starting to annoy me, well my lack of information worried me far more, but from all the little bit of information and speculation I had I could hope for the better. If that message was really the signal of the beginning of some kind of "event", than the whole system really waqs geared towards the presence of "players". That was one of the theories we come up discussing, but I had little time to prepare and not a second to waste.
The warning, differently from the previous windows, didn't close but remained into a cornere of the menu's hud. I had to admit it was useful because it was a countdown and, luckily, showed me that I had four hours to prepare, and not four minutes like I feared at the beginning.
I didn't know what to expect but the word swarm was far from comforting, so I needed all the help I could get, Like Cawic pointed out the mercenaries where cuffed like me, so no help from that front. I suspected Athame was far more powerful as she tried to appear but she was also in chains.
I had another option, the one I was pointing from the moment they captured me actually, to talk to the ones in charge and gather as much info as I could. This pressing matter was a new incentive to accelerate my pace, in the end I obtained all I wanted, a guarded relatively safe place where I had all the time to increase my chances of survival. All the skill and gain I had were proof of a success.

- For now what I can tell you is to try and stay as calm as possible, and if you can boost your defences better get ready to do it in a few hours, and also better cover your ears...
I stopped talking and started to concentrate on my throat, I didn't need a permanent enhancement, so I did a fast and kind of wobbly enchantment to amplify my voice. Considering my previous work, a simple sound modification was far more easy.
- GUARDS! I NEED TO TALK TO THE ONE IN CHARGE! NOW! GUARDS! GUARDS!
I only needed to repeat that mantra, for the joy of my fellow inmates who where frantically plugging theirs ears, for three time before I obtained some results.
The ones who opened the jail grate where not the platemail soldiers, but a couple of less armored one. Their attire was far more resembling of legionaries and kind of fitted in the whole roman camp atmosphere. They seemed pretty angry by the racket I was making, and far less impressed or fearful of me.
- Stop yelling! Have you gone insane? What do you want?
- I need to talk to your superior, I think they need to know something. And the matter is pretty pressing, so sorry for the noise but that was the only way to catch your attention.
- Our attention? I will be impressed if the whole camp didn't hear you, commander included... Stay quiet and maybe we will see...
They were more understanding that I hoped, maybe they didn't expect an apology, or maybe my voice really reached far more that I first intended. I wasn't able to judge my voice's real volume due to shutting down my hearing during that time, but if it was really that powerful maybe it was worth spending time to make a proper skill out of it.

While I mused about all the application sound weapons could have a new guest showed up. It wasn't the military commander, that I hoped to meet, but the owner of the voice that, some time before, crossed word with the noble, just outside the pit.
- What's happening here! What did you do to our guest! This is why uneducated people are...
The man that appeared was wearing gaudy clothes that weren't martial in any kind of sense, they resembled of a mix between a toga and a habit. With a small stature and a round build he appeared like a parody of a medieval monk, well if one could ignore foots that had opposing thumbs like an ape.
The two guard were saved from the raging of the gaudy man by the arrival of someone else. Who, just like the armored soldiers that followed him, seemed far more annoyed by the presence of the man than by the racked I made..

Johanna Milton and her friends have an answer: delve into Ancient ruins, avoid Changed beasts and mana pockets, and salvage Ancient materials, collectibles, and trinkets to sell. Suddenly, Talents straight out of fantasy novels become theirs. While they try to make sense of what happens, eyes turn to them, to the four who seem to break all rules. Or are they merely following them? Because, in the Beyond where he's spent 150 years waiting, one dead Ancient knows the truth. Douglas Moore has played those games often enough when he was alive to make sense of the System that rules the Changed world. He can no longer act on his own, but he has access to the Interface. And four people for which he can bring whatever it takes to face the world. Change is coming. The Changed Ones is a slow-burn litrpg fantasy trilogy (Ancient Bones, Ancient Books, Ancient Bonds) set on Earth, 150 years after the RPG Apocalypse... which mostly failed. Keywords: LitRPG, realistic setting, low-leveling, post-post-apocalypse, fantasy earth, slow-burn, secondary POVs, female primary MC, team adventure, worldbuilding. Trigger warnings: casual swearing, adult innuendo (no explicit scenes whatsoever, though). Oh, and potentially a bit of politics. Bonus content: a Litrpg Easter Egg hunt. With lots of eggs across the book, some easy, some hard to find. Current score: 6/20 (20 eggs, 6 found) Publication schedule: on hold until September for book 2.

The atomic war caused plague and disease that crippled major countries. The generals and great leaders of the countries at war died from the radiation that penetrated every part of the globe. It was only then that humanity realized what they had done- what they had created. The first ever mutant was publicly executed the very day the war ended, and a new war began: the war against mutants. The surviving nation of Japan quickly rebuilt their country by dividing it into safe zones, or Sectors. There are currently 26 livable sectors in Japan; Sector 1 is the richest sector and the only sector that has completely rid itself of all radiation left over from the war. In fear against the threat of mutants, the once small section of the police force grew until it became the main police force in Japan. After all, humans shouldn't be blamed for crimes when the real threat to society is mutants. This police force that goes by their motto: Special Treatment Against Mutants (STAM) is comprised of agents that go about their work to capture and detain all mutants. Sector 26 is the poorest sector that humans can barely survive in; but there is one more part of Japan. This "dead zone" has such a high concentration of radiation that if a human were to step inside the barrier, they would die in mere moments. But within this dead zone, this 27th Sector, there lies a secret organization of mutants that fight against STAM and protect all mutants from their grasp. The Mutant Recovery and Protection Agency (MRPA) operates to hide mutants in society and allow them to live human lives. The only thing that stands in MRPA's way is STAM and its agents who hunt them down ruthlessly, so MRPA has their own set of skilled agents. And the battle rages on...
